All rosters will be 25 players.
As stated in another thread, there will be a hitting lineup of a 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, RF, CF, C, and UH. UH means a utility hitter. This can be a wildcard.
You will be allowed 5 starting pitchers, and 2 Relief Pitchers to play.
The rest is your bench, and how you fill that bench is entirely up to you.
TRANSACTION--
With 12 teams, only 300 players are used. That leaves about 500 players available at all times.
A transaction is defined as waiving one player on your team, and picking up a player from the waiver wire.
Though Yahoo will allow you to make unlimited transactions, in this league, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED ONE TRANSACTION PER WEEK.
The transaction week begins on Saturday at midnight, and ends Friday at 11:59pm. You can make a transaction on Friday and on Saturday, but only if you made no other transaction before Friday. After you make the transaction on Saturday, you will not be allowed to make another transaction until another Saturday.
If you make no transaction at all, that week is gone. You cannot accumulate transactions from week to week.
There are TWO exceptions to this rule.
1. DISABLED LIST. If you have a player on the DL, you can add a player without it counting toward your weekly transaction. The player MUST be on the actual DL, according to Yahoo, and once your player gets off the DL, you MUST waive someone within 24 hours.
2. UNBALANCED TRADES. If for example, you trade 2 players for 1, you may pick up one extra player without it counting toward your weekly transaction. I can't remember any trades like this in the history of the league, so don't expect much out of it.
Line-up Changes--UPDATE!!!!
As has been the case in previous years, you will be allowed to alter your lineup, ONCE A WEEK. NOT DAILY as previously reported.
If you remember, the intent was always to have you make your lineup changes affecting Sunday's games. Last year I goofed and made it Saturday's games. This year, I corrected that error (I hope).
So that means that you have to have your weekly roster in by Saturday at midnight. This gives you ample time to pick up a new player on Saturday, and insert him in the lineup for the following week.
So for purposes of TRANSACTIONS, the week is Saturday to Friday. For purposes of ROSTER changes, the week is Sunday to Saturday.
The logic of staggering the roster and transaction days is as follows:
If you start the week, and add a pitcher to your team on Saturday, you may insert him to your Sunday roster and use him for the week. If the days were the same, you may find yourself waiting a week to use your new pickup.
INJURIES ARE AN EXCEPTION to the one transaction rule. There are actually 2 exceptions. Injuries (where one person is ON THE DL) and filling your roster if you give up a different number of players for a trade.
So if you trade 2 players and get back 1, you can grab someone off the wire to fill your team.
But the guy who got the 2 players is forced to waive someone.
That kind of transaction has been VERY rare in the 3 years though. I don't have a record of it, but trades have almost always involved equal numbers.
