So we're off the the races again with Session 6. Hard to believe it, but we are very close to the halfway point of the season.
Let's start off this session by saying Suzy is not solely in the lead! She's only TIED for the lead (with Larry). Lost in all the Suzy hoopla right now is the fact that Evan's team is in full collapse mode.
Neil's team has started to finally come up stronger. Amazing what happens when you dump Igawa.
Suzy--58 Larry--58 Neil--50 Pops--44 Knoblauch--39.33 Justin--39 Laura--38.33 Jose--38 Tom--37 Milton--14 Evan--14 Capone--13

Quiet day in baseball leads to a quiet day in the Section 39 Fantasy Baseball League. It also leads to Neil having a negative night, courtesy of El Duque.
The only real note today is that for once, we have a session where Suzy is not in the lead. But again, there were few games yesterday. The current leader is Tom, who finished in second place in 2005.
Tom--76 Laura--70.33 Suzy--70 Knoblauch--68.33 Larry--68 Pops--54 Neil--46.33 Justin--46 Jose--43 Capone--42 Milton--30 Evan--20

It's nice to finally look at the session standings and see a close one. Verlander's no hitter last night was a boon for Milton--giving him 53 points for one guy. Too bad Jose Contreras kicked Milton in the balls with a -13. But still, 93 points on the night was by far the best in the league.
Tom's team is living up to a preseason prediction of being very strong on hitting, and very weak on pitching. He is one of the few teams with an under .500 W/L record (25-29) Yet Tom, who finished in second in 2005, is in 4th place, very much in the hunt for second.
His team may not be balanced, but it's effective.
Knoblauch's team is equally unbalanced, but the exact opposite. His team's record is 36-21. That equals Suzy's win total, and ties him with Suzy for second place in wins.
He remains 50 points behind Tom.
Anyway, we currently have 4 teams separated by less than 20 points. Hopefully we'll have a close session. Milton--122.67 Suzy--115.33 Tom--112 Laura--110.33 Pops--107 Knoblauch--95.67 Capone--87 Neil--81.33 Larry--80 Justin--70 Evan--57 Jose--53.33

Evan's team is completely collapsing. He was in 3rd place for a good chunk of the season so far, but over the last 3 weeks, he's been in disarray. He's actually just 1/3 of a point out of 11th now. His team is doing what Laura's has been for quite some time.
Meanwhile, Tom, who finished in second place in 2005, is looking to repeat his previous glory. Thanks to a nice 0 point night by Pops, Tom suddenly finds himself in second place.
Speaking of Pops, it should be noted that while Schilling's 48 point near no hitter happened on Pops' bench, his -5 point followup was in Pops' lineup.
Even better, this session is actually a fight right now. 3 teams are within 6 points of each other.
Here are the standings:
Milton--178.67 Tom--176 Suzy--173.33 Laura--155.33 Neil--147.33 Larry--132 Justin--124.33 Knoblauch--119 Capone--111 Pops--107 Evan--76 Jose--75.67

And no I can't give you some of the shit I smoked, is all gone....

Nearing the halfway point of season 6, we have a very good session going on. Laura in the overalls has a point total of 2468, but she probably doesn't appreciate that she's still in last.
So last night, Suzy got the booby prize. Not only that, she got the lowest point total. Tom, who finished in second in 2005, is on top of the session, but holding on by just 1/3 of a point. Best night goes to Jose. I would also like to welcome Pops bak tooo secund playse.
Tom--197 Milton--196.67 Neil--191.67 Suzy--185.33 Laura--178 Larry--174.67 Knoblauch--160.67 Justin--147.33 Capone--143 Pops--137 Jose--128.67 Evan--123.67

Evan's team is in total collapse mode. A short time ago, he was at the top, in 3rd place, at a time when 50 points didn't separate like 6 teams.
Now he's in 11th, and thanking the man upstairs that Laura is in the league.
Pops' team has also fallen on tough times, as his team has fallen out of second and he is having a horrid session.
Meanwhile, Neil, the only person in this league never to win a session, is actually leading. That's the good news. The bad news is that Larry, the preseason favorite, and Tom, who came in second place in 2002, are right on Neil's heels. Milton is not far behind either.
And of course, Suzy remains in the hunt.
It's a good session finally.
Neil--357.33 Larry--342.33 Tom--340.67 Suzy--327 Milton--323.67 Laura--295.33 Justin--271 Knoblauch--270.33 Jose--265.33 Evan--243 Pops--242 Capone--222

