Sometimes Stupid Headlines really get my goat, and I am driven to rant about them. I hope the MODs allow me start this new thread on some of the stupid-er headlines I've seen lately. Today's Installment; Adventurer died 'doing what he loved'us.cnn.com/2006/US/12/18/climbers.profile.ap/index.htmlYEAH, LIKE BEING TRAPPED IN A ICE CAVE, FREEZING HIS ASS OFF IS 'doing what he loved.' LOL
The Giants used to have a guy named Hand. I think it was Norman Hand. Anyway, one game he got hurt, and the online headline read....
HAND PULLS GROIN

Hehehehe - as is the case with ANYONE dying, what they are doing at the moment is DYING. Having said that, I doubt ANYONE, EVER dies doing what they love!
In a somewhat related topic, I recieved a company-wide email from the CEO today.....the first sentence read:
"All:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Don last-name-witheld will retire this coming Friday, December 22."
I'm not sure if, but I think maybe Don should be offended by this?!?!?!?!

This isn't a headline, but ch0's memo reminded me of it. A few years ago, during one of my company's many rounds of layoffs, an e-mail was sent out with a fictious question-and-answer session with the CEO. Things like this are why people need editors. Q: Should we be worried about our jobs? A: No more than usual. Thanks for the vote of confidence, DICK!

When the Yankees got Pettitte back, the Daily News had a an article about it along with useless facts about him. It said his favorite food was mac & cheese. I turned the page and there was an article about a guy who wound up ordering a 55$ plate of mac and cheese.

OK...we may keep this thread open for 5 years and we may not top this one. This is just absurd.
Its a story about the new Charlotte's Web movie. Includes a lot of live-action stuff, and apparently Templeton the Rat is really true to life. So much so that he inspires this jawdropper of a headline...
'CHARLOTTE'S WEB' GIVES A RAT SASS WITH A 'SO REAL' PRESENCE
Yeah, thats right. A nice play on saying Rats Ass. Ugh.

I don't know if this is a stupid headline, or what. But I did a classic doubletake reading this; Jesus Christ to Be Honorary King of Poland WARSAW, Poland — Lawmakers have drawn up a resolution naming Jesus Christ as the honorary king of Poland, but have failed to win support from the country's powerful Roman Catholic church........... www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,237824,00.html M

I envy people who can read periodicals without referencing them in APA style or presenting their content in class.

This headline is not so much stupid as cutesy.
Its a story about how the airport, for a variety of reasons, is a good pick-up spot for young lovers.
Its in todays Post, on page 5, and entitled, "GETTING DE-LAYED"

Ah, got to love this gem from todays POST, talking about the spate of murders that rung in the new year. The 3 people shot and the 1 stabbed to death spurred on this headline...
SLAY BELLS RING IN THE NEW YEAR
