Oh man, that's a lame ending. That's an ending to get a crowd heated. LOL!

Yeah, but Bravo comes off looking like a goof. I mean, who wins a belt and shoots to the back in like 30 seconds? You need to walk around, pose with the thing, soak in the cheers. And how did he not hear Mean Gene's announcement to get back to the ring? Was he showering?

So I'm watching a bit of my April 96 tape. Whoa, some zany stuff here. Tape opens up with the squabbling Owen Hart and British Bulldog, broken up by the turning-in-progress Hitman Hart. This is the famous Hart speech, where he coaxes the two to stop infighting, and reconcile with him. Remember, his take was the fans turned these guys on one another. One of the funniest wrestling memories I have, and saw again tonight, is when Bret and Owen finally hug, and the fans boo lustily. You hear one guy doing that "stand on a chair and boo as loud as you can so you are heard over everyone else" boos.
Also, on that same show, Mankind throws a fireball at Undertaker. Fantastic. Finally, this evening, I see HHH and Goldust going at it, and Chyna interferes. The crew come in to break it up, and HHH shoves down Pat Patterson. Patterson hops up, and the two exchange punches, and the crowd pops with glee. HHH gets the best of it, with help from "the Amazon." But seeing HHH and Patterson punching away was really cool.

Was that the speech where while Bret was talking, Owen starting crying tears of joy?

I would not call them tears of joy, so much, they would have been tears of remorse. He started "crying" when Hitman was doing the, "No one had your back like I did...I love you, Owen" schpiel. When he said "I love you, Owen" Owen started crying and buried his head in Brets grip, and the fans booed lustily.

I remember that. That was a good moment. The fans were not happy.

Just got done watching some 24/7, specifically a solid match between Pillman and Regal. Awesome stuff. Went to a time limit draw, but Regal pulled out the usual arsenal of submissions, holds and locks.
Before that Johnny B. Badd took on a chubby DDP. Marc Mero was one of those guys I never found my self rooting for, because I couldn't get past the B Badd gimmick, even while he was in the WWF.

No, I only watch it when she's busy on Myspace, sleeping, or not here. I usually watch it in the morning while I eat breakfast or while I eat dinner in the evening.
I have so many thigns to watch it's not funny. Rome, I have to finish watching episodes of Extras I haven't seen yet. Plus all the shows I watch with Rita like Lost, 24, Grey's Anatomy and what not. So, I regulate this to breakfast/dinner and break from school work watching.

So check out what I found over the weekend poking around in Mom and Dads basement - THE NOTEBOOK. Around 2000 I cataloged a few dozen of my wrestling tapes. I sat there armed with a heap of beer and cranking my music, and FF through the tapes I had made and scrawled down what was on them in a ratty blue notebook. Every tape I put together from 1996 through the WCW Russo era in 2000 is now cataloged, here in my home. I am now able to find things I am looking for without going to wrestling sites, figuring out when they happened, and pulling the applicable tape.
I also found out which tape the infamous "FUDGE BROWNIE" show is on. Go me! A few of you will know the show of which I speak.

So check it out. Watching my April 97 tape for a little while before I sacked last night. Some funny notes from there. This is right when Brett turned and joined forces with the dastardly Owen and Bulldog.
On an episode of Raw the Godwins were chasing Owen and Bulldog to the back, holding their slop buckets. The tag champs were begging off. making their way up the aisle, when the Legion of Doom appeared behind them to get them stuck. Well, the Godwins went to slop them, but they ducked, and they slopped the LOD. Well, the LOD did not take too kindly to that, and the fight was on. Alll the while Bulldog and Owen were laughing hysterically, and doing that "hey, look at that" point at them while they fought.
HBK did a TWENTY MINUTE PROMO in the ring with Vince, shredding Hart. Top notch stuff here. As close to shoot for the era as was out there. This promo was rendered less memorable as it was followed up by a Mankind promo which went on just as long, but in his halting style. Also shoot style, talking about his kids at home and his house being pelted with eggs by "kids in Undertaker shirts." Later in the show Mankind ended up brawling with his partner Vader after Vader hit him errantly trying to attack Stone Cold. They did end up hugging, at Paul Bearer's behest, to close that edition of Raw.
One other annoyance - the Hart turn, which was as serious as it got with a lot of drama, was kind of sprinked with a sense of stupidity, as in the midst of all this they threw up an ad for the "latest edition of WWF Magazine" and on it, sharing a cover, was Brett Hart and.......BART SIMPSON.
Another thing I caught last night was the first appearance of the coming Truth Commission. "The Commandant" came out to make a LOOOONNNNNG speech that went on and on and had the crowd pretty mad.

