It's the most wonderful time of the year. It's almost impossible to not enjoy the hockey playoff atmosphere, and to think it's the second one since the strike. And there is a bunch of good matchups in the first round. Lets get some predictions going, it starts tomorrow.
Sabres in 6 Devils in 7 Rangers in 6 Penguins in 5
Flames in 6 Ducks in 7 Canucks in 5 Sharks in 7

Sabers in 5 Devils in 5 Rangers in 7 Senators in 7
Red Wings in 7 Sharks in 6 Wild in 7 Canucks in 6
James, you're bugging thinking the Devils are going to go to 7. Brodour is going to clobber them. Other than that, even though I see some series going differently, I can't say your predictions are that far off.

I think the bolts will play the devils hard. I see that being one of the closest series of the 8 matchups. Maybe I shouldn't have said 7 and said 6 instead, but I tried to think of the one blackhorse series that would go further than other people would guess, and that's my pick. I think with St. Louis and Richards and others, I think they'll give the devils a little bit of trouble. Don't get me wrong, Brodeur will be Brodeur, but if Holmqvist plays good i see it being a close series, low scoring games, and whoever makes the last mistake on defense will lose.

Don Cherry will be appearing on NBCs playoff coverage, starting this weekend. First shot here in the states. Should be interesting, especially as he and Hull will probably be playing off of one another.

Last year I went to the garden for the first home playoff game, down 2-0 the crowd was still hot. Within two minutes of the first period, it was dead, as were the playoff hopes against the red hot devils. And we voiced our displeasure at the end with boos, especially everytime Ozolinsh touched the puck. This year, sadly i will be watching it at home, and can only imagine the crowd this time. I can however predict, if the rangers lose, the garden fans willl NOT throw shit on the ice, because we are not animlas. Fucking babies.

Hey the Isles got a tough brek, I'm ot going to lie, but the fans are assholes for that display of clasless immaturity. Get the fuck over yourselves, every team gets bad calls, it hurts more in the playoffs sure, but it's 2-1 with another game, possibly two in the coliseum, why do something stupid and just litter the ice and possibly injure a player? And what pisses me off the most, EVER SINGLE OFFSIDE CALL WAS BOOED! Fucking pathetic, I kno the refs fuck that up pnce in a while but the fans are such sore losers they gotta boo a meaningless offside call. Isle fans=Red Sox/Met/Eagle fans of hockey, lat night was a horribly display by the fans. the franchise should be disbanded and the coliseum demolished because of it.

Hey Grover, was I far off the Devils and Bolts would be a tight series? It's been good, close hockey being played.

Let an entire game worth of calls go against the Rangers one of the next two nights, and we'll see which franchise should be disbanded and which building should be torn down.
I'm not justifying their behavior -- nothiing should ever be thrown on the ice.
But stop making Rangers fans out to be angels. That's a crock of shit.

Congrats on what? Still one more game this series. It was a good game last night but it means shit if they don't win the fourth game.

james, how old are you? I ask not to rip you but honestly maybe you are to young to remember what the animals of MSG (before they were priced out of the Garden) have done:
A. "Drive a Porche hextall" B. Shaking an ambulance with a concussion victim (lafontaine) inside. C. Tossing chicken bones at black player (and Ranger!) Tony McKegnie (sp)
Isles fans were out of line, but please, rangers fans are among the worst in sports.

Guess I gave the Thrashers more credit then they deserve. I hope the break doesn't make them cold.

Yeah the only gay thing about the rangers is they have tohose stupid white towels they hand out, just like in the coliseum. The flames are cool, they don't hand shit out, people just go to games wearing all red, they don't need to hand out hankies.

Most other arenas hand them out, and it's nothing new for the Garden, I have playoff towels at my parents house dating back to '91 Jw

Yeah I know, I have a blue one from last year. But it seems so forced, Flames fans just show up all in red, by their own choice. That to me is cooler. Then again, the garden fans have been really cool the past two games and I'm loking foward to getting to go to a game next round. Cause when the ranger fans thought the ref made a bad call, he got called an asshole by a pack house. The ref didn't get bombarded with beer, andthey didn't cause a stoppage to the game. AND, the classiest thing of all, they sang to the thrashers on their way out, and song is always nice.

Grover I am not even a ranger fan but I admit some of the old MSG stuff was priceless.
"Last place we suck" during one of the bad Espoito GM years "1940"..taunting their own team in 1993 after they collapsed down the stretch "We want Carol" when Alt was at games 'We want hextall" during the 94 caps series after they had swept the Isles

So if I'm not mistaken the Rangers will play the Sens since they beat Pittsburgh right? Sabres/Isles all but over, and Devils/bolts tied up but really has no bearing on who the Rangers play right? If that's the case, the Penguins gave the Rangers a tough time this year. not to say the Sens won't, but call me crazy I like playing the Sens next instead of the penguins.

Actually, the Devils series does have a bearing on who the next round opponent is. If the Devils win the Rangers play Buffalo. If the Lightning win the Rangers play Ottawa.
And you do remember that Ottawa went 3-1 against NYR this year, right? Jw

I know, I remember. But Overall, for some reason, the rangers played better against the sens than the penguins, no matter what the overall record says. I say that cause regular season records men jack shit now. All that matters is how they played against the teams and how both teams are playing at the time. In no way am I saying it's a given the Rangers will win, but I think it'd be better they play Ottawa in this round instead of Buffalo, although the way the Sabres are playing they'd have a great series.
