I made myself ravioli tonight for dinner but for some reason it didn't taste right. I threw it out and decided to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I forgot how much I loved peanut butter and jelly!!

I had my first peanut butter and jelly sandwich, literally in years, a few weeks ago. Since then I have had about 5 more. Its a decent change of pace for a quick lunch to bring. But I dont like big gobs of jelly, keep it silky smooth on the bread.

I agree. Also, it has to be grape jelly. I don't like strawberry or raspberry or blueberry. Grape jelly. And not jam either.

I've been thinking about this since 9 when I read this thread and finally had to go downstairs.
...The mexican at the deli on 48th looked at me like I was from space when I ordered a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich just now. He had to open a jar of Jelly off of the shelf....they didn't have grape though. Still it was great. Now I feel like going out to the supermarket and buying a jar of Concord Grape Jelly to have on hand.

Kudos to you. I would have liked to have seen his face. You should have done it with a lot of people in line behind you, to get them talkin.
"Jam" sucks. Thats like Grandma's cupboard sort of fare. Give me jelly, and yes, make it grape only!
Today i went quite simple...a Cup O' Noodles soup (beef flavor) and 2 pretzel rods and a Strawberry blended yogurt for dessert. And an 8 ounce can of Coke to wash it down.

Turkey and Ham plain on wheat bread, with a bottle of water and a small cup of coffee from McDonald's.
While this may fall into a useless opinion, I read that survey that came out last month about the best coffee, and was surprised to see golden arches at #1. So I had to try it out to see if it lived up to the hype. And after a few cups, it is indeed a fine brew worthy of the $1.40 cost. Jw

Is it really? I have hated McDonald's coffee my whole life. Even when they said they had Maxwell House. I'll have to try this new "Premium Blend" tomorrow morning.

I have not had it myself...I am not much the coffee drinker, although I have taken to bringing along a travel mug of the java brew with me as I head off to work daily, but I can say the office staff her is quite satiated with McDonalds coffee. They all give it high marks.

All this PB and J talk, I had to have strawberry jelly (from my boss' orchard) on a bagel. It was good, but I should have added the peanut butter - Skippy Super Chunk. I think that's what I'll make BiGal for dinner tonight.

Jelly is on the list of things I think are completely nasty. Yes, I am unAmerican. I hate jelly, syrup and pretty much all foods that are sticky and sugary.
I just had an awesome salad for lunch from the hospital cafeteria: grilled chicken, pecans & crumbled gorgonzola with a spicy vinegarette over cucumbers, tomatoes & romaine lettuce.

I love jelly, but it does have to be grape and spread thin. I can have strawberry on toast but not with peanut butter. My all time favorite is actually peanut butter and fluff. I was going to make that instead but since I haven't opened it in who knows how long..i couldn't Had to throw it away too. I guess I haven't really had peanut butter because most schools are now peanut free. Which many parents aren't happy about because it's the easiest lunch to make.

McDonalds coffee is good, but their french vanilla coffee is much better.(in my opinion) Hot in the winter and iced in the summer!!
I've been going through the Dairy barn lately on my way to work for coffee. The guy makes it perfect everytime. Today I didn't have a good experience because I sat waiting between cars for 8 minutes. Yes I watched the clock. That might not sound that long, but I was totally trapped between cars (cause there's only one way out) and I only had about 11 minutes before the kids had to be let into the classroom. I didn't think I would make it, but after the second car finished their GROCERY shopping the rest went pretty fast. There isn't really anything worse than feeling like there isn't anything you can do about a frustrating situation. Especially since my job isn't really one you can ever be late to without hours notice.

McDonalds coffee really isn't bad & their iced coffee get's a serious thumbs up, but I prefer Dunkin Donuts. Usually I make coffee at home & take it in the travel mugs (yes, that is plural, as in 2) because I don't pass anything on the way to work/school right now... this may change when my commute changes in 2 weeks.
Peanut free schools? You are saying the kids can't bring peanut butter sandwiches from home or those little packages of neon orange cheddar crackers with peanut butter? That's horrible.

Let me guess, one of the mugs has a Yankee logo on it, and the other has a NJ Devils logo..
"Peanut free schools? You are saying the kids can't bring peanut butter sandwiches from home or those little packages of neon orange cheddar crackers with peanut butter? That's horrible."
If I had to guess that would be that you can bring it yourself but the school won't provide it anymore because of potential food allergy issues with the kids or it's considered junk food or something. Jw

Peanut allergies are a big deal. I believe schools have been sued in the past. Never really heard of peanut allergies until maybe the last 10 years or so, but apparently it's huge.
And Dairy Barn makes the BEST coffee.

Nah, John, kids cant bring them in, period. Other kids could come in contact with it. You can go to school, but you must leave your peanut butter and jelly sandwich at home.

If you book a flight on some domestic airlines and tell them you have a peanut allergy, they won't serve them on that flight. And I think that most carriers have stopped serving peanuts entirely and have gone with other snacks instead.

I blame the baby formula industry. If moms fed babies they way they are supposed to, instead of running back to work and dumping the kid with a bottle, the kids would be MUCH healthier & there would be a significantly lower incidence of allergies and childhood obesity. www.fda.gov/fdac/features/895_brstfeed.html(The obesity issue could also be addressed by having the lazy little couch potatoes actually walk to the bus stop, like we had to do, rather than having the school bus stop at each and every house.)

Peanut allergies are so common and so scary. Children are not supposed to eat peanuts/peanut butter until I think they are at least three. I think it has something to do with the way the body digests it or reacts to it. Something like after they are 3 they are less likely to form an allergy or the allergy won't be so severe.
Actually I believe it's against the law for the schools to be 100% peanut free. They call themselves peanut free, and encourage it but you'll always have that parent that complains and sends their child in with peanut butter anyway, or products that contain peanuts. They always say "that's all my child eats." Which I can't stand hearing, but whatever. When they say peanut free, they really mean they don't serve it and the classrooms must be peanut free.
Even though we call ourselves peanut free, and we try to keep it 100%, the children with peanut allergies sit at one specific table in the cafeteria that is washed with a seperate cloth because they can have reactions by eating, smelling or even touching it. Talk about making them feel different. Believe it or not, most schools are now banning homemade goodies for parties and dunkin donuts. Everything that is brought in must be packaged with the ingredients on them. This mostly comes about in a school like mine where there is one child who is so totally severe. We have a kindergarten student like that, she has to take an epi-pen everywhere she goes.

I can't even tell you how many times I've experienced that Tom - I'd go through years without even giving thought to a PB&J, but once I get my hands on one, them I'm eating them daily for the next week.

Well, I'd guess it is the same sort of process as forgetting your walkman... You leave the house, arrive at your destination & realize that you are missing something that you should have with you... I can confirm that, yes, indeed, that is the way you forget a wallet, as that is exactly the way it happened for me this morning. Luckily, we get free lunch. Today: crabcakes and salad

You see, and I keep hearing there is no free lunch in this world...
I hate it when I have good leftovers at home, but have to buy food at work or school. I've got some really good hunan beef in my fridge at home, but I won't be there until 5 or 6 and I am hungry NOW.
