He could have flown commercial. But he had to fly himself.
The biggest tragedy are the people that he took with him. Not to mention the damage he caused. And of course, his family, who didn't deserve this.
Hey, idiot, he was not learning to fly to save himself from flying commercial. He was learning to fly so he could, at a whim, go golfing at Pebble Beach, or go play craps in Las Vegas. His family was all for this, as it allowed him to get home to them faster when he had a chance. Thurman Munson, for example, was flying ONLY for family reasons.
Whatever Lidle's reasons, its not up to you to engage in a harangue over it. Mind your business.
Oh, and in case you forgot....commercial planes crash too. You dont survive those either.

So let me get this straight: According to Balls, anyone who dies from something other than natural causes is an idiot?

I never said that anyone who died from something other than natural causes is an idiot. But anyone who takes an unnecessary risk, is an idiot. Or Tom. He's an idiot too just because.
Munson was indeed flying only for family reasons, and thanks to that bonehead move, his family had to be raised without a father. Commercial planes crash too, but nowhere near as often as these single engine planes. And the pilots of commercial airlines are a HELL of a lot more competent than baseball players.
Grover--did you just not get what I was saying? An American citizen that goes to the middle east is an idiot. He's taking a stupid risk. It's like skydiving. Yeah, the odds are in your favor, but if the chute doesn't open, you are still the idiot who jumped out of a plane.
Cory Lidle screwed Cory Lidle.

It's pretty much like this, he is an emplyee like any other. A highly paid emplyee too. Is it stupid to fly? No. Is it stupid to fly yourself when your emplyer has a vested interest in your contrubutions(or in Lidles case lack of) to your company/team, yeah that's pretty fucking stupid. Why put yourself at risk like that? The odds then just go up that that person could die. Yeah it can happen anywhere, anytime, but to increase the likelihood of death is beyond irresponsible to his family, and the yankees at the very least. This isn't some fucking greek tragedy, it's a fucking accident that lost lives, because that dope wanted to take a joy ride, a few thousand feet in the air. Yeah he geys asshole of the week award.
He couldn't pitch, and he couldn't fly.

Exactly. You take your chances getting up in the morning, crossing the street, or sticking your face in a fan. But what Lidle did was just stupid.

So any hobby people pursue in their free time that has the slightest element of danger is stupid?
I don't think baseball players should play chess. They might accidentally swallow a rook and choke to death.

It's not even in the ball park, the comparison to flying a small plane and being in the middle of a war.
Say that out loud. It sounds insane.
Now, you can he was an idiot if he never flew a plane before, walked by one and said "I'm going for a ride!!" without anyone to show him anything. But, that wsn't the case. He knew how to fly, and he had his instructor with him, who is good enough to teach people to fly.
Why is it stupid? Because it's not common? Neither is boating, but if a guy loses control of his boat and crashes in a freak accident are you going to go "What a dick, should have taken a ferry."?
Again, all sings right now point to the crash being a product of mechinical failure. Saying he should not be there is like saying someone should not have been in a car when the brakes go out.

Any hobby that someone pursues where if you fuck up, you die, is stupid.
And again Grover, please see the analogy and stop making it out like a war zone. You're taking a stupid risk.
And yes, he's an idiot. He may have had a license, but he clearly didn't know shit about flying, hence the crash. And the instructor obviously wasn't much better. But even if this flight was NOT pilot error, he was dumb just to be IN that plane, even with a qualified pilot.
A boating death is freakish. You can fall out of a boat and survive.
A car ride is not something that normally kills you when something goes wrong. You can't compare the two. THAT is a stupid comparison.
Flying in a small plane that carries 4 people is MORONIC. Flying in any type of plane that isn't commercial is moronic.
And Cory Lidle lost his life because of that idiotic decision.

Instructor was only 26, had just gotten his license as did Lidle. Just because you get your drivers license doesn't mean you know how to drive right away. I'm sorry there's other hobbies that can still be considered dangerous and not kill you. But bottom line is it could happen anytime regardless, but why volunterily subject yourself and increase the odds on your death? And also other peoples? Stupid and irresponsible.