Georgia footage is gold. I have a great Freebirds comp - no, make that 3 of them - 6 hour tapes each, with just about everything they did on Georgia TV (angles, interviews, matches including squashes, all the way up and through the Hayes/Gordy feud)
That stuff really takes me back. How is the quality on your Georgia DVDs? Obviously a heap of that stuff making the rounds is tough and choppy.

my GCW DVD is a pretty good copy, considering where and when it was, taped off, which was of TBS in the 80s going by the commericals.its good stuff though even though most of the matches are squashes, but those interviews wit gordon Soile are Great i could watch that shit all day long

So I am watching one of my master-mixes, a comp I put together in April 97. Lots going on here. When I plopped the tape in tonight WCW was live in Philly, and they were building towards a Reggie White / Mongo McMichael battle. White was at ringside getting called a loser by Mongo, who had Jeff Jarrett with him. Well, White hopped the rail, but was held back by a cavalcade of refs and WCW staff. Mongo then spit in his face, and White broke through and they tumbled to the mat. The fans were going apeshit, including that dick with the tropical shirt and straw hat who was an ECW ringside regular, who would boo any reference to WCW during an ECW show, but sure was having fun when WCW came to town in his ringside seat. Speaking of non-wrestler challenges, Ken Shamrock was out on Raw making a public challenge to Mike Tyson. Well, we all know what came of that......nothin. Remember when Vader got into trouble for roughing up that host on Good Morning Kuwait? All he really did was grab him by the tie and give him a stern talkin' to for his barbs against wrestling. Whats funniest about the clip is that Undertaker is there with him, just sitting calmly in his chair, just watchin. Heres the clip, which I just culled from YouTube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_QuQtnxWMU Hows this for a way to sell t-shirts? Around this time the WWF would have Sunny come marching out on the rampway during Raw, waving to the crowd wearing the newest and hottest WWF t's. Dok Hendrix (Michael Hayes) would shill for the crowd and describe the shirt. I will have more as I move along on these tapes.

So since I don't have 24/7, I figured I get this thing going again. For my birthday a few weeks ago I got the Royal Rumble Anthology Box Set and have been watching it non stop. A few days ago I threw in 92, and I bet you're thinking I'm going to do the Flair Rumble/title win.But I'm not. i'm going to do the IC match, Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty. Now before you burn me for it,the reason I'm recapping this one is for the lead up to the match and HBK as a full fledged heel which I grew up watching and loving.
So the Rockers split, HBK won the IC gold and got Sherri as his manager. After cutting a promo Sherri brings in a huge heart shaped mirror and Michaels starts checking himself out during an episode of superstars. All of the sudden, racing through the crowd comes Jannetty gets into the ing to a nice little pop from the cowd. HBK unaware of this is stillfixing his hair with his back turned to Jannetty. Then sherri moves the mirror and reveals Janetty is back, Michaels sells it with a face like he saw a ghost, hysterical. Jannetty kicks ass, Michaels bumps like a fish out of water, crowd loves it. Then Jannetty picks up the mirror and goes to smash HBK with it, however, with his infinite wisdom and heel persona, he pulls Sherri in the way who gets blasted as HBK ducks out and runs to the back. Fucking classic.
So the match starts at the Rumble all Jannetty. He whips Michaels into the corner a la Flair and follows it up with a clostline and a mouthful of spit comes flying out of HBKS mouth. After being thrown to the outside HBK takes control throwing Jannetty shoulder first into the ring post. After working on thatr for a while, Michaels starts getting cocky, taunting Sherri who was undecided who's corner she'd be in. Jannetty starts making his comeback, Gorilla monsoon says the title is all but Jannettys now, to which Brain calls him an idiot, stating Michaels is the wrestler of the 90's, how true. During the struggle the ref takes a bump and is knocked out. Jannetty covers HBK for a 15 count, but no ref, not decision. Sherri gets into the ring about to hit Michles with her high heel shoe, but Michaels ducks and Marty takes the heel onb the head. Michales teases beating up Sherri, however he turns around and nails a superkick on Jannetty, who does a mid air flip an sells is horribly, but still good enough to pick up the W and retain the gold. HBK leaves, smile on his face, belt on his shoulder, leaving sherri to wonder, what did I do.
If I had a matches and promos from Michaels from 92-94, 'd never leave. Even those of you who hate him gott give it to him, when he was a full fledged heel, there was no one better at that time then the Heartbreak Kid.

