Yeah, the old mentor/friend getting beat down is a good way to get two guys with no reason to fight in an angle. This is already established, and they will work on it a different way.

The only way they can tie it in, and its not needed in any way, is if Umaga beats up Teddy Long. Although Lashley is no longer on Smackdown, he and Long are "tight" and whenever he appears, Long tells him how proud he is, and they exchange pleasantries. That said, as jovial as Teddy Long is, Umaga beating him up certainly wont turn Lashley's world upside down.
Balls, let the writers do their job. They have come up with some good stuff in this program already.

Teddy Long wouldn't be a good choice anyway.
They could get a guy to be Lashley's dad, and have Umaga beat HIM down.
I don't really like the "living hell" part of this. I guess it goes back to what I said before. I'd rather them just go at it without the McMahon/Trump thing.
I think a feud like this would be better if they just hated each other, rather then just being their respective billionaire's lackeys.

YAWN
Who cares? Why are you hung up on this dumb mentor/friend angle?
The dad thing was done already, just a few months ago, with Cena and his Dad.
The "billionaire lackey" thing works fine, as this is not the main event of the card, but this match is going to end up getting the most attention (ESPECIALLY mainstream attention) at the end of the day, for exactly why you dont think this works.

Didn't they run a segment about how Lashley's dad left the family when he was a kid and how he struggled as the only boy in a poor family?
The living hell also works better because the fans usually rally behind the guy Vince is going after, and if they rally behind Lashley he will skyrocket.
Plus it just makes more sense. Why would Umaga squash his dad? They are on different shows.

Well, Umaga IS following Lashley show to show. This week alone the two of them will be appearing on all 3 shows. I complain alot about the lax nature of the "brand split" but considering they are selling Wrestlemania this month, I get it.
And, yeah, you're right - Lashley's real-life Dad is not around.
