Just finished watching the documentary portion of this over the weekend, and its as good as advertised. The WWE documentaries have all been getting high marks recently, but this is the first that I had noticed was universally regarded as excellent across the board. I could not find a negative word around this (aside from not enough extras, in matches or promos), anywhere.
The only negative is someone forgot to tell Arn wrestling is fake, and he was "in character" the whole time. Thats not how these work. So everyone else is telling the story behind the story, and Arn busts in acting like the parking lot attack on Dusty Rhodes was real. That got old after a while.
The clips on here are outstanding. The doc is at least 2 hours long, and most of it is full of clips and cuts from promos, matches, interviews from the podium, you name it. There was a fair amount of Lex, Sid, Jarrett, and Roma bashing, some of it unnecessary, but Roma was hilarious shooting back.
At $19.99 at your local Best Buy, I see no reason for ya'll to not run out and add this to your collection.
I would have bought it for the Ricky Morton/Ric Flair cage match which is included alone. It also has one of the "never before DVD'd" Wargames battles.
I have the extra bonus, as a Torch subscriber, to being able to download and enjoy their 4-part FIVE HOUR retrospective on the Horsemen, which goes along with the release of this DVD. Hoo-ra!

Awesome DVD, one of my favorites that I own. Sid was panned all across the board. And I didn't mine Arns stuff, I saw it as he took a more serious approach in the sense that in did draw a huge reaction and after laying a beating on someone, there was almost a riot in the building. It was fine by me cause of the contrast Tom pointed out, Flair and Tully Blanchard all talked about behind the scene stuff where Arn took the approach on how it affected business. I thought it was outstanding.

Yeah, they do rip Sid a new one, and pretty much echo what you said, Sancho, about him being out of place. I must admit, though, and this is coming from a guy who was never really a "Sid fan" - I liked that version of the Horsemen alot, cause they were intimidating as Hell, and they were also running in and beating ass even more than they did in the olden days.
I have a lot of vids from around that time, off of TV, and they were running in and throwing beatdowns multiple times per show. It was a true gang. Sid and Barry together were bruisers. It was mentioned on the DVD that no one had the killer body that Sid did, he looked the part, but yeah, he moved like a robot.
But that incarnation of the Horsemen was actually my favorite.

I think that incarnation is one of my favorites also. Like Sancho, that was the first I saw of them, and being a kid and seeing Sid and Barry run over people was awesome. As I grew older and saw more footage of the first four, I appreciate them more, but I go with the Sid horsemen by default because of the nostalgia factor.

Well since we're dating ourselves, the fist I saw was the one with Benoit and Pillman etc. But when I asked my uncle about them he told be about Ole Anderson and Tully and JJ, and even showed me some of his old wrestling mags with the original horseman. The jackass got an ebay kick and sold them, totally ripping off his huge wrestling fan nephew who loves collecting shit. I think part of me seeing the Melenko, Benoit Pillman horseman first made me favor the hour long marathons over big stiff guys using all power moves. Fuck Sid and the imposing body, I hated him as HBKs bodyguard too, and Mongo sucked too, later on. My thinking is if they're big, they're clumsy, Benoit looked mean as hell and stretched people out. Flying Brian, enough said. I loved how he shitted in Kevin Sullivans mouth on ppv. But I'm the same as Grover, the original four standout, cause any faction that gets over does it by imitating the horsemen to a certain extent.

Um, James, you do know the Pillman/Sullivan thing was a work, right? The "Booker Man" comment was worked out between the two, who were zooming most of the boys. Pillman was a master at the so-called "worked shoot."
Mongo got some respect on the DVD. While I liked the way he originally joined the group, by turning on Kevin Greene, I was not happy he was around. But for a big lummox, he was not all that bad. He did some ok work in the ring.

Which made his stint as a cohost on Nitro so unbearable. Hey, remember his little doofy dog?

Oh God don't remind me. He just ruined a match between Eddie Guerrero and Jeff Jarrett by smacking Jarrett on the back with that empty briefcase on Nitro airing on 24/7.