Once again, the night ends with Neil maintaining his lead in the session. That's the good news for Neil. The bad news is that the session is still very close, and there's plenty of time left. Neil has never won a session before. This would be a first for the man who not only drafted Igawa, but did so with Wang still available.
Neil--390.67 Milton--371.67 Larry--364.67 Tom--359 Suzy--352 Laura--327.33 Jose--303.33 Justin--292 Knoblauch--282.33 Evan--272.67 Pops--250 Capone--241

It's not passing on Wang (although by then, 5/6 of Wang was better than the pack). It's the taking of Igawa when Wang was still available.
For that, he deserves a group of kids laughing at him and pointing.

Suzy had a nice night last night, outpacing the league yet again and scoring 74 points. Surprisingly, Neil, who drafted Igawa ahead of Wang, had a solid night of his own, and was able to maintain his lead over Suzy--at least for one more day.
Milton is right on Suzy's ass, as he is just 1/3 of a point behind her.
Neil--448.67 Suzy--426 Milton--425.67 Larry--393.67 Tom--384 Jose--367.33 Laura--350.33 Justin--310.67 Knoblauch--309 Evan--301.67 Pops--281 Capone--281

Neil is still holding on in a very tight session. He has moved from 11th to 4th in such a short time period. Not bad for a guy who drafted Igawa ahead of Wang. Igawa--a guy who had never thrown an MLB pitch ahead of Wang, who was the Cy Young runner up and established.
But anyway, I still believe this is shaping up to be a heartbreaker for Neil. He'll blow it on the last night and finish in 3rd.
Neil--497.67 Suzy--470 Milton--468 Larry--426 Tom--424 Jose--424 Laura--399.33 Knoblauch--392 Justin--368.67 Evan--322.67 Capone--311 Pops--301.33

WTF Balls... why are you destined to see me fail. My team has rallied from the bowels of the league to an honorable spot. Its not over yet......
Igawa is a mistake that you will single handedly never let me forget, however there are 24 other guys on my team giving me a run for the money.

I've seen it happen too many times. It's a close session. Sure, you've been up for most of it, but the lead is small enough to allow for someone to have a big night on Saturday and steal it. It's happened before.
Remember that time you drafted Igawa?

I hope my team stays strong and wraps up the session. It would be nice... Just like when I drafted Igawa...
However, should i fall short and loose the session, im cool with it. S**t happens.

Neil, who drafted Igawa over Wang, is still in the lead for the session, but last night, he only scored a single point. Due to the usual Thursday offdays, most of the teams had lousy nights. Only Larry, the preseason favorite, did anything that would be considered decent, scoring 47 points and placing a stronghold on second place. Despite a lousy session overall, Justin has managed to get back into third place. Shows how even things have been.
Evan's team is in total collapse. This is his second dismal session in a row. That's a full month. 1/6 of the season. Laura may not be winning this session, but she is slowly gaining ground on Evan, and unless Evan's team turns it around, Mr. Bronze may be in contention to be Walkman Johned.
We have 4 teams within 30 points of each other in the session. Should be an interesting finish. Neil is going to need good results from the three starters he has going in the next 2 days. If so then he will no longer be the only person in the league to not win a session.
Neil--498.67 Suzy--486 Larry-473 Milton--471 Jose--442.67 Tom--424 Laura--416.33 Knoblauch--412 Justin--389.67 Evan--333.67 Pops--332.33 Capone--312

As I predicted since the beginning, Neil has won the session. Milton almost stole it from him on the last day, but Neil hung on to win for the first time and break Suzy's record setting 3 straight session streak.
What's even more amazing right now is the total collapse of Evan's team. Laura is now within 100 points of Evan. The last place situation is NOT settled, especially now that Laura's team has been producing for 3 straight sessions. She's not winning anything right now, but she's not the worst team either. Plenty of time to climb out of that ditch.
Here are the final Session 6 standings.
