From what I am reading the playlist may change a bit by the time they darken these shores. They had not played India in a long while, and busted out some crowd favorites like "Fear of the Dark." There is a good deal of speculation that later era stuff will bounce by the time they play out here, and some other Powerslave / Somewhere in Time tunage will replace.

I guess it's three-way battle royale. Any more? The DWARVES mascot might make an appearance, but we're not sure yet if he even has a body:

I don't know...as evident from "The Massacre" sleeve, the Exploited Skull is as fond of bloodshed and medieval weaponry as Eddie is. I don't know enough about Vic's skillset to speculate.

BRUCE DICKINSON Slams BLABBERMOUTH.NET 'Twits' Who 'Can't Read English' - Mar. 23, 2008
IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson was interviewed by Eddie Trunk of the "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on March 14 prior to the band's concert at the Izod Center (formerly Continental Airlines Arena) in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A couple of excerpts from the chat — which aired this past Friday night (March 21) on New York's Q104.3 FM — follow:
On the catalyst for revisiting the "Powerslave" set on the current tour:
"We said we were gonna do this five years ago. We set out a 10-year plan five years ago for what we were gonna do with the band, and we're following it — to the letter, actually. When I got back together with the band, we said, 'We will go out and we will do some of the old stuff as a get-back-together, warm-up tour, and then we will get together and do an album that's gonna be a really good album.' And everybody went, 'Ahhhh, yeah, they all say that.' And we went, 'No, no, no — we're really serious.' We came out with 'Brave New World', we did the 'Brave New World' tour, and that was a really big success. So then we went back and then we did the 'Dance of Death' album and we did the 'Dance of Death' tour, and that was an even bigger success. And then we said, 'Oh, by the way, after the next tour, we're gonna bring back the 'Powerslave' album, but the next tour we do in-between will be all-new material. So 'A Matter of Life and Death' came out — huge success around the world, a bit of controversy stirred up by a few people that wouldn't shell out and buy the album… Tough. We're not a revival band, we're not an archetype… well, not an archetype — we are actually an archetype — but we're not archaic in that sense, that we're some old fossil, dragging the bones of old songs around. What you'll see tonight is not just a celebration of a lot of those songs, it's a celebration of a lot of young, new fans who've never seen us play these songs. But the reason we have those new fans is nothing to do with our history, it's to do with the new albums that we've made in the last three-four years. It's probably less of a case for that in the United States than anywhere else in the world, but everywhere else in the world, that is the case. So if a few people are a little bit behind the times, it's just tough — they get left behind. The rest of the world is proceeding at break-neck speed. Witness 50,000 people in Mexico City and so on and so forth — through South America, through Europe… The doors are falling off when it comes to IRON MAIDEN now."
On planning several years ahead and announcing tour dates in stages rather than all at once:
"As I say, there's all kinds of plans. When we first got back together, we said we were gonna do this, and we did, and then we said we were gonna do this and this and this, and we've done it all. It's like when we put the dates out for the western part of the USA. We said, 'Here's part one of the dates,' and we released the dates for the western part of the USA. And what did we get? We got a whole load of twits ['twit' is a British slang word for an 'insignificant, foolish or annoying person,' according to Wikipedia — Ed.] on Blabbermouth that can't read English that went, [adopting the vocal tone of moron-like heavy metal fan] 'Wow, they're only doing four shows in the USA,' because they don't read English. Well, you know, there you go. So for those people who think that people are only showing up because we're doing 'Powerslave', I have to say, 'Think again. You're probably the same sorts of people that don't read English.' And for those people, of course, they can show up to the New York show on the 14th and 15th of June, I believe — PNC and Madison Square Garden — and a few other places as well. We're doing Chicago, just to annoy people who aren't in Chicago; Cleveland, to really piss off anybody that doesn't live in Cleveland; Boston… ahhh, you know; and you just know that Shreveport is just going berserk as we speak, 'Where's our show?' And Washington and a few other places; some of them I may have forgotten."
On putting 100% into everything they do and keeping fans happy:
"We try not to let people down. We're not a reality show. Most of the media is now almost exclusively obsessed with the cult of celebrity, not with the cult of content of any description whatsoever. And IRON MAIDEN is not about celebrity — IRON MAIDEN is all about content. So people who care about that kind of stuff, of which there are a large… probably a large… majority, minority… anyway, a hell of a lot of people… can come to our show and get some kind of rest from homemade porno tapes, Playboy models and cribs and all the other B.S. that masquerades for content and sort of vacuousness that invades our everyday lives — whether you like it or not."

Back in the day, with me right down in the area, I would so be on this...Domi, Walkman John....get down there. BRUCE DICKINSON's 'Chemical Wedding' Movie: NYC 'Sneak Showing' Scheduled For This Weekend - June 9, 2008 "Chemical Wedding", the supernatural horror-thriller written by IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson and longtime "Monty Python" editor Julian Doyle, who also directed the film, will have a "sneak showing" on Sunday, June 15 at Two Boots Pioneer Theatre in New York City. Doyle will attend the screening and answer questions at the end of the film. The showing will be held at 12:15 a.m. Sunday night (technically morning of Monday, June 16).
The Two Boots Pioneer Theater 155 East 3rd Street (between Avenues A and B) New York, New York (212) 591-0434 www.twoboots.com/pioneer
Dickinson was in Cannes last month to show off "Chemical Wedding". Dickinson, a registered commercial airline pilot, flew himself to the south of France, along with a bunch of journalists and fans.

