LEGENDARY STAR CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO PASSES AWAY By Dave Scherer on 2009-10-14 10:11:12
We have just received word that legendary WWF star Captain Lou Albano has passed away. Lou was a true classic and someone who was instrumental in the WWF's rise from a regional company to a national promotion. He will be missed.
We send our deepest sympathies out to his friends and family.

Beat me to it. I had let a couple of folks know over the past week that the end seemed near. He had been set up with hospice care, and was not long for this world.
Have lots of Lou memories, but he stands out in doofy things like the Dr D David Schultz wedding. The stories about his relationship with Vince Jr are funny.
RIP Captain Lou!

Truly a legend. I won't even make fun of him--that's how cool he was. I actually met the guy at a wrestling independent show once. Very nice guy.

Can we get a pic or two on the top of this thread to honor Capt. Lou?

Greatest tag team manager of all time. Interestingly enough, I started watching wrestling just as he turned face, so I pretty much have zero experience with Albano the heel.

Balls then you undoubtedly missed the best work of Captain Lou. Most of his career was as one of the greatest heel managers of all time. You should try to find some clips........

So last night I was thinking about what I may have had that was Captain Lou heavy, and I remembered I had an old tape with that MTV "War to Settle the Score." What a hoot that was. I watched the first part of it, with an intro towards the match, highlights and clips. Lots of Captain Lou.
Funniest thing was Mean Gene was co-hosting with MTVS ALAN HUNTER.
One funny clip was Lou doing an interview relaxing on a lawn chair, no shirt on, food crumbs all over his belly.

Tom I remember that interview well....Talking of training Moolah on "unborn Virgin's goatmilk".....for some reason that has stuck with me thru the years....
Nothing was better then the Captain interfering on behalf of one of his tag teams only to be caught with flaling hands with a punch leading to a hilarious fall and roll out of the ring....

Cap, when Gene was talking about that diet of unborn virgins goatmilk Lou had Moolah on, they showed Lou and Moolah sitting around eating what appeared to be 4 foot heroes.
Someone should make a YouTube tribute video of Lou getting hammered and knocked out of the ring as described above.
The only thing that may be considered better was when Freddy Blassie was being introduced, and he would be smiling ear to ear, and then once the fans erupted in boos he would act like he was shocked and surprised he would be booed, than he would get mad and start yelling at the fan and waving his cane around.

Theres a fantastic interview with Heyman on one of my premium sites, where he tells the funny stories about Lou constantly showing up to MSG shows drunk off his gourd, leading to angry exchanges and he being fired. He would then stagger off to Charlie O's or the Blarney Stone, pound pots of coffee, and come back a couple of hours later and all would be forgiven....until the next MSG show when it would happen all over again.

That was an awesome tribute. It's really a shame most of his work came before my time.
