From the NY Daily News Sources: Roger Clemens had 10-year fling with country star Mindy McCready By TERI THOMPSON and NATHANIEL VINTON in New York and CHRISTIAN RED in Nashville DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITERS Updated Monday, April 28th 2008, 12:03 AM Roger Clemens carried on a decade-long affair with country star Mindy McCready, a romance that began when McCready was a 15-year-old aspiring singer performing in a karaoke bar and Clemens was a 28-year-old Red Sox ace and married father of two, several sources have told the Daily News. The revelations could torpedo claims of an unsullied character that are central to the defamation suit Clemens filed Jan. 6 against his former personal trainer Brian McNamee. Vivid details of the affair could surface in several media projects that McCready is involved with - including a documentary that begins filming today in Nashville, a new album and a reality show. McCready, who lives on a quiet, tree-lined street in Nashville, is attempting a career comeback following a string of legal and personal woes. Contacted by the Daily News Sunday through his lawyer Rusty Hardin, Clemens confirmed a long-term relationship but denied that it was of a sexual nature. "He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her." Hardin said the Rocket's wife, Debbie, knew McCready and that the singer had traveled on his plane. From a public relations standpoint, Clemens' decision to file the suit against McNamee the night the Rocket appeared with Mike Wallace on "60 Minutes" could end up being the biggest risk he has taken yet. Clemens, under investigation for perjury, has already endured the ignominy of publicly admitting his wife's own human growth hormone use, having photos of bloody gauze and needles linked to him and embarrassing scrutiny of an alleged injection-site abscess on his buttocks. 'Anything is fair game' The romantic link to McCready, which spanned his stints with the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees and Astros, could emerge as a trump card for McNamee's legal team. "The issue in Roger's suit against McNamee is Roger's reputation and how it has been damaged," said Richard Emery, one of McNamee's lawyers who is handling the defamation suit. "If it's proved that he's a philanderer, his reputation is already damaged. When you sue for defamation, you put your whole reputation in the community at issue. Anything is fair game, including his claim of sanctimonious purity. We would cross-examine him and other witnesses who might impact on his alleged behavior. We would probably subpoena her and witnesses who knew [of the relationship]. He's a 'family man' - he implies that. It's about what his damages are. All is fair game." As I grabbed the POST this morning I saw this blared on the cover of the Daily News, wondered what it was about. Funny thing about Clemens, stories about how faithful he was to his wife have long been out there, but even a rep here at my job knows otherwise from seeing him in local bars over the years.
Nothing surprises me anymore. I would like to hear from McCready - I mean, all sides are acknowledging they knew each other. His wife knew about her. Whats the true story here.

Well if it's true, at least he got her when she was young, because lately she's looking a little rough. Hell Roger even got her before Superman Dean Cain

I think I've mentioned this before.
My ex-brother in law was/is a professional golf long-driver. He has mutual sponsorships with John Daly and since the two are both quite redneck-ish, they had developed some level of friendship. According to him, according to Daly, Clemens had a significant fling with Daly's wife. Not sure if it was the 1st wife, the second wife Daly abused, or the third wife that abused Daly.

One of my coworkers hangs out in a heap of uptown bars, where the word from the bar-staff is that Clemens made his way through all the cocktail girls and regular female crowd a few times over. But, I bought this up when all the A-Rod stuff was going on, who is to say he and his wife do not have an "agreement?"

When I saw the headline, I thought it was a slow news day. C'mon, if there's some truth to this, I don't see what the big deal is because he's not the first to cheat on his wife and he won't be the last.
Not that I condone such a thing but I guess the "understanding" is...you do your thing and I will look the other way, just continue to finance the lifestyle that I've grown accustomed to but there will be hell to pay if any funky stuff comes to this house/I get embarassed by some bimno.

Well the big deal is the age thing for one, if it's true. It's illegal

Too late to do anything about that now. He was 28 when it happened. He's 63 now.

