US looked flat most of the game (yes I watched the whole thing being my sleeping pattern is beyond normal).....they will play in the bronze medal game Saturday morning at 6:30 against the loser of the Argentina/Spain matchup

Again this is a big wake up call for US basketball ...we are behind the 8-ball when it comes to international competition....He have the talent we just don't have the team or fundimentals....Michael Jordan was the best and worst thing to happen to basketball....Everyone wanted to be a superstar and forgot about defence and passing ...Jordan was an awsome al around player but those werent the highlights on tv...Thats why ppl like Lebron James are such a rare breed....Hopefully within the next few years we will be able to dominate again...I think the new Team USA structure is good and probably will work ..there just a young team right now...

I think it's pretty shocking the way the media always chalks up the recent U.S.A. Basketball losses to it not meaning as much to us. How many times do we need to get beat before the ole "We're still better, we just don't care as much" excuse no longer holds water.

How many times are they going to get beat cuz they brought 10 African American "swing men" over on their roster? How bout getting some fucking men that nut up & play some D & hit the boards?

The other morning on Colin Cowhered, he picked his 12 man All NBA team that he would have picked to represent the USA - he had like 9 guards a couple of forwards, and Shaq.
So yeah Mac...I agree.....dick.

Were these THE best possible American team would could get, or were top guys simply not playing again. It's not about the most talented players. It's about putting out the best team.

A LOT of top guys bailed, but this was still a pretty formidable team ... on paper, anyway.

It's about putting out the best team. thats actually what they tried doing this year ..they held tryouts and picked what they felt would be the best team, not just the best players....People like Iverson didn't make the team.....and they have to agree to sign up for like 3 years so it will actually be a team ..not just different players each year..
