When Posada came up in the first inning of today's Twins/Yanks game, the Twins announcer said ..... "And here's Jorse Cuer......JORGE POSADA up to bat."
Gee, I wonder what he was thinking about.

I need to clear some space on the respective DVRs - in the last few weeks I have recorded a few games, especially off of MLB Network, that I wish to keep for a time. I just set it to run and record on a VCR tape, 3 hours and 30 minutes worth, of Jays / A's playoffs 1989. I remember that series well, cause I was freshly away to college, and what a good mixer hanging and watching those games was.
Im going to sack now, with that recording and humming in the background till 5:30AM Eastern.
Last night I moved over Tom Seavers 300th win, from 1985, against our Yankees. Other games I have on the DVR right now include a Ryan no-no, and Mark Whitens 4 home run game. I will later watch these at leisure, jus stopping the tape wherever I leave off if I bit and piece view em.
I make baseball theme tapes, which i am going to fill with some cool specials, including one on Harveys Wallbangers, another on Roberto Clemente, and the 2008 AL and NL Plays of the Year specials from a couple of months ago.

Do you happen to have the pregame from Seaver's 300th? Wasn't that when the cow knocked Rizzuto over?

Watched a lot of "last nights" Giants / Royals game on MLB Net. Was chagrined to see it was not live, I dont like "canned games." Zito looked as bad as ever. Nice seeing Scottsdale again, one year ago tomorrow I was out there for a work shindig, and enjoyed the area. Coming back from commercials they were showing locales we had passed through.

Watched Dodgers/Angels last night.
Two things - the O-Dog looked good. That was a solid pickup by the Azule. After watching Jonathan Broxton, all I can say is that the Dodgers are really going to miss Saito.

The only good thing about him is that he keeps the ball down in the zone.

I hope Broxton can shake off the moon shot Stairs launched off him during the NLCS.

I watched the goddamn Dodgers dismantle Peavy and the Pads tonight.
Very nice game....nothing overly exiting...but really just a text book win. Solid Defense, moving runners around, and best of all (and who would have imagined it from Joe Torre) good situational baseball.
Case in point....Dodgers had a 3-1 lead, Kuroda allowed a single and walked a guy. He had 2 outs facing Adrian Gonzales - the Pads go-to bat. Kuroda nibbled the corners, got Gonzalez to a full count and eventually walked him. Torre brings in a reliever and they get Kouzmanoff out. That was solid. I think Kuroda did EXACTLY what he should have done with Gonzalez - try to get him out without pitching to him, and take his chances with the next guy.
This just pissed me off more about the Yankees. The Yankees just DON'T play situational baseball....the Yankees play Earl Weaver baseball, only they don't have the pitching to pull it off.

Royals/White Sox
Thank goodness Steve Stone moved from the radio booth back to television, so the TV games have something good to offset Hawk Harrelson.

Vin Scully...always a plethora of useless information. Why the hell does Vin know that Will Ohman has 9200 songs on his iPod?

Ohman is only 1000 behind me.
He was going on and on about Jody Gerut the other day. He even had a whole schpiel about how and why the name is spelled, and sounded, as it is. I am not really a fan of the one-man booth, but Scully keeps things intact with his factoids.
Last night I watched a healthy chunk of the Angels and A's before bed, as I wanted to see Trevor Cahill pitch. I am looking forward to a matchup last night between Blue Jays and Detroit, just to see fellow rooks Rickey Romero (a Cal State Fullerton product) facing off against Rick Porcello.

He also informed us last night that Doug Mientkiewicz "can't win either way" because his mother's maiden name is "Kechiemeister"
I watched some of that game too, Tom. Having said that, I'll take my comments to the "Giambi The Juicer" thread.

Got home and flipped on that Braves / Phils game, saw it was 10-3, and moved on after a couple of minutes. Missed the fun that is turning that into an 11-10 deficit.
I ended up watching Arizona taking it up the ass in their own right, but caught a snide Mark Grace remark, after he noted the scorecard showing a final score bringing the Nats down to 0-3 on the year. He cracked, "good to see things have changed in Washington."

The Dodgers are rolling, thanks in large part to the O-Dog!
Fucking AJ called for the Yanks to trade for this guy in the offseason!!!
I was listening to Dodger talk on the radio after the game yesterday, and this is who gay L.A. is....all they could talk about was a radio contest they're having to pick Jonathan Broxton's entrance song.

I was also a large advocate for Orlando Hudson, but I admit AJ was on that like a pig in poop. What I did not like were the guys sharing an affinity for Hudson, but as an outfielder. I wanted him to take Cano's job.

I still want him to take Cano's job.
I don't care what Cano is doing now...his demeanor is STILL extremely lazy and that will eventually catch up to his on-the-field performance. Did you see that AB where he broke his bat yesterday - I have not seen hacks that lazy since...well, since Cano's previous at bat.
I'll be happy when Cano is no longer a Yankee.

I just watched Darren O'Day, just claimed off of waivers today by the Rangers, come into the game in the 11th, wearing Kason Gabbard's jersey, since they did not have a uniform for him. Is that even legal? I guess Toronto isn't worried about that though, since the 1st batter he faced poked the game winning hit into the gap. Still, an odd thing to see, a pitcher wearing someone else's jersey, name and number, on the mound.

It doesn't matter what name is on the back. And as long as the player is wearing a number that no one else on his team is wearing that game, it's fine.
I should add that the name usually has to be approved if it's not the player's last name (like "Ichiro"), but that's generally to prevent nicknames. The important thing, though, is that the uniform matches and they have a number. Though I don't personally think the number is even all that important.

At least the team's name was correct. Anyone see the Natinals jerseys the other day?

Post by IronHorse4 on Apr 23, 2009 15:18:28 GMT -5
I've seen where one jersey has been incorrect plenty of times, but there were actually TWO jerseys that day that omitted the "O" on the front. That's terrible quality control.
