Hulk Hogan will be holding a press conference surrounding his new book (which I have decided not to get for now...more on my decision later) - at MSG. Return to the Garden for Hulk, albeit in the lobby / veranda area, at 2PM on Tuesday. Public is invited. Balls, take a long lunch and report back to us.

HOGAN HAS SIGNED WITH TNA WRESTLING.
Eric Bischoff is going with him. This is big news. TNA is looking to add more programming ,and become a more viable contender to WWE. Bischoff will be involved on the production / creative side.
That was the gist of this MSG press conference today. Big news!

A few things I have gleaned out of this. For one thing, SPIKE TV is involved, and they are looking for new wrestling programming under the TNA banner. There will be more shows, so I dont think they will be shedding the talent around there. From early reports, if Hogan and Bischoff DO have creative control, its only on things revolving around Hogan. Of course, this is bound to change.
Apparently Hogan will be all over the TV shows, but wrestling rarely. His best use would be as a Bill Watts / Mid-South sort of guy, who enforces and gets in the ring when things are out of hand. This is creating tremendous buzz, and freezing wrestling websites. Hogan will appear on THIS THURSDAYS Impact, in some sort of recorded bit, as he was not at that taping.
I think this can be a very good thing, and not just cause Im a Hogan fan. As much as some of us have liked TNA, its ratings have been stuck where they are for over a year. The PPV buys are nearly nill. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED, they are not growing. They need to try SOMETHING. And the idea of more TNA wrestling shows to help compete with WWE sounds good to me.

It will be interesting to see what the ratings will be......I don't mind him being there as long as they don't revolve everything around him. It will be interesting to see where he falls with the whole MEM stance...

The Main Event Mafia is no more. Sorry for the spoilers, but Angle has been turned face, Booker is out of the company, Steiner and Nash are just around.
Heres the latest - they are saying as big as this news is, BIGGER NEWS IS TO COME. There are rumors that maybe Flair will be coming in, to wrestle. Goldbergs name has been kicked around. All kinds of rumors out there, I even heard Shane McMahons name kicked around. Also, it seems likely they will try a land-grab and put another show on against Raw on Mondays, to kick off the wars again.
Stay tuned!

So, does this officially mean the end of jeff Jarrett in and around TNA? I know he's been gone after the Karen Angle fling became public, but if I remember right, there was legit heat between JJ & Hogan & Bischoff. I'm sure there are a few guys who have no love for Hogan in the TNA lockerroom. I wondered why the MEM was dropped so quickly after they built them up for so long...was it because of Hulk's impending arrival?

Eh, he looks in good shape, but he can hardly move. He even walks like an old man. He is the first to tell anyone that he does not think he can even consider dropping a leg again. From most accounts his ring appearances will be minimal, if at all. That said, he IS going to be wrestling on an Australian tour that Flair is going along on, where Flair can protect him and the fierce US wrestling media wont bake the matches like a cake.
As to Booker, both sides got tired of the other. Booker is claiming he will be back in WWE soon, and Ive read the two sides have indeed talked. Booker, however, thinks he would be going in to have his dream match against HBK, when WWE would be more looking at him for a Goldust "help the young guys get over" role.

I too have liked Booker through the years, but some of his work in TNA was dreadful. He got a rep for being lazy, and was no help to the younger guys. His matches were paint by number affairs, and his penchant for doing different accents during his interviews was out of place and annoying.
WWE would not put up with what ticked off TNA, if he shows back up there he best have his working boots on.

HULK HOGAN Wanted To Join METALLICA - Nov. 2, 2009 56-year-old wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has told Chicago Trubune's "About Last Night" column that he played bass guitar in high school and that he tried to get back into music even after making it big in wrestling.
"I was in England presenting an award with Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger's ex, and she told me THE [ROLLING] STONES were looking for a bass player," Hogan said. "I sent her a ton of merchandise that she asked for and said 'Tell Mick I'm a great bass player.' I never heard a word back.
"When METALLICA was looking for a bass player, I called and never heard a word back from them either. I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for METALLICA."
Hulk Hogan was in Chicago last week to promote his autobiography, "My Life Outside The Ring".
The book is Hogan's second autobiography and offers more details on his family and childhood.

