Last night was a baseball extavaganza, watched the Yankees, then toggled back and forth between the A's/RedSox and Pads/Dodgers games.
I was impressed with the last half of the Dodgers/Padres game I caught. Dodgers lost a great pitching duel 1-0 and I saw Hoffman notch his 499th save! Padres’ starter, 6 foot 10 Chris Young looked very impressive. The NL West is a solid division right now.

I did the same, except for Padres-Dodgers. The Boston-Oakland game was a good watch (and I'm not just saying that because the pigfuckers lost).

It would have been perfect if Ellis hit the next pitch over the wall to win the game. But I'll take the broken-up no-hitter. Fuck Schilling.

Good Lord!
The Dodgers take a 5-1 lead into the 9th. A miss-fire by Kent, an error by Garciapara, a single, another Garciapara blunder trying to make the tag at first on his own rather than tossing it to the pitcher Broxton (I chuckle at those old "Nomar Is Better" rants), an intentional walk, another single....all amount to the Padres tying the game with bases loaded, 1 out, and Broxton gives up the walk-off BB!!!!!
EDIT: Broxton went "Farnsworth" last night

I just saw Al Pujols take out the Padres battery in one inning. First he lines a pitch off the face of Chris Young, who took it flush. Pujols walked out and joined the crowd forming around Young, who was sitting there dazed and bloody. He then joined Padre 1B Adrian Gonzalez in a prayer. Young walked off with help.
Soon after, coming around to score on a hit, Pujols slid in and wrecked Josh Bard's ankle. It did one of those pointing in the wrong direction sorta things. He ended up being dragged off, with that ankle / leg of no use to him. Way to go Pujols, way to knock a pitcher AND a catcher out of the game.

I just watched Randy Johnson tie Roger Clemens for second on the all-time whiff list, but in his attempt to pass him he was foiled. Lots of hoopla as he closed out his last inning, crowd on the feet for the 2-strike bash a few times, but in the end, all grounders.
Itll have to hold for another 5 days, at the least.

Got the Marlins and Braves on, a nice afternoon tilt. First base ump just made a wretched call, the dreaded "safe...no out" motion when a batter was like, a foot past the bag. Terrible blown call. Fredi Gonzalez came storming out and was ejected for his trouble. Apparently this ump is a fill-in guy, and he is behind home plate tomorrow, and the Marlin announcers are yukking it up about all the fun possibilities of such. What was funny is while Fredi was out there hemming and hawing, the announcers were hollering, "get him! yeah, give it to him!"

Silly Joba did it the other day when that woman who was too busy talking to notice what was going on in the field was beamed with a foul ball while he was on the mound.
So anyhow last night I was thinkin bout how I paid $150 for the MLB package, and need to get my moneys worth. I have a bit of baseball on every night....during commercials between other shows, in picture in picture during Yankee games or other sports or even shows, before bed, once I get home etc. But I dont get to see a lot of full out of market tilts. Want to get my moneys worth.
So last night watched a healthy chunk of the Giant / Rockie battle. I like picking random games, and just watching ball. Great game too, for the pitching fan. 0-0 heading to the 9th.

Best part about that Giants game was the run scoring on the Sac Fly. The home plate umpire called the runner out even though the catcher didn't even have the ball, and you see the Giants pitcher pumping his fist thinking the inning was over. But then the ump saw the ball, kinda pointed to it, and was too lazy to give the safe sign and just walked off the field. Jw

So tonight I am going to watch one of those games for the ages, the last place Mariners vs the last place Nationals in as meaningless an interleague game as you can get. I want to see RA Dickey pitch, specially since he is floating the knuckleball at this stage of his career. The two teams have combined records around 50-100.
Should be a fun ramble! Late night Friday game, and beer will be on the menu!

This was an odd sorta thing. After seeing the Yankees getting a drubbing for a bit, I flipped around. Found the Nats / Phillies. Nationals telecast. Well, Ryan Langerhans comes into the game when the Nats have to do some shuffling when Zimmerman exits stage left due to some sort of injury.
So whats next. A phonecall, on the air, during the game....with Ryans DAD. His Dad coached him back home in Texas. This went on for like, 10 minutes. It was a horrid inning, with walks, errors, and a strikeout of Kyle Kendrick which saw him take first on a dropped pitch and wild throw.
So yeah, there is a phone discussion during the broadcast, while they keep cutting to shots of Langerhans just standing there in the outfield looking bored.
It was, odd.

More like the Games I WILL BE watching.
I am in the process of squaring away the logistics involved to facilitate my taking in of TWO major league baseball games on Wed 9/11.
The Yankees play an afternoon game in Anaheim, then later my brother-in-law (a Dodger fan) wants to meet up at Petco to see the Blue take on the Madres.
At least I will be able to see ONE game that has playoff ramifications that day! OUCH!

Has anyone done this?
Any of you see a game at the Stadium and a game at Shea on the same day?

The Yankee / Met day night doubleheader when Piazza got whonked in the head. I got really drunk during the first stop of the trip, and hardly remember making the second part of the sojurn. I know Justin this very year did a double-dip to see the White Sox and the Cubs host home tilts.

This should be a hoot! Petco is a nice place to watch a game....a nightmare to park, but once you're in the Stadium, it should be nice.
It might be a bit of a downer coming from the Yankees/Angels....after all, when is the last time ANY of us have attended a Yankee game that (most likely) NO enthusiastic anticipation for October-baseball was in the air?

I've done two of the Yankees-Mets doubleheaders in separate stadiums, and I've done a couple of Shea-Yankee double-dips. The one that sticks out the most was the Yankees-Indians in a day game when piece of shit 3B Mike Blowers made four horrific errors in the last three innings, leading to a bushel of unearned runs and the Yanks coughing up a huge lead. Then, I believe the Mets-Reds tilt that night was Davey Johnson's last game before getting fired as Mets manager.

That was funny.
It must be some sort of adult wood bat league - many of these dudes had gray hair, IF they had hair. There were some young dudes in there too.