People yeah, guys who get millions of dolars are retarded to chance throwing that away. Especially with a family. Name one good reason it's smart to increase the odds of death? Fun? A hobby? Give me a fucking break, the guy was an asshole.

LOL at a caller on Ron and Fez. One was a caller from the future, 6 years from now actually and they asked Ron who was Cory Lidle? Then, something amazing happened. There was a call from 3 days ago and THEY didn't know who Corey Lidle was.
Also, if you don't think this was stupid, think how much money the city will spend repairing this building, all the money on all the firefighters and stuff yesterday, all because some guy wanted to learn to fly over new york city. ASSHOLE!

Yeah, I guess people shouldn't have hobbies, passions, that may increase their chance of death. Everyone should just sit in their rooms all day and smoke weed and talk about what assholes other people are.
Yeah. Jw

Oh, before I forget, I have a nitpick.
I get home last night and flip on YES and they are simulcasting those two blowhards, Mike and Dog. They were talking about Lidle in respectful tones, and taking calls from this, that, and the other person. But something on screen bothered me. It was very out of place.
I thought I may be overreacting, so I called Dana in. Asked her what was out of place, and she picked it right out.
A stupid pumpkin.
Yeah, we know its Halloween season. The fall. But, considering the topic and the tone of the simulcast, could you have at least moved the silly pumpkin off the desk there?

Oh my god smoking jokes, got me there. Say what you want, I do damage to myself. When I get high and decide to fly a place and pull a Lidle, then I'll be the asshole.
Even funnier is that I barley even smome anymore, no need when I got heinekens. But yeah, Walkman John and his infinite wisdom showed me. I'm put in my place. Hey John, get a tan.

JW is NOT allowed to get a tan. If he gets a tan, he could get skin cancer and die and, thus, according to Balls and James, be deemed an idiot.

Let me get this straight. People shouldn't have hobbies that could result in injury or death? So I guess they should ban small planes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATV's, jetskis, water skis, hang gliders, snowboards, skis, etc...

All that shit is stupid. Though waterskiing and jet skiing aren't that risky. But even so, you take a risk like that, you deserve what you get.

I just read that Cigar Afficionado editor Marvin R Shanken, one of my favorite people, lives in the building that was smacked. I enjoy his magazine, which is all about the high life I can not afford to live.

If you get paid millions of dollars to throw a ball, yeah it is stupid. And if not for the sheer fact this is a major pain in the ass for the city. Yeah it's sad, but completly avoidable.

Bottom line is James is just as right about this as I am. Lidle's death was due to stupidity on his part. The sad part is that he left his kid without a father, took people with him, and caused severe damage to a couple of homes. All because he couldn't just fly a commercial flight.

If Cory Lidle was a plummer, you guys would be going on and on how he's an asshole. Because he was a pithcer, on the yankees, and all you old men can't stop thinking of Munson, fucking Shakespear himself pale in comparison to this unspeakable tragedy. Funny how we were all on MSBs case about being a yankee mark and yet I agee with him on this one due to nothing but simple logic. Yet you guys are holding the pinstripes on such a high pedistal, you guys are acting like fucking Jeter was on the pane. Quick, someone tell me when the funeral is so I can get there early, god knows there's going to be a line for blocks, more people will come to this than people did to Babe Ruths.A yankee fucking legend is dead. This is worse than Joe D, Mickey, Billy Martin and Thurman combined.
Asses.

If Cory Lidle was a plumBer, we wouldn't even know about his death.
Yeah, WE'RE Yankee Marks....it's ONLY us discussing it. Local news broadcasts across the country and ESPN Sportscenter, ESPN News, newspapers, and CNN didn't even make mention of this at all....because they're NOT Yankee Marks.

The issue here has nothing to do with him being a Yankee. It appears you and MSB have the hangup about him being an professional athlete and not flying commercial. Jw
