This thread is for questions about drafting and positions.
Everyone has an active roster. We will be going by the rules of Yahoo, except what is discussed on this board.
You will have to draft a C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, RF, CF, Utility Hitter and pitchers.
VERY IMPORTANT: Notice how it says LF, RF, CF. Take that into account when making your draft. That's one of the things that makes this league an little harder than others. Many leagues just group everything into OF. Many rankings in fantasy cheats do not separate people by position. So know what you are doing.
MULTI-POSITIONS:
HITTERS--Some players play more than one position during the year. Some players switch positions between years. When it comes to HITTERS, we will go by what Yahoo says. I believe Yahoo says that once a player plays 15 games at another position, he is eligible at that position. OR, if the player played that position the prior year, he is eligible at that position. So some players are eligible at more than one position, which can be useful to you.
In 2002, Chipper Jones was eligible at 3B AND OF. Even though he didn't play a game at 3B all year, he was eligible all year. That's because he was a 3B in 2001. Of course, in 2003, that 3B eligibility will be gone. The point is though that Yahoo assigns this. So someone could be eligible at LF and RF. Someone could be eligible at RF and SS if that's the way it's assigned.
PITCHERS: Unlike with the hitters, Yahoo is not as good here. Most pitchers do not both start and relieve. Some pitchers do change from year to year, so that's why you find some pitchers eligible at both. Derek Lowe of 2002 is a good example. While you may use a Chipper Jones at 3B even though he doesn't play there, you may NOT use a Derek Lowe as a reliever.
In this league, we are separating starters and relievers in eligibility. You are allowed 7 pitchers total, but ONLY FIVE can be starters. The other two will be relievers. This is likely the number one way to cheat in this league, and this will be the most policed.
You cannot take a starter and put it in the reliever position. More on this will be discussed in the cheating thread.
How do you tell the difference? A starter starts the game. A reliever does not. It's that simple.