Dickinson is not the first rocker to be inspired by Crowley, who died in 1947. LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page was a big collector of Crowley's writings and even bought his Scottish estate. OZZY OSBOURNE, meanwhile, eulogized him in the song "Mr. Crowley".

IRON MAIDEN Hit By Power(slave) Outage At Madison Square Garden - June 16, 2008 A BLABBERMOUTH.NET user has submitted the following report:
"There was a strange event right in the middle of [IRON MAIDEN's] set [at Madison Square Garden in New York City Sunday night, June 15]. Halfway through the song 'Powerslave', the power died to the sound system, and MAIDEN were onstage with full lights, shrugging their shoulders. I was right behind the soundboard, and there was never any problem at that end. In fact, [cycling star] Lance Armstrong and [actress] Kate Hudson were standing beside the mixing board making out, which made the whole situation even weirder. Who's the MAIDEN-head in that celebrity family? Anyway, obviously this was a high point of their set, and within a minute after the stalls the band produced a soccer ball on stage and began kicking it around to entertain the fans while the technical nightmare continued. After about ten minutes of silence, Bruce Dickinson picked up one of the Egyptian sarcophagi and began using it as a shield to play soccer. He was pretty good with it, too! This entire time, the lights were fine, and the soundboard was perfectly okay and didn't appear to be reset. There was definitely no panic at the board. Suddenly and happily, Steve Harris's galloping bass reappeared in the monitors, and the band regrouped and moved onto the next song. My friends and I were joking that this was a long-distance dedication from Sharon Osbourne, and evidently Dickinson thought the same. As soon as his mic worked, he muttered dramatically something like: 'The revenge of Sharon...the wicked witch of the west rises again!' Strong words, preached to a crowd of 18,000. MAIDEN had spent the whole night, and indeed the past two years, proving themselves leagues above the egg-throwing spat at Ozzfest 2005. Evidently, they are still sensitive to the long-reaching powers of the Sharon. Why would he even joke about that if he didn't think it was possible?"

Great show, glitch aside. That was truly weird. Everything just went silent right after "slave to the power of death." The impromptu soccer game was actually kind of funny.

IRON MAIDEN Documentary To Premiere In April - Jan. 20, 2009 IRON MAIDEN's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"As you may know from Rod's [Smallwood; MAIDEN manager] tour diaries, IRON MAIDEN have been working on a feature-length documentary. Entitled 'Iron Maiden: Flight 666', the movie follows the band on the first leg of their 'Somewhere Back In Time World Tour' in February and March of 2008 as they experienced the most ambitious and adventurous tour in rock history, and will be released in April 2009 in association with EMI Records and Universal in the USA.
"The MAIDEN tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customized Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold-out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, travelling 70,000 km and performing to almost half a million fans.
"The band were accompanied everywhere by award-winning documentary makers Banger Productions from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey' and recently 'Global Metal'. Producer/presenter Sam Dunn and his team bring an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of this remarkable journey, with a close look at the logistics involved and following Team Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane and on and offstage, getting to the heart of this global adventure of a band that has very rarely even let cameras backstage before.
"Shot in high definition and with superb 5.1 surround sound, mixed by the band's producer Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley, 'Flight 666' brings to the screen all the drama, excitement and hysteria that followed the band around the world every time Ed Force One [the band's plane] touched down in a new country. The film documents the intensity of the punishing show schedules, the struggle with the time zones, the pressures of ensuring that every performance matched the energy of the many thousands of ecstatic and expectant fans from many cultural backgrounds, unusual angles from the spectacular shows... and of course the fun had on the way!.
"'Iron Maiden: Flight 666' is an honest and revealing portrait of one of the world's most successful rock bands and a must-see for all MAIDEN fans.
"A special international 'Iron Maiden Day' is being planned for April 21 with simultaneous showings of 'Iron Maiden: Flight 666' in selected digital cinemas around the world. We will, of course, bring you more information on this nearer the time."

IRON MAIDEN Vs. 'Iron And The Maiden' - May 5, 2009 According to TMZ.com, British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have filed a lawsuit against a company which named its comic book "Iron and the Maiden".
MAIDEN is suing Iron and the Maiden, LLC — because, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, the "confusingly similar" name was a ploy used to profit off the band's heavily trademarked name.
MAIDEN wants the company to stop using the Iron and the Maiden name to sell its comic books, video games and other merchandise — and also wants some money for the trouble.

I normally think suits like this are a joke and big-time money grabs by people or organizations that are already flush with cash, but Iron Maiden definitely has a point with this one. Look how small the "and the" letters are.

