notables:
Micah Owings (you've all heard his name since the beginning of the season. Hit a few out this year.)
Carlos Zambrano (another great hitter with HRs)
Dontrelle Willis (not really gonna hit with DET but was good with Florida.)
Matt Cain (I feel like he's gotten some big hits with SF last year and this year)
back in the day: Rick Rhoden (used to pinch-hit when he was with the Yankees and a fine hitter in Pittsburgh)
Who else we got?
This would also be a good thread to keep track of pitcher's HRs.

I actually was at the Yankee game where Rhoden was in the lineup as a DH.
Owings is a SICK hitter. He would be smart to push to play his entire career in the NL, as he loves to swing the wood. When he was drafted there was a big split on what position to draft him at, and what to do with him. Pitching won out, but AZ has the best of both worlds right now.
Another guy is Pitts John Van Benschoten, who has been ripped by injuries, but when he was drafted as a pitcher people were killing on the Pirates for not keeping him at first base. He split at college, and was a hitter with prodigious power.
Talking hitting, make sure you throw Mike Hampton into the list, although we have not seen him on a field in forever.
Its funny that Cain is such a good hitter, cause he is built wierd, and is sort of a goof. But you're right on, he can handle himself in the old batters box.

Let's not make it seem like Rhoden was a regular DH. The guy had one at bat in his Yankee career. He had a .238 career average, which is decent for a pitcher.
Jason Giambi has 14 hits this year. Micah Owings has 10.

Hey, idiot, I said "I was at THE GAME" - not ONE OF THE GAMES where he DHd. Cause there was only one, as I was pretty specific about. I think we all know Rick Rhoden was not a DH on his days off, Mr "I did not know Richie Sexson was that tall."
I have forgotten more about Rick Rhoden than you ever knew, including the fact that right now he is a top-notch senior golfer.

The most pathetic site I ever witnessed was El Duque at the plate.

The most pathetic site I ever witnessed was El Duque at the plate. He wasn't nearly as bad as Hideki Irabu.

Yeah, I might have to concede that one.

I've seen El Duque get a few hits as Met. Wang, in the few at-bats in interleague, has looked like a fool.

Your boy Van Derhoosen is pitching/hitting today... against Hudson. Let's see how good of a hitter he really is. ;D I like them Giants pitchers. They all hit. I thought it was funny when Randy Johnsoon went to the NL. They were all questioning his hitting and he got a then he got a hit in his first NL at bat. I actually was at the Yankee game where Rhoden was in the lineup as a DH. Owings is a SICK hitter. He would be smart to push to play his entire career in the NL, as he loves to swing the wood. If I recall, one of the Dodgers aces from the 80s was a very good hitter - either Fernando or Orel.

Have to give C.C. Sabathia a mention since he hit a HR last week and it was never posted. Now do us a favor and come pitch for the Yankees. I want him. Do you guys?

I have wavered on that. His bulk is a question, and a potential issue waiting to happen. Hes carrying around too much baggage.

As is the case with everyone--depends on cost, and the years. I also am not a fan of his fatness.
