Capone loves this stuff, but in order to not have Howard Finkel hour long intros, I'm only going to limit the facts tomorrow to number of years in the league, where you finished, and how much money you either won or lost.
I just ran the numbers, and of the 10 returning people, 5 are in positive land, 5 are in negative land. Further specifics will be there tomorrow.
But from the thread on the other board, here are some numbers, updated with 2006 info:
I don't have any 2002 info, but since 2003 (the first year we had 12 people), here are some historical draft facts:
--ARod has been the first overall pick in each of the last 3 years. The only person since 2003 with the number 1 pick to pass on him was Tom, who picked Randy Johnson. Johnson spent most of the year on the DL, while ARod led Jose's team to 4th place.
--Capone has managed to be an end pick in 3 out of his 4 years in the league. He was 12th out of 12 overall in 2003 and 2004, and 1st in 2006.
--Here are the first three finishers in each of the last 4 years and where they went in the draft:
1st place:
2006--Jose (8th overall pick)
2005--Larry (2nd overall pick)
2004--Justin (3rd overall pick)
2003--Knoblauch (10th overall pick)
2nd place:
2006--Pops (2nd overall pick)
2005--Tom (9th overall pick)
2004--Capone (12th overall pick)
2003--Scott (11th overall pick)
3rd place:
2006--Evan (12th overall pick)
2005--Frost (1st overall pick)
2004--Evan (2nd overall pick)
2003--Evan (9th overall pick)
And in case you're interested:
Last place:
2006--Grover (6th pick)
2005--John (11th pick)
2004--Steve (10th pick)
2003--Kwik (8th pick)
The worst finish with the number 1 pick overall was Capone in 2006--11th place.
The Asshole Pot had $19 in 2005, and $20 in 2006.
For the second year in a row, I looked all over the place for info on the 2002 draft, failing to remember that I didn't make up these forms until 2003.
The current scoring system has been unaltered since 2004, when we dropped saves to 6 points.
Since 2004, the record for most points in a season was by Larry with 7695.67 points.
Justin had 7292.33 in his 2004 effort.
Jose had the weakest effort of winning teams, with 7164.67 points.
Jose would have finished in 3rd in 2004, and in 2005 with those points.
Tom's 7255.33 points in 2005 was the best finish by someone who didn't win.
Tom is the only person who has been in the league every year since 2002 that has not won the whole thing. He has finished in the bottom half of the league 3 times. In one of the two years he finished in the top half, he finished 6th out of 12 people. He also finished 6 out of 9 in 2002.
For the original members of the league, here's how they break down head to head:
Tom finished ahead of Jose 3 times in 5 years.
Justin has finished ahead of Tom 3 times in 5 years, but Tom has beaten Justin head to head each of the past 2 years.
Justin has beaten Jose 3 out of 5 times.
Jose is the only person in the history of the league to have a last place and a first place finish on his resume.
Three people--Justin, Knoblauch, and Larry have won the league in their first year.
Evan holds the league record for most finishes in the money. 3 times in 4 years.
All three times were 3rd place. Call him Mr. Bronze.
No person who has won the league has ever finished in the money the following season.
No one who has ever finished in the money improved the following season.
Larry holds the record for biggest drop in the standings from one season to the next, dropping from 1st place to 10th place between 2005-06.
Knoblauch holds the record for most places jumped ahead, moving from 11th in 2005 to 4th in 2006.
Milton and Laura are the only 2 active people in the league never to finish above 5th place. Laura finished in 5th place in both of her seasons in the league.
Milton has been in the league twice as long as Laura. He finished in 5th place once.
Through 2006, Laura is the only female ever to be in this league.
No girl has ever finished above 5th place.
Milton and Capone are the only two people never to beat Laura at least once.
Once again, Laura is a girl.
Capone is also the only person in the history of the league to finish 10th or below twice (2005-06).
As well all know, Justin is the only person to win twice. He is the highest money winner active or retired.
Though 5 people are currently winners, once they make their first pick tomorrow, two of them will be back in the red as the 2007 numbers enter play.
