to the newest member of the bleacher family.
Debbie gave birth today to her first son, Jack Robert Zimm. He weighed in at 9lbs 11oz and was 22 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing well (as is fred!)
Congrats guys, and I'm so happy that your first child was a masculine child

Congrats guys!! I like the name Jack. : )
On a side note, my friend Tyaisha was taken to the hospital today and by the end of the night should be welcoming her daughter, Jazmyne Eve.
I love babies.

Congrats to Debbie and Fred!!! Dave's buddy Sean named his son Jack, too... does this have something to do with Jack Wagner coming back to GH? Or are these kids being named after Jack Bauer? Years ago, I read somewhere that whenever there is a super-popular TV character, lots of babies end up being named after him/her... for example, Luke and Laura were extremely popular names around 1983...

And Emma in 2002-2003 although my Emma was not named for that reason.
I think Jack has always been a pretty popular name. I like simple names.

I think Jack as a nickname has always been popular, but it is a fairly recent trend to name babies Jack (rather than John) or Jennie, Tonie, Beth, Vicky, Jake, etc...

I have an uncle named Jack as well as an uncle named John. They are brothers. Perhaps they both named after their father, John. My father who is the middle brother is not named any variation of John/ Jack however.

Hey everyone....thanks for all the kind words of welcome for our new son!!!! We are so in love.
FYI we named him after both of our maternal grandfathers. Jack being Jack, not John

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Both of your grandfather's had the same name? Interesting. Emma's middle name is Margaret because it was my mother's mother's name as well as Tom's father's mother's name.
I never got Jack as a nickname for John anyway. I think it stands alone as a name in itself. Although I do happen to like both names.
I saw his picture that you emailed Tom. Cute. : )

Thanks Dana.....
Our grandfathers didn't have the same name. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. My grandfather was Jack and Fred's was Robert, hence, Jack Robert. It is odd how the name Jack really is becoming popular again. My roomate in the hospital also had a boy she named Jack. She said she named him after some radio station or some such.

"She said she named him after some radio station or some such"
She named him after an ipod station. I heard a station called Jack FM. LOL. It's pretty much a computer run station playing songs and commercials and all the typical radio stuff. There's no live DJ's, it's just an ipod station. That's pretty funny.

Why would you name a kid after a radio station? And if I did at least I would admit it.