Comic Book Creator Says IRON MAIDEN's Lawsuit Is 'Completely Without Merit' - May 6, 2009 A spokesperson representing Jason Rubin, the creator of the Iron and the Maiden comic book, has released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET in reponse to a lawsuit filed by the British heavy metal band IRON MAIDEN.
MAIDEN is suing Rubin's comic book company, Iron and the Maiden LLC, because, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, the "confusingly similar" name was a ploy used to profit off the band's heavily trademarked name.
A spokesperson representing Mr. Rubin and his companies, Iron and the Maiden LLC and Morgan Rose LLC, released the following statement:
"The Iron and the Maiden legal team believes that this case is completely without merit. It is outrageous to claim ownership of the well-known term 'Iron Maiden,' a medieval torture device that predates rock and roll by centuries and is part of world culture, legend, and lore.
"The comic book at the center of this case, 'Iron and the Maiden', is set in an alternate universe 1930s. The main character, Michael Iron, and his maiden, Angel Chase, are two very different characters forced together by circumstances. The title is a play on the torture device. Any rational person who looks at the property at www.ironandthemaiden.com will immediately understand how ridiculous the assertions made in the complaint are."
IRON MAIDEN wants Iron and the Maiden LLC to stop using the Iron And The Maiden name to sell its comic books, video games and other merchandise. Not only do they wish the materials pulled, but they are also seeking an undisclosed amount for damages/costs.

IRON MAIDEN Drummer Opens Rib Joint In Coral Springs - Oct. 31, 2009 IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain — who lives in South Florida — has partnered up with close friend, guitarist, and restaurateur Rick "Moby" Baum to open Rock 'N' Roll Ribs. A barbecue joint with a musical bent, RnR Ribs will showcase the pair's love for smokey Southern cooking with food like barbecued pork and chicken and clever takes on MAIDEN songs like "Run to the Hills" wings. New Times spoke with McBrain and Baum about their plans for the rib shack, their BBQ background, and how it all came together in the first place.
New Times: So Nicko, sounds like you're something of a foodie.
Nicko: Oh, without a doubt. I'm a right snob when it comes to food. I know what I like and what I don't like.
New Times: So when did you first get into barbecue?
Nicko: I don't know when I became a fan exactly, but touring America [with MAIDEN] we came to a lot of barbecue joints, probably because most of them had a nice bar. And then I fell into back garden parties and barbecuing in general.
New Times: How did you two meet?
Nicko: We actually met through Rick's friend Nathan who is a friend of my son Justin. After we met we got to know one another a bit and beat each other up a couple of times. Then we started playing music together and we've had a great friendship ever since. Later on, I found out Rick was a chef extraordinaire.
New Times: When did you guys start barbecuing together?
Nick: In a nutshell, Rick came 'round my house one day and said, "Nicko, I have these amazing ribs I want you to try." And he cooked them up for me and I thought, "Well, I've always loved spare ribs but these are to die for." So I finally squeezed his bullocks a bit to get his recipe.
Rick: He actually did. [Laughs]
Nicko: Yes, I squeezed it right out. [Laughs] So we started concocting these ribs together. I'd do some ribs, he'd do some, and we'd go back and forth. One day I put a sauce together; I basically added some things to what he already had and he actually complimented me and said, like, [in a thick British accent] "Blimey, this sauce is lovely!"
New Times: So when did the idea for a restaurant come about?
Nicko: We were down at the pub one night and down a few beers and I said, "This is a fucking great idea, let's open a rock 'n' roll rib joint together." That was about five or six years ago. We had a couple of false starts looking for the right location and all, but Rick has some experience in setting up restaurants over the last 20 years or so, so he knows what to do. And a friend of ours works for Cheney Brothers, so we had access to the right ingredients. We just had to find the right location and funding. Another friend of ours, Mitch Tanne, and I brought the financing, and Rick brings his expertise and knowledge of cooking and running a small kitchen. Our kitchen is small, and the place seats about 70 people. The cooking will be mayhem I think, but it's going to be quite rock and roll.Rock 'N' Roll Ribs 4651 State Rd. 7, Suite 1, Coral Springs 33076 561-909-8334 www.rocknrollribs.com

IRON MAIDEN: North American Tour Announcement Coming Next Week? - Feb. 26, 2010 British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN are expected to make an announcement about possible 2010 North American live dates on Thursday, March at 3:00 p.m. EST. No further information is currently available.
IRON MAIDEN recently finished recording its new album at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley. According to a posting on Kevin's official web site, "There's still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak."
Shirley previously worked on the last three MAIDEN albums — 2000's "Brave New World", 2003's "Dance of Death" and 2006's "A Matter of Life and Death".
The next IRON MAIDEN album will be the band's fifteenth studio record, and they face a challenge to follow up "A Matter of Life and Death", which was received well critically and saw the group play the whole album on tour.
Speaking at last year's premiere of the band's documentary film "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", guitarist Adrian Smith stated, "There's always a bit of pressure to follow up the last album. In a way, it's good, because it motivates you.
"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do — we've been doing it long enough now; we know what we're doing. [laughs]"
IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers revealed to BBC News in November that the band was on its way "to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff." He added, "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."
IRON MAIDEN will headline this year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.
