The new release from Armored Saint, "La Raza", which dropped today. Got up 10 minutes early so I could download off Amazon mp3 for $7.99, and throw on my Zune. Its good stuff, you know what you get with this band. And bless John Bush, one of the greatest voices in metal.

My birthday playlist: NOFX - Ribbed PJ Harvey - Dry Heavens - Patent Pending (Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio - His side project. 80's dark, new wave sound a la the Cure/Depeche Mode but not dancey).

Its ok, nothing blew me away, but word is if you like Armored Saint, you will like this. It fits the formula. This is their first studio recording in 10 years. Solid effort, but I still prefer the 80s version. Right now Im listening to - -

Im listening to another in a litany of DIO tributes. Stumbled upon this one off the Blabbermouth site. Started this once I got back from lunch at 1, and it will take me through the end of the workday. Direct link below www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=140411 RONNIE JAMES DIO: Five-Hour 'Black Night Meditations' Tribute Available For Streaming - May 20, 2010 On Tuesday May 18, WSCA 106.1 FM in Portsmouth, New Hampshire — birthplace of Ronnie James Dio — honored the metal legend by broadcasting a five-hour tribute on the show "Black Night Meditations". The 40 songs from Dio's career that were played included many unreleased live cuts, a rare live ELF cover from 1972 of the BLACK SABBATH classic "War Pigs" and a RONNIE DIO & THE PROPHETS song from 1962. Fan-submitted comments were read on air, including thoughts from members of BENEDICTUM, DECEASED and FAITH FACTOR.
WSCA 106.1 FM is a non-commercial radio station broadcasting from Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
"Black Night Meditations" is WSCA's four-hour metal show focusing on black, death, thrash, folk, shred, power, prog and traditional metal.
