I always enjoyed this thread at section39.com www.namestatistics.com/My last name is ranked number #33,592 out of a possible 88,799 logged last names in the U.S. 0.0005% of the people in the U.S. have my last name. There are approximately 1250 people in the U.S. with my last name. However, the stats for my first name are: #10 of 1129 logged Male names. 1.035% of men in the U.S. are named Christopher. Approx 1267875 U.S. men are name Christopher. (the website distinguishes between actual names and their shortened versions: Chris/Christopher, Thomas/Tom, Steve/Stephen, etc...)

Without clicking on that link I can tell you my last name is a cool # 5 in these United States. I did this on MySpace.
And good call with the thread, until we decide wether or not to throw a whole section to Missing Link type material, house them in here. Cheers.

I saw something like this on a MySpace survey recently. I have one of those rare names that isn't even ranked. It took me until I hit law school before I even learned that there was anyone with the same last name that I'm not related to. I have found no evidence of anyone with my first and last name (Marc with a C) that isn't me.

Balls - are you talking about your combined first and last names? SURELY there must be a large number of MARCs in the country.

Well, all I know is from Googling myself, all I've ever come up with are links to my own profile for a Software Configuration Management online community, a letter I wrote to OC Weekly a few years back, my buddy from Texas talkin' sh-t on me in his blog, one mortgage guy in Illinois who seems to plug his "get rich quick" scams on any online forum he can find, a bookie, and a youth basketball player in Ireland.

Balls, do you stop posting long enough to read what anyone else posts? I mentioned this was a MySpace thing floating around in the post just above yours. Thats the second time today you came on right after one of my posts saying the same thing as if it was breaking news. Please read the posts ahead of yours before you start to type.

A common misspelling of my last name shows up as #2393 but the proper spelling doesn't show up at all.

Check out this moron in China. Twit crashes her car teaching her dog to drive!
Li, said her dog "was fond of crouching on the steering wheel and often watched her drive," according to Xinhua.
"She thought she would let the dog 'have a try' while she operated the accelerator and brake," the report said. "They did not make it far before crashing into an oncoming car."
And I thought Paris Hilton was was an idiot.

Ouch of the day....
From an Atlanta police report, summarized in a July issue of the weekly Creative Loafing: A man working on a house on Smith Street was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries to his posterior. He happened to be bending over next to a wall that, unknown to him, a worker on the other side was drilling into, and the drill bit entered his "anal cavity."

I think that was the story that he told the ER technicians when in fact he was probably getting railed by a drilldo.

Urban legend! I read that same story back when I was in college, almost 20 years ago. Unless this happened "Again" its the same old phony yarn making the rounds again.

I noticed our newest member signed up goes by "dman." This made me think of a story I saw on E! last night - Saved By The Bell geek Screech pandering to the public for free money! FREE MONEY. In the words of my highly-conservative software developer friend, "FREE MONEY? ? I WORK and I don't even get FREE MONEY!" Dustin Diamond (aka "The DMAN" - isn't it gay when you AKA yourself?) CLAIMS, based on the success of this website and his cause, he'll use to site to come to the aid of selected people with other hard luck stories: www.getdshirts.com/

No way that story is for real (meaning Dustin Diamond's?)
The website is real. He's really asking for public donations via his lame t-shirt sales.
But whether or not him crying poverty is real...well, I'd agree with you. HIS claim on E! Channel last night is that people overestimate the Saved By The Bell Money. It was "Saturday Morning, not Prime Time." Diamond claims to have made $1250 per week on the show. I doubt that, BUT, even at $1250 per week, that translates to roughly 68K annually. You can't tell me that Diamond wasn't pulling in at least 100+K a year with additional appearances and other money made off the Screech name.
Having said that, being that Wisconsin probably offers fairly cheap real estate, I have to think that Diamond is either malarkyting or that he blew his money frivolously.
A side note...anyone ever notice the facial resemblance between Dustin DIAMOND and the Beasties Boys' Mike DIAMOND? Hmmmm...

I smell a rat here with this link. In the very first post in this thread, Cho posted that his name is shared with about "1250 people." Looks like its just spitting out a number, what are the odds you two have last names ranking right there with one another?
