This is for those little TV notes which may interest someone somewhere, but are not worthy of their own thread per se.
Appears to be an I LOVE TOYS marathon tomorrow afternoon kicking off at 1PM. 100-1 counted down with the obligatory chatter from the C list comedians straight through, over FIVE plus hours. If you have a lot of DVR/TIVO space to burn, its worth the shot. If not, throw in a 6 hour videotape and run tape. Dana and I watched it, it was fun enough, but it took us months to get through.
All those toys of yore are there, and a lot of the picks will get you mad, in terms of pecking order.

Z-Rock was REALLY funny this past week.
Check this show out on IFC.
Kind of like .... I don't know...The Office meets Spinal Tap meets Flight Of The Conchords.

Cho, I decided to check out Z-Rock after reading your post. Very funny show. The style of humor kind of reminds me of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I'm definitely going to DVR the rest of the episodes out there.
Tom, all providers carry the IFC channel. It just depends on your plan whether or not you get it. It's part of Verizon's movie package. Cablevision has it as long as you have the IO Silver package...

I dont have the applicable package - when I turn on IFC it gives me a number to call to order. I pay enough as it is, with the WWE 24/7 package and FSN College package as well. I'll need to live vicariously through you guys in regards to Z-Rock.
Whats funny is the first time I heard "Z-Rock" I thought of the AM heavy rock station of the same name, from a couple of decades ago round these parts.

T,
There are three episodes of Z Rock coming up on my DVR. I'll record them to a DVD for you to check out at your leisure.

I guess this is the appropriate thread. I have entered the world of Flat-Screen, Hi-Def TV viewing. Disclaimer - I photoshopped the hanging cables off of the bottom of this photo...I will not drill into the wall and run the cables through the wall until Mr. DirecTV shows up later this week with my new HD dish and receiver.

That is indeed sharp. But I must say frankly I am more safisifed with our decent sizes screen TV less than 10 feet from the couches. I can swear this - I will never end up with a TV on my wall. Dont watch it. I do see the appeal, and I am happy for you. But not my style.

I don't think you can say that you will NEVER end up with a TV on your wall, when/if that becomes the market standard.
Eventually you WILL need a new TV, and if that's your only choice.....
Eventually all TV will be HD. I never really considered buying one of these things....primarily because of the cost AND the fact that you have to not only endure the cost of the TV, but then you have to pay the cable/satellite company MORE $$$$ for the special equipment, AND pay a higher monthly rate (about 18 bucks) for the so-called HD satellite feed.
BUT....for my b-day, my wife went out and bought the thing. So, while HD, flat screen TVs, weren't my priority....neither was a complete set of 2008 Topps baseball cards, but I'm stoked my wife hooked me up with them, nonetheless.
BTW - I think I'm less than 10ft. way....or maybe right at 10.

So tonight is one of those problem nights with everything we watch on at once. I will even have to shun the DVR and tape something on the VCR in the bedroom as I cant watch / tape 3 things at once.
House is on at 9, i will tape and jump on around half past the hour to watch without commercials. The Sheild is on at 10, i then move over there. While that is going on, Law and Order SVU and ECW wrestling are also on. I will DVR the wrestling and tape SVU in the bedroom. We still have last nights 2 hour Heroes premiere to watch in the next few days as well.

I dont think the 8PM thing was a recap as much as it was a "red carpet premiere" with the idiot cast showing up at a pre-party and doing softball interviews. In fact, someone at work confirmed to me that they watched it and the 2 hour show, and came out more confused than they were going in.
Heroes is testing my last nerve. We have not seen the 2 hour premiere, and may do so tonight. But if the show continues to get too cute we may hop off.

The problem with Heroes is that it's been nearly a year, and they didn't do a great recap at 9:00, so I barely remember where the characters are.

No, actually the problem is that after one week I barely remember where the characters are. Not only are there too many of them milling around doing nothing, they are ADDING MORE THIS YEAR!

I'm looking forward to this one!!!!!
Little Britain USA is 'too crude' The stars appear "naked" in prosthetic body suits during one sketch US television critics have warned viewers of the "crude" humour in Matt Lucas and David Walliams' stateside sketch show, Little Britain USA.
Variety magazine complained that the show's wit "seldom rises above what's scrawled on a school bathroom wall".
Even positive reviews said the show was "not for the easily offended", and many singled out a pair of naked, steroid-enhanced bodybuilders for criticism.
The show debuts in the US this Sunday, and on BBC One on 3 October.
The US spin-off, which was made for cable channel HBO, features regular characters like Daffyd Thomas and Marjorie Dawes alongside several new American creations.
They include Mildred, who shares inappropriate secrets from her past with grandson Connor, and Bing Gordyn, the eighth astronaut to fly to the moon.
Whatever we do, no matter how outrageous, it's done with warmth
David Walliams US critics have had a mixed reaction to the show - with Variety magazine's Brian Lowry being particularly scathing.
"Little Britain's laughs are as puny as its ambitions," he wrote.
Tom Shales, writing in the Washington Post, was disappointed by the amount of "recycled material" from the UK version of the show.
He added that some of the sketches were "too tasteless even for a celebration of bad taste".
Tim Goodman, from the San Francisco Chronicle, agreed: "They seem more intent on shocking than on being wildly, but hilariously inappropriate".
'Delightful'
Others were more positive about the programme, with USA Today critic Robert Bianco praising the "speed, skill and good humour" of its stars and the the "cheeky, modern effrontery" of the characters.
The Hollywood Reporter's Barry Garron called the series "delightful", while Jonah Krakow of IGN.com said the writing was "as absurd and outrageous as ever".
Marjorie Dawes brings her Fat Fighters club to the USA Rob Owen, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, admitted viewers unfamiliar with the UK series might be "stunned" by gym buddies Tom and Mark, and the "full-frontal shots of their anatomically correct, muscley prosthetic body suits".
But, he said, Little Britain USA was a "good laugh" and "generally more successful" than the current series by fellow British sketch comedian Tracey Ullman.
Speaking ahead of the programme's premiere, Walliams told US reporters it was not his intention to shock US audiences.
"I would hope, though, that whatever we do, no matter how outrageous, it's done with warmth," he said.
"There's a feeling of silliness there, which stops it being unpleasant."

Yeah, what's up with that? $120? ? And NO HBO? Once the Hi Def kicks in (hasn't yet) I'll be around the mid 90s for my DirecTV subscription. What...do you have phone and INTERNET tied into your plan as well?

Season Two started of Californication last night, fucking great episode. A lot of LOL moments. And Dexter continues to be one of the best shows on TV, fuck is that show creepy in a good way. If you missed it last night, check it out. I'm not sure when it's on next, but there's replays all week, that's why there's fucking TIVO and a TV guide. But if you familiar with the shows, and got nothing on, it may be worth a watch.

Dude, its WAAAAYYY too late. You cant hop on a show like that in the middle. You watch from the beginning, or you are lost. I cant imagine what you must have been going through.....dude, the show is confusing to people who have watched since episode 1. No way you can jump in now. I would have told you not to waste your time.
What you SHOULD consider is buying Season 1 on DVD if you get a good price on it, and go from there.

The wife has season 1 coming on Netflix. After trying to watch it this week, and I had contemplated removing it from my queue.
Maybe I'll give it a shot from season 1.

What IS good for a newbie with Heroes is that Season 2 was cut severely short by the writers' strike. So yes, it is very possible to make a comeback, but Tom is 100 percent right about starting at Season 1.
The only show I can think of that would be harder to jump in right now would be Lost.