Orndorff is on the phone trying to catch up with Hulk Hogan to relay Heenan’s challenge, but apparently Hogan is refusing to come to the phone. Orndorff is extremely upset. (WWF TV 6/27/86) 7. Orndorff interrupts Vince McMahon and Bruno Sammartino at the close of the show, still mad about Hogan not wanting to come to the phone because Hogan was working out. Orndorff says that there won’t be a match next week, as he couldn’t reach his partner. (WWF TV 6/27/86) 8. Flowershop – Hogan & Orndorff show up Hogan tells Adonis that they’re ready for Studd & Bundy. But Orndorff interrupts Hogan and says that that match will take place in 2 weeks, because he’s signed a contract to face the Moondogs. Orndorff makes sure everyone knows that he’s intent on showing the world world what MR. WONDERFUL is all about. (TV 7/5/86) 9. Hulk Hogan & Paul Orndorff v. The Moondogs (Orndorff still thinks he has something to prove here, as he refuses to tag Hogan into the match. Orndorff pretty much wins the match without ever letting Hogan get in the ring, and ignores Hogan during the post match pose down as he courts the fans’ cheers. Hogan, ever the good friend, doesn’t show any signs of being offended. Does this mean that everything is ok again between the two? WWF TV 7/12/86) 10. Hogan & Orndorff are backstage prior to their big match. Orndorff is still a little upset about the phone call that Hogan didn’t take , but assures Hogan that he’s ready for the match. (WWF TV 7/19/86) 11. Hulk Hogan & Paul Orndorff v. King Kong Bundy & Big John Studd (In the biggest shocker of the year, ORNDORFF TURNS ON HOGAN AND REJOINS BOBBY HEENAN! Orndorff obviously was upset about the missed phone call, but was even more upset and JEALOUS that Hogan was more popular with the crowd. That phone call was just the last straw, and the opening that Heenan needed to encourage Orndorff to turn heel again and rejoin “The Brain’s” family. Afterward, Orndorff celebrates with Heenan, Studd, Bundy and Adrian Adonis.) WWF TV 7/19/86 12. Int – Hulk Hogan, regarding Paul Orndorff turning on him last week. Footage is shown of the events leading up to the breakup, as well as the breakup itself. (WWF TV 8/2/86) 13. Hulk Hogan on TNT (8/6/86) 14. Hulk Hogan & George “The Animal” Steele v. Randy Savage & Adrian Adonis (Boston 8/9/86) or hulkamania 2 15. Hulk Hogan v. Paul Orndorff (VERY GOOD MATCH! The Big Event 8/28/86)

Thanks to the PWTorch for this -
WWE Hall of Famers Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair worked an angle at a press conference in Australia to promote their series of matches in Australia this month.
The angle included Flair attacking Hogan during the conference, then Hogan bleeding to sell the media reporters gathered at the event on the "feud" between Hogan and Flair.
From the Herald Sun: "The press conference veered violently out of control today as Hulk Hogan and ring rival Ric Flair let their animosity break into a full scale bloody brawl."
The first match on the tour is on Saturday night in Melbourne. The rest of the schedule is Tuesday in Perth, next Thursday in Brisbane, and next Saturday in Sydney.

So check this out - picked up the WWE released Hogan set yesterday, the unreleased till now footage, and it included a Hogan - BOB BACKLUND match from 1980, in Philly. Watched it, what a battle. Time of the match? 29 minutes!!! 29! 29 minutes of Backlund and Hogan playing catch as catch can, and Backlund trying to fend off Hogans power attack.
There was no commentary for this originally unaired match, so JR and Lawler did it, and it was much more intelligent than anything usually involving the King.
But holy crap, what a spirited battle, for nearly a half-hour. Id love to see what Cactus James would think of a match like this, where Hogan executed leg rolls, airplane spins, and other kinds of leglocks and submission type manuevers on the mat.

Did it end with Mr. Backlund pinning Hogan, or some sort of no decision?
And other thing--how come you don't see airplane spins anymore? That's a very old fashioned move, but it's one that actually fits well in any era. It makes a great finishing move because it actually makes sense that making someone dizzy can cause a 3 count.