Well, from most accounts that was the age when both parties met. Already one story I am hearing is that no one is claiming anything sexual was going on at that time, and that only started MUCH later.
And, again, some parties are saying there was never anything untoward about the relationship - again, his wife knew the singer too, and they were apparently all part of the same circle. Does that mean an affair was impossible? No, of course not. Does it also mean this may be much ado about nothing, and they were actually all friends? Sure.

Well Mcnamee seems to know something because he wants her subpoenaed to testify

FOXNEWS.COM HOME > ENTERTAINMENT Report: Mindy McCready Confirms Affair With Roger Clemens
NEW YORK — Country singer Mindy McCready confirmed a long-term affair with retired pitcher Roger Clemens, who has been embroiled in a federal steroids probe, according to the New York Daily News.
"I cannot refute anything in the story," a tearful but resolute McCready told the News.
"Yes, I have known Roger Clemens for a long time," McCready said, reading from a prepared statement. "He's a kind and caring man. He's also a legendary athlete. The central topic in the debate, however, regards his professional life, not his personal life.
"There are legal matters working their way through the system that have nothing to do with me. From my point of view, that is where the focus should remain."

LOL @ this.
Barbara Leslie, the wife of Ed "Brutus Beefcake" Leslie claimed in today's Boston Herald that Roger Clemens made a pass at her 18 years ago. This came off allegations of Clemens having an affair with country music singer Mindy McCready, starting when she was 15. Barbara wasn't married to Ed Leslie when this happened. She claimed she turned him down.

And more...
Source: Roger Clemens had several women, flew them on private jet
Roger Clemens hung out with several attractive women in his baseball career, including beauties in California and Boston and a former Manhattan bartender named Angela Moyer.
Clemens, 45, flew the women around the country on his private jet and bought expensive jewelry for at least one of them, a source told the Daily News Tuesday.
As the Daily News first reported Sunday, the Rocket carried on a decade-long affair with country singer Mindy McCready, who confirmed the romantic relationship Monday.
Moyer, a 30-year-old Realtor who lives in the Harrisburg, Pa., area, worked as a bartender from 2000 to 2004 at Sutton Place, a yuppie East Side watering hole. That's roughly the same time the pitching legend played for the Yankees.
Moyer acknowledged she knew Clemens, but has declined to discuss the relationship. She was spotted driving up to her father's apartment house Tuesday night, but said only "no comment" when asked about Clemens. She then sped off.
McCready, meanwhile, appeared at a suburban Nashville studio Tuesday to begin recording the comeback album she hopes will revive her career, which has stalled as the result of legal troubles.
"I've been playing poker and I invented a new game called 'I win,'" McCready said with a laugh, still nervous from her time under the media microscope this week.
Her mother, Gayle Inge, later told The News, "I know Roger was infatuated with Mindy."
The romantic relationship with McCready could cause big problems for Clemens, who portrayed himself as a devoted family man at the Feb. 13 congressional hearing on steroids and baseball.
Clemens filed a defamation suit in January against Brian McNamee, his former personal trainer, who accused the seven-time Cy Young Award winner of using performanceenhancing drugs.
McNamee's lawyer, Richard Emery, said revelations of affairs could hamper Clemens' claims that McNamee's drug allegations damaged his reputation.
Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, did not return a call for comment Tuesday night.
The FBI is investigating Clemens for perjury after he denied McNamee's steroid accusations under oath at the February congressional hearing.
His wife, Debbie, has also emerged as a character in Clemens' Mitchell Report saga. The News first reported that McNamee injected Clemens' wife with human growth hormone before she posed for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit spread.
Former slugger Jose Canseco said he was stunned to learn his former teammate had an affair with McCready.
"I found out about it Tuesday and it took me completely by surprise," said Canseco, who wrote in his first book, "Juiced," that the legendary pitcher never strayed from his wife.
"I saw none of it. If it is true, he kept it secret."
