Well, get used to bitching about him, Balls, as he will be a Yankee next year. Mark my words. He's old enough, and he has now done the one thing that will make George give anything to acquire him... he's beaten, or rather completely shut down the Yankees in postseason play. The only thing that could make me more certain is Boston showing some interest in his 42-year-old ass...

Laura--if that happened, I would actually cheer him. It would be so pathetic you'd just have to laugh it off. I might even get a Kenny Rogers shirt.

Hell yeah. Anyone can get a shirt of a player that was good. It takes balls to wear a shirt of a player that sucks. I usually don't do it while they are on the roster, but I would make an exception for Kenny Rogers II.

I'm laughing at the crying over Rogers cheating.
I don't know if there is any dirt on his hands in the Yankees or A's starts. If there was, maybe there's a point. But here's the bottom line--his hands were clean after the second inning. Unless he had some sort of cheating stuff that was clear and not picked up by a camera, he's merely pitching over his head, not cheating.

People are walking around here at work today saying there are clips of him at points during the last two series' with the same patch of dirt on his hand. We shall see.
Too late to do anything about any of that now, anyway.

First, if there was such a patch of dirt in prior starts, then shame on the Yanks and A's for not catching it. It would make a little sense because Rogers just isn't that good. But it's not practical to do anything but ban Rogers from pitching the rest of the WS, and suspend him for a determined amount of games next year.

considering he's under contract for next year with the Tigers, I don't think that Balls has to worry.

It's horseshit. The media loves to make soemthing out of nothing when it comes to baseball.

Apparently someone was on ESPN-news saying that he was seen in the dugout with an awl in his hand between innings. They are speculating he was hiding it in his uniform to work over the ball. This story is taking on a life of its own now.

I edited the title of the thread. Cursing is fine and dandy, but not in the title - when I click on this thread the title comes up on my browser at work, and curses are filtered through and referenced and I am bound to get asked why I keep going to something with that stupid "f-ing" word in there. So just know I did not edit for no reason, I just dont want that coming up as a browser title in my visits at work. Just a heads up.

I was slightly rooting for Detroit this world series...solely for the fact that it would mean as a Yankee fan we can take SOME (although that amount is miniscule) solace in the fact that we would have lost to the eventual World Series champs - maybe there's slightly less shame in that...I don't know.
Anyway, I think my small favoritism toward Detroit has just swung over to St. Louis simply due to Kenny Rogers. This guy is just an asshole. Look, I don't care if a pitcher puts pine tar on his hand to get a better grip...if he can pull it off without getting caught, no sweat off my brow. But it's just one incident after another with this guy. He's a fucking dick. He's always been this way...he flies under the radar as Mr. Calm and Collected, and every now and then he has a little controversial flare-up, usually related to his attitude. You know, just as he was starting to gain a little bit of good-will from me....I was starting to feel for the guy a little bit as being a long-time decent pitcher with a hard-luck post-season story...and I actually felt he was deserving of his recent success in the post-season. And you see the guy in his post-game interviews and he's gracious and humble...and ya know to be honest, I turned off last night's game in the 7th, and had only watched it sporadically up until then, so I didn't know about the pine tar talk (until watching Sportscenter this morning). But what I did take notice of last night, and the previous start is that Kenny Rogers is becomingly increasingly and more annoyingly demonstrative on the mound and in the dugout. Being pumped up is one thing...but he's clearly crossed the line of showing up the other team and no one is calling him out on it because he gets a malarky pass a being an elder-statesman of the game. So what....if you're young and demonstrative (a' la Derek Lowe 2004) you're disrespecting the other team, but if your an old veteran you're just showing enthusiasm and a love for the game??? Fuck that...Rogers has reached Oil Can Boyd territory with his antics and it's annoying. His yelling in the dugout in the 9th last night, which in my mind was showing up his OWN TEAMMATE (Todd Jones) really set me over the edge last night...and this mornings’ pine tar news (whether worth a discussion or not) is just icing on the cake - you know...this pine tar thing is like T.O.'s alleged overdose....yeah OK maybe T.O. didn't try to overdose and maybe he was a victim of unfortunate circumstances this time -OR- maybe he's a nut and he did try to overdose ... but the point is, when you're a fucking asshole, stories like this tend to find you.....just like Kenny Rogers with the pine tar, and just like Kenny Rogers pushing a camera man.
Fuck him in the ear...fuck him in the other ear....Go Cards!

Why would you want to fuck Kenny Rogers in his ear? I don't get it.
