OK, let's look at it this way.
Bill Gates and Microsoft have BILLIONS of dollars. If Apple, and people who make other computer operating systems suddenly started innovating all these hot new bells and whistles in their operating system that Windows didn't have, what would you do if you are Microsoft? You're still the top dog...people are still buying Windows hand over fist out of tradition, familiarity, etc. But if you decide to invest the millions of dollars upfront to completely revamp Windows for the purpose of keeping up and even surpassing technology implemented by your competitors, you stand to increase your already fat profits EXPONENTIALLY. You might piss some of your regular customers off in the interim by introducing an unfamiliar product, but the long term gains will be astronomical....so whattya do? Do you say, "ahhhh, are profits are already very good, we don't NEED to do this." Of course you don't say that....come on. In the long run it's going to be a greatly enhanced product, despite the fact that you upset some traditionalists along the way.
And again, I get the tradition aspect. I truly. But we can stop acting as if the Yankees are abandoning any roots to their past altogether.....they are going to do what they can to honor that past.
The Celtics did it. The White Sox did it.

I sure hope we do a better job than those teams. Everything I read about Fleet Center, or whatever the Celtics' new arena is called these days, says it has no personality whatsoever. And having been to U.S. Cellular, or whatever the new White Sox park is called these days, it royally sucks ass and is one of the worst ballparks I've ever been to.

9, just read the blueprints, maps, and descriptions of the amenities surrounding this new Stadium. I think its safe to say the Yankees have, and will, do a better job.

I think so, too. I was just pointing out that new isn't always better.

Welcome aboard gents.
My dad grew up in the Bronx not far from the stadium. He has a pair of seats from the "old" ballpark.

Folks, you may see a couple of new names popping up here and there. For now I was able to wrangle a couple of quality folks I have stumbled across in other venues to join us here. Its up to them to see how often/active/engaging they wish to be here. I personally wish to welcome rlm6370 and bronxmikey. I think they are welcome additions and hope they become mainstays. Guys, you have the run of the place, just remember the "work-friendly" edict. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay, I think we have a solid roster here for you to meet, and some very quality people already here. Thank you, Tom: Some info on me I'm also first generation American of Cuban and Italian parents. I was born in New Jersey and was taken to my first Yankee game by the best grandfather in the world in 1978 and I've been hooked on the team since then. I now live in Miami, but miss NJ and NYC very much. I also know bronxmikey from another forum and he's a quality guy. Take care everybody

Welcome. My wife is Cuban. We had a discussion here a while back about good Cuban food places to eat.
I'm in California, so my recommendations probably don't mean much! ;D

These two new guys are solid citizens. I have done very little recruiting for this board - in fact, I have not approached a non-Creature in over a year, but I asked these guys to come over in the last week. I know for fact they are valuable players in the message board format. A funny addendum, I remember scuffling with Mikey once over baseball elsewhere, it was our first interaction, but he gained my respect from then on and I am happy to have him here. RM is just a good guy.
Once again, welcome aboard. Enjoy your stay.

Yeah, I dont remember the particulars but I am sure it amused a bunch of the Yankee haters on there, cause we were arguing something Yankees, from the perspectives of fans of the team. I am guessing it was either over the Torre/Mattingly/Girardi stuff, or the Santana trade rumors. Actually, pretty sure it was Santana stuff.
I am sure we will cross paths again in the Yankee section. But all in good time, and good fun!

New to the site, was told from about it from somebody on another site. A little about myself, born and raised for the majority of my life in Co - Op city the Bronx. Spent some time in Yonkers and now transplanted here in Southern California.
Life long and die hard Yankee fan. Vivid memories of going to the stadium as a kid seeing Willie Randolph, Mike Pags, Jack Clark and Donnie Baseball.
I've got a terrible taste in my mouth as the season is coming to a miserable hault, but look forward to venting/chatting with some real fans.
Thanks, J

Its our pleasure to have you. I had been meaning to bring this back up cause a new round of recruiting has kicked off.
Make yourself comfortable. This board is what it is. It can get acrimonious at times, even in the Yankee thread, but baseball is life!
Cheers.

Pags was one of the few fun players on those miserable Yankee teams back then.

Welcome Pags! Pags is another exile from Kiki's "Evil Empire West" meetup group - aka The Official Yankee Propaganda Rubber Stamp Committee.
This guy was often the only other person on the email list with a real opinion with more substance than MELKY RULES and A-ROD IS THE MAN!
Welcome Pags! YOU the man!
