Sigh.... I wish I had the money to go there and lurk around waiting. Because I would if I had the cash flow. What do you do that you meet the players?

I made it out to the LI national this weekend at Hofstra. I picked up a few things and they had a fantastic selection of vintage cards. I'm not sure why everyone says they have so much trouble buying Yankees cards at this thing. While they certainly didn't do you a favor on the price on alot of them, there were loads and loads of them available...though I wasn't really searching for the 2017 Chrome Chunk Autographed Phil Hughes with genuine laminated pubes. I've never seen so many Whitey Ford cards in my life...along with the usual likes of Jeter and Arod.... I actually had an ehxibitor badge and snapped up a few things at 30% off because of it....inlcuding this:

It's not that the cards aren't available, it's just that they're overpriced.

My wife called me saying that Target had a Yankee 55 card set for sale. I told her it was just the Yankee set & some other cards not all 55 cards being Yankee cards . so she did not get it. Any one know if tops did put out a 55 card Yankee set or is this just a come on ?

Oh. My. God. Yes, they have made a card for the Yankee Stadium squirrel. Whoo hoo! Yee ha! Did you know the dope had a name? Yes, get ready for this.....POLEY WALNUTS. Yes, POLE-Y WALNUTS. This was a blurb from the "Stale Gum" baseball card blog. www.stalegum.com/ Beckett Baseball Price Guide Editor, Brian Fleischer is reporting that New York dealer Ted Straka, of TNT Sportscards, has discovered two previously unannounced cards in the recently released 2007 Topps Update product.
The preliminary checklist catalogs card #100 as Philadelphia Phillies third basemen Abraham Nunez. While Nunez is indeed card #100, Straka pulled a Jacoby Ellsbury card featuring the MLBPA Rookie Logo which is also card #100.
In addition, Straka pulled a "Poley Walnuts" card #SQ1 featuring the squirrel that became famous for routinely appearing on the Yankee Stadium right field foul pole throughout the 2007 season.
Both cards appear to be extremely difficult pulls, with odds possibly comparable to the 2006 Topps shortprint releases of Alay Soler, card #RC1 and the infamous Alex Gordon release, card #297.
To date, Straka and his team of employees have busted 10 hobby and 10 jumbo cases and have only pulled one example of each card. Here's his card, maybe we can get him to sign it.

Near the end of the season this squirrel was a regular, scampering up and down the foul poul. The announcers were glomming all over it. One of the names they came up with was "Pesky" cause, well, you know, pesky and pole. But it was nixed due to the Red Sox connontation. I am not sure who dubbed it Pole-Y Walnuts officially, however.

I just got the 2006 & 2007 tops Updated sets. Now they are 330 cards thats like 1/2 a full set. How about this 2008 card. Rudy A true Yankee fan....Card shows Rudy celebrating with Red Sox
NEW YORK -- Yankee fans won't like it, Red Sox fans won't like it and Rudy Giuliani certainly won't like it. When Topps baseball cards hit the stores this week, about one in every 70 packs will include a picture of Giuliani, fist raised in victory, celebrating with the Sox on the field after their World Series win.
Giuliani wasn't really there, of course. For years, the former New York City mayor has been known as a die-hard Yankee fan. But he did alienate some Yankee fans by declaring in October that he was rooting for the Sox in the Series - "I'm an American league fan," he said - and Topps ran with the idea.
"We took that and thought it would make for a funny card, since the Red Sox won," said Clay Luraschi, baseball brand manager for The Topps Co. "We thought, let's put him in the championship dog pile."
He said Giuliani's withdrawal from the presidential race didn't dampen his enthusiasm for the card.
Giuliani - who also appeared, by himself, on a 2004 Topps card - was not consulted about the new card, Luraschi said. Messages left Tuesday at Giuliani's campaign and work numbers were not immediately returned.
Topps did something similar a year ago, inserting George Bush into the stands and Mickey Mantle into the dugout in the background of Derek Jeter's card.

Vintage Brewers. "Harveys Wall-bangers."
Gooner, you cant complete a collection without a Sixto Lezcano.
I noticed the 2008 Topps cards dotting the shelves. Soon I will get to work on Beckett, and just cherrypick cards of my choosing for around a dime each, I usually add 80-100 a year that way of just players I like. I will be settling in to do that soon.
