Worst World Series ever. I've seen slow pitch softball teams field better than the Tigers did. Pathetic.
Out of over 100 teams to win the World Series, the 2006 Cardinals are the worst team ever.
Awful. Just awful.

Yet they beat the team that CRUSHED the 2006 Yankees!
And most importantly...Kenny Rogers does NOT get a ring!

I'm going to side with Balls on this. This was a very unentertaining World Series.
We will agree to disagree about deserving and what not, but this World Series was TERRIBLE. This was worse than some sweeps. Just terrible basball by the Tigers, who played like scared kids in their first world series.
Hats off to the Cards, but FUCK THEM. What you couldn't do this in 2004? Assholes.
The last two games were ok, other than that, a very forgetable World Series.

Sweeps aren't bad. It's not so much the result of a World Series, but the play involved. The 1998 WS was a sweep, but holy crap Games 1 and 3 were exciting. The Yankees played great baseball there.
The Tigers did not. This was not the same Tigers team that had 2 good weeks against NY and Oakland. Grover's right--they played like scared little kids, which made no sense.
The reason the Cards didn't do this in 2004 was that they were playing a much better team.
I don't even think the last 2 games were ok. One game turned on an OFer falling on his ass because of shoddy weather. The other involved Detroit LITERALLY throwing it away. How can MLB pitchers make this many errors?
Pathetic.

Yeah, last years World Series was a sweep but the White Sox were fun to watch and that pitching staff was on point.
And it DOES make sense, because that's what they were, kids. The Tigers are a young team, and sometimes a young team can get hot and go far in the playoffs. The thing is, they played against a team of scrapy vets, and got outplayed.
JW made a good comparison, and it could be a scary one. This Tiger team is like the 82 Edmonton Oilers team. A young Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, and tons of young talent, but they met a team of vets in the Islanders in the Stanley Cup finals, and got swept. This cards team is far from the 80's Islanders, but you get the idea.
What were interested to see is if this is going to help the Tigers learn like that loss helped the Oilers.

I must say, though, those throwing errors by the Tiger pitchers were funny. So were the exasperated looks on thier faces when they made them. Leyland was angry enough to snap that he wishes they were able to hold fielding practice on the plane. I am sure the pitchers will be paying for this come next Spring Training.
FOX also piled on with a video of all the Tiger foibles and bad throws to the tune of Britney's "Oops, I did it again."
Boring series, yes. But bad baseball is still better than a lot of good other things.

So was the fan sign that read "Hit It To The Pitcher."

Speaking of fan signs, Cards fans had some of the worst I've ever seen. Most of them looked profesionally made too, so I wonder if one person made them and handed them out.

I think there were five different versions of "Its In The Cards!" signs.

The ones that made me laugh were, "Retaliate for '68!"