That Michaels/Jannetty battle got high marks along the board. Sadly, the feud did not last long (well, actually Marty did not last long) and HBK moved on. Rumble anthology looks cool but I already have about 80% of them taped, and I cant justify more expenditure, especially when I am so backed up on 24/7 stuff.
Good stuff, James.

Yeah HBK talked about that in hius book. Jannetty could have been an awesome mid carder but he partied garder than Michaels. That match wasn't even suppose to happen at Rumble, if Jannetty didn't fuck up they would have done that sooner., Instead HBK was lost in midcard limbo till he got the IC belt. And with those two it was actually true that they knew each other so weel they knew what each other would do, made for n excellent match, good ring psychology and funny parts will HBK heeling it up. But you can take a really bad match put Gorilla and The Brain togerher and you still enjoy the match so it only added to this.
Speaking of HK heeling it up, at the 95 rumble, during the title match between Diesel and Bret Hart, Owen, Backlund,Michaels and I someone else who I'm forgetting run down after the match and start laying the boots to both guys. As Owen and HBK are distracting the officials, Bcklund puts Hitman in the chicken wing. So all the refs and such turn their attention to Backlund trying to pry him off. As they're doing that Mchaels walks around the ring, and just lands a punch to Diesels head, total sucker shot. Vinc annoucning, of course demands Michaels be fired or fined, what else is new. Fucking great.

So one of the advantages of having 24/7 is the fact that they replay the WWE PPVs 3 or so months later. Being I only order every fourth one or so, this gives me a chance to see all the PPVs, as part of my seven bucks a month.
So I started ECW "December to Dismember" last night. My plan is to watch a match a night when I can, knock off a PPV every couple of weeks. This PPV was universally panned, and some are calling it THE worst of all time. Well, it sure started hot, with the Hardys vs MNM. WHAT A BATTLE. Great match, lots of high spots done the right way (not like RVDs form of ballet) and a lot of drama. Melina is great at ringside, by the way.
I know this show is all downhill from there, which I look forward to. Bad is good sometimes. But this was a great match, glad I got to see it.

Well, be that as it may, it was the PPV that kicked Paul E out the door. Its looked upon after the fact as an unequivocable disaster. That said, the opening match, as I said, was fantastic. And the second match, Striker vs Balls, was ok. Striker's antics were amusing, and Balls has that strange quirky charisma that makes him passable in small doses. A big complaint about the card is the matches were thrown together with no fanfare, it was a patchwork card, and people hated that.
But going on just the first two matches, I have no problems with the show so far.

I'm watched the Primetime and WCCW episodes they had on with my buddies last night as I BBQed and they had a hoot.
I've been watching the 07 Royal Rumble this morning, and I'm sorry, Umaga/Cena was a fun, well planned match, and Umaga certainly deserves more credit than having one or two moves.

Highlight of the Prime Time for me was the Reed/Santana battle. A good 20 minute time limit draw. Hard hitting. Slick was a factor at ringside. Reed had some good power moves, Santana showed some fire. Reeds WWF showing was a dissapointment, this was a high point to me.
Umaga did an excellent job in that match. Balls has nothing good to say about what he offers, yet he admits he never saw this match.
