So that's why he's 1-4 in the playoffs?

Hey, I'd be there. I was a big Tonelli fan in my leaner years. I even wanted a mustache just like his.

Word out of Uniondale is that Charles wang was so impressed by Rick DiPietro's performance the other night, that Wang added 3 more years to Dipietro's contract

0-3 now. Just great. Its only frustrating in that the Islanders played very strong games the last 2 go-arounds, it was penalties that did them in. They are getting sniped on the kill. I watched all or most of these games, and they are playing consistent hockey, out there on the left coast. Its a crippling way to start a season, regardless, 4 games out west. It will be interesting to see what happens when they head East and start playing some familiar foes. And for all the jokes and the record, DiPietro has been very solid since he was peppered in the first game.

They may go 0-72-10. Nah, I've only caught bits and pieces, but they definitely look better.

Well, I'm happy the Islanders were able to salvage at least one game on this sketchy road trip, with a shootout victory against those Ducks. I fell asleep between the second and third periods, by that time I was in bed with the game on the radio. Islanders now play something sick like 8 of 9 games at home, with the only "road" tangle being held out in Jersey. Essentially they dont hit the road again until November 9th.
Dunham looked sharp in net, as they peppered him with 50 shots. And Yashin is finally playing with a purpose.

It only took Yashin five seasons.

4-1-1-1 in their last 7 games. The team has looked sharp, and are back over .500. After a tilt with the Devils, 2 more at home, before venturing back onto the road for 5. But overall, I am happy with the start out here on the Island.

It's been a while since this team has been above .500.

Islander hockey! Setting the ice on fire!
Are the Devils the Islanders' bitch, or what? 15 shots last night for the New Jersey squad. The Islanders are as sharp as a skate blade right now. Now they return to the Coliseum for two more tilts, before hitting the road. Another 2 wins would be nice.

So, since the Islanders started the season 0-3, they have now run off a mark of 12-4-3 and in their last 19. Rick Dipietro, who has been scoffed at since his contract has been announced, has a save percentage approaching .940 and a GAA under 1.80 in the last couple of weeks. The penalty kill has been savage, I think its 21 of the last 22 penalties killed off. Just tonight they killed off 8 or 9, and in the last 2 days they have killed off a couple of long 5 on 3s.
This team is showing a lot.
FIRST PLACE!

Only downer coming off of tonight is Yashin is slated for an MRI after taking the old knee-on-knee late in the game. Right now he is diagnosed with a "bruised knee." Lets hope for the best. Its been a long time coming, sure, but Yashin is sticking it to a lot of people this year. In fact, the entire Islanders team is doing just that.

Yashin out 2-4. Wrong guy, wrong time. This said, I think the Islanders will be fine. They have been playing top notch hockey, in just about all facets.

Holy crap, do the Islanders own the Rangers.
Boston tonight. I will catch some of this tilt. I am happy that Bostons Phil Kessel has made it back to the ice so promptly.
The NY Islanders....setting the ice on fire!

Any truth to the rumor that they're renaming the Garden "Nassau Coliseum West?"

The Islanders power play has to be the most pathetic specialty unit in professional sports history.

Sillinger is playing like a rock star tonight. Finally some life in the power play, even if it IS against Philly.

Thats ugly stuff. I did not watch, but I flipped back and forth. Saw 3-0, was pleased as punch. Next commercial break during HOUSE, and its 3-2. That was like 5 minutes later. Cant be giving away points like this.

Tough, tough loss to the Rangers tonight, but one of the best games I've seen in years. DiPietro was an absolute animal. I thought the Rangers got the better of play by a significant margin, and he was the difference. Not just the number of saves, but a LOT of tough ones.
