Oooofff that sounds vile. But, I'm sure somehow it tastes good.
I had some roasted chicken breast with grilled asparagus and some baked sweet potatoes.

The last few nights I have gotten into a nasty habit, and have been whipping up the infamous "late-night snack" - which is usually being eaten sometime between 2 and 3AM, in the middle of my evening respite.
Started a few nights ago when I woke up hungry, and stumbled into the kitchen. I had a jar of olives in there, so I scooped out, like 10. Green olives. I pulled out a couple of slices of Finlandia Swiss cheese, and then a couple of slices of rye. Did not make a sandwich....just popped in some olives, finished up, sipped some milk, rolled up the cheese and ate it, and finished up with the bread. Then I went back to bed, and 5 minutes later I was sleeping again.
I've done this 3 nights in a row now. I had not been a late-night snacker in years. Maybe its the physical therapy that is making me so hungry.
Cant do it tonight though....finished the cheese.

Getting up in the middle of the night with a craving for green olives is usually associated with some serious hormone changes...

Lets not read too much into this. I have always been a fan of green olives. They used to be a staple of my bachelor pad in Long Island City, along with beer and roaches. Last week at the market I noticed olives were on sale (2 jars for $5) and grabbed them. When i would normally have cheese and bread for my latenight snack, I simply added olives cause they were there, cause they were on sale.

I prefer the black olives or the kalamata olives, but all olives are good. The green ones are best when they are soaking in a funny-shaped glass of gin that has the barest hint of the aroma of vermouth...

I can vouch for that... once time I drove Tom home from a game & by the time we arrived in LIC, I needed to pee. I entered the bathroom and a roached crawled across the toilet seat, which inspired me to hold it, and never again consider using that room.

Yeah, whenever I would take a dump in his bathroom, I would try and hurry before a roach climbed up my leg or something.
A dump is not something to be rushed, so you can imagine my discomfort.

Not eating yet, but I have SOOOO been craving White Castle for 3 or 4 days... I am going to have to send Dave to pick up a case of cheeseburgers for us to munch on during the game... the best part about that is having the leftovers sitting in the freezer. They're actually better out of the microwave than when you first bring them home...lol.

You know how the stereotypical native New Yorker living in California is always bragging about this and that being better in New York? The food is better, the sports are better, the mass transportation is better, yada yada yada. While my own behavior definitely enforces that stereotype, I will say that White Castle is one thing I DEFINITELY don't brag about. BLECCHHHHHHH!!!
My acid reflux pains me just thinking about it.

White Castle isn't a New York thing, ch0, other than the fact that there are branches located here.

Yes, I am completely aware that White Castle isn't an indigenous New York food chain. But growing up in New York, that's where I've eaten White Castle.
And Sancho...puh-leeze. Give 10 New Yorkers an In-N-Out burger and a White Castle burger, and 10 of 10 will choose I-N-O.
New York puts California's cuisine offerings to shame almost across the board...almost...but you can't win em all...White Castle and Mexican Food are about the only two areas I can think of where New York ought to hang em up. Other than that, California is a mall food court and New York is a 4 star restaurant.

White Castle, KFC, Taco Bell... this is not *cuisine,* it is cheap-ass ghetto food that is full of fat, sodium and low-quality, over-processed ingredients... you start eating it because you are a broke teenager, and as an adult it fills some sort of void caused by PMS or excessive alcohol intake...

Very true Elliejay - but on occasion fast food can be considered "cuisine", a special outing. Out here in SoCal, I'd put Tommy's, In-N-Out, and King Taco in that category.

True... we have the Yuppie/city fast food spots like Panera, Qdoba, Pret a Manger, Go Sushi... trendy, tasty and not totally unhealthy!

Panera is pretty good with me. We have Panera and a chain here called Corner Bakery which is almost a Panera clone.