More often than not on these airplane spin spots, the guy doing the spinning tumbles to the mat as well after its released too, as he's apparently dizzy himself. In this match, Hogan spun Backlund, who came back and did the same to him moments later.
No decision, and the airplane spin came into play. Backlund spun Hogan around, they ended up near the ropes, and they tumbled out. Cause Backlund was "so dizzy" he did not beat the count back into the ring. Of course Hogan than grabbed the belt and acted like he won the title, but the ref made the save, as there was no pinfall or submission involved.
Ross and Lawler actually discussed the merits of the airplane spin, and acknowledged its a lost move from the past.

So then Hogan won on a countout.
This sounds like it could be a decent match, though I think the commentary by Lawler and Ross would make or break it.
The airplane spin is definitely a lost art. I can totally see how both parties get dizzy. But I never understood how dancers don't get dizzy (even with that "focus on one point" thing).
It's one of the best moves from the past that is no longer done.
The worst move ever though is the abdominal stretch.

Well, the Hogan tour kicked off in Australia mere hours ago, and here was a live report on the main event Hogan / Flair battle - thanks to www.f4wonline.com for this. MAIN EVENT - HULK HOGAN vs RIC FLAIRHulk Hogan def. Ric Flair with the brass knuckles after Lacey Von Erich distracted the referee Flair made his way to the ring to an okay rendition of his music. He looked incredible sad as he leaned on the ropes and watched the Hogan pre tape air on the screen. Crowd absolutely adored this promo. "On the 7th day God created all of the Australian Hulkamaniacs." Alright Hulk. Hogan came out to his old WCW music and they locked up. At this point the entire lockeroom had emptied behind the entranceway and was watching intently. I could only identify Eric Bischoff and Lacey Von Erich who was just clapping and bouncing. Flair bumped off two shoves and they did some shoulder blocks off the ropes. Hogan went outside and tore off his knee brace and handed it to a member of the crowd. They began exchanging back in the middle of the ring before Hogan whipped him into the corner and began scaling the ropes. I covered my eyes as his foot appeared to slip, but he stayed up there. Flair threw some chops and worked over the leg before locking in the Figure Four. At this point Lacey Von Erich ran down to ringside and the whole spectacle was cheapened. Hogan worked him over with his belt on the outside to no DQ, before Flair resumed control again. Hogan hulked up to the biggest pop of the night and hit the big boot. Lacey got on the apron and began distracting the referee which allowed Hogan to pick up Flair's brass knuckles and clock him for the pin. Both guys bled with Flair looking as if he'd struck an artery. Hogan posed down as Flair made his way to the back taking a completely different way as to avoid the lockeroom. Hogan made his way back as Eric hugged him and patted him on the back.

Yeah, and they got the added bonus of being in Australia, where the people there are thirsting for these people. Hogan had not appeared there. I have read in more than one place that Hogan got a pop never heard in the building (including anyone showing up on the WWE cards, or Britney Spears at her concerts, etc)

Heres results from the 2nd match on the show, which were just posted on www.f4wonline.com thanks to them for this. Lots of chicanery in this one! Before the match, the ring announcer said this is now No DQ. Deafening reactions for both Hogan and Flair. Hogan came out to the WCW American Made theme music. Both bled heavily very early in the match. Lots of chops to Hogan, he took his only back bump in the match from one of them. Hogan threw Flair off the top rope. Flair did the full moon spot. Orlando Jordan and Heidenreich came out and started beating down Hogan, but the Nasty Boys made the save and also gave Flair Pitty City. Hogan and Flair crowd brawled for a while. At one point Jimmy Hart came out and pulled Lacey Von Erich off the apron, accidentally exposing her ass for a moment. Hogan also gave her an atomic drop. Umaga then came out and beat up on Hogan and gave him the corner splash. Hogan then Hulked up, gave Flair a terrible big boot then clocked him with Jimmy Harts megaphone for the pin.

The pic of Naitch making that piece of crap taste his own blood makes me so happy, it's one of the best pics ever put on top this board.
BTW, I read reports that the matches have been horrible.

You are only telling part of the story. The action was bad, but the crowd loved it, and they put on a great show. Even the critics said they did what they went out there to do, and the fans loved the Flair / Hogan battles, even if they were smoke and mirror sorta matches.

You'll be happy to know that Hulk has moved on from Linda. He and the new girl (forgot her name) are officially engaged.
