Lets move all the hootenanny over this into one thread.
Interesting aside out of all this, the pyro company that rigged this whole thing is based in the Brown hometown, Deer Park, New York! Hoo-ha!
Also, John Cena was on Conan last night, and the McMahon explosion was not even mentioned. Ok then!
Here's a little skinny on the pyro company, courtesy of the Torch.
The explosion was staged and supervised by Zenith Pyrotechnology, based in Deerpark, N.Y. The initial filming took place between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. so that nobody was around to either be startled by it or ask questions. Permits were filed with the city and county by the pryo company. The permits were filed early the previous week, so McMahon had been planning this angle at least that long.

Off the Observer website....this is amusing.
Tazz was on Max Kellerman's radio show today. Tazz wanted to talk baseball but Max wanted to talk about Vince and asked who would want to kill Vince, suggesting it was Bret Hart. Tazz said he was sure it wasn't Bret Hart. Both were complaining about how the mainstream media should be giving this more coverage. Tazz tried to act like Vince was really dead while Max was mocking it. Tazz said ratings on ECW were up 15% this week (actually 20%) (thanks to Jonathan D'Antoni)

I'm surprised this kind of angle isn't getting them a lot of heat from people like the Harts or the Guererros. The tribute on Smackdown was a complete parody of the dead wrestler tributes.
It was funny, but I could see how it could rub people the wrong way.
Regal's speech though? Outstanding.

Not only are the Guerreros not beefing, Chavo obviously took part in the backstage segments. Yeah, its an eyebrow-scruncher for sure. It is tasteless, surely.
I agree, Regal was spectacular. He does everything well.

And I would think Bret was also aware of the angle in advance. But it truly makes a mockery of those two specials specifically.
Whenever a wrestler dies, a lot of times you think it's part of the show. But until now, that never was the case.
I don't mind it at all, but I can see it upsetting people.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find this angle amazingly stupid yet funny at the same time.

Where are they going with it? Vince will just come back and say "I fooled you"? I can't understand how ratings are that good. Who honestly is buying into this whole Vince is dead gimmick? Steph's speech last night was so bad. She even slipped up and tried to cover it up.

The thing is, I don't think ANYONE is buying it. I agree with Grover. It's stupid and funny at the same time.

Yeah, and what's really funny about it is how many people are getting mad about it. I see their point on how it cheapens real wrestlers deaths, but reading how mad these people get is a hoot.

I haven't seen too many seriously mad people, though I've been pretty limited to the reaction on this board.

The wrestling boards and reviews are very upset with the whole thing. I think it's been funny.

Yep I think it is funny and those who can't seperate what is real life and what is storyline or make believe have serious problems..Yes people die it is a fact of life so I guess there should be no movies or shows where people die...Give me a break..That being said..may God bless the soul of Mr. McMahon..I for one will miss you and appreciate you.....

Lets get this straight, guys. Hardly anyone is offended that McMahon was killed off. Not many are offended a death was tossed into a wrestling angle. What people ARE upset about is how, as addressed above, it trivializes the REAL deaths. People are aghast that Vicki Guerrero was standing out on the ramp for a phony moment of silence for McMahon.
People are upset that Stephanie "cried" her way through a speech about her departed Dad, that sounded a lot like the "crying" she did when Owen, and Eddie, died.
And now Sherri Martel is dead, and the story of her REAL death, and the graphic of her REAL death, is sharing space (and a lot less of it) with Vince's FAKE death on WWE.COM, and coming out of commercials. Look, if dozens upon dozens of wrestlers did not suffer untimely ends in the last few years, there would not be a peep about any of this. IT TRIVIALIZES THE REAL SITUATIONS THE WWE HAS FOUND ITSELF IN TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
How are the fans ever to take a 10 bell salute seriously again? They are making it part of the "show!"
THAT is where the rage is. And I do understand it. But please, dont mistake the rage for people upset that a fake wrestling character was killed off. That is NOT what the outrage is springing from.

It would be interesting if Vince McMahon really died while this angle was going on.

Thats been bandied about. In any case, when he really DOES die, there is a great chance Raw and Smackdown will still be on the air, and all the wind will be out of the sails for whatever memorial they got up their sleeve come that time.
I will say one thing, though....I cant wait till the moment Vince comes walking back on screen, no matter how they do it. Its going to be a moment to remember.
Oh, and one other thing - the WORST possible storyline I am hearing regarding this is that the cast of JACKASS is behind it....one story is that Steve O was supposed to be in it and escape as a stunt, and Vince got in the "wrong limo."
That would be CORNY.

I bet Vince will return on a PPV.
I'd rather it be on Raw.
One plot question would be the other McMahons. Would they be IN on it, making THEM bigger heels, or would they NOT be in on it, making them faces while Vince gets more heat?
There are a lot of things they can do with this angle, though it will be a hard angle to end well.

Its either going to end up being the Jackass rumor, or Vince fooling everyone. It will NOT be a straight-up "someone tried to kill him" angle for obvious continuity reasons (as in that would be a prison-offense, not a "Im going to put you in a match against Umaga for that offense)
And he will NOT return on a PPV in front of 5% of the audience he would have if it was on a Raw. You have GOT to be kidding with that idea.

I don't like it either, but it's kind of a big deal, and it just seems like something like that would come out of nowhere on a PPV.

Eh, they dont do that. Mind telling us the last shocker that happened on a PPV? May need to go back to Survivor Series 97...
There is a reason they dont do "angles" on PPVs. No one sees them.

I don't want it done on a PPV. In fact, I may have to use my influence as both the WWF Heavyweight Fan Sign Champion and of course the captain of the 2005 Bleacher Softball World Champion Pimps to make sure it happens on Raw. If it happens on a PPV, that will be disrespectful, and I will remember it. Vince doesn't want to get on my bad side.

WWE.com is currently soliciting fan opinions on what happened to Mr. McMahon. Here is my entry:
It's no secret that Vincent Kennedy McMahon was a billionaire. It was his vision that took a small time regional operation and made it become the world wide sports entertainment phenomenon that it is today. Mr. McMahon built an empire. He was a genius.
Yet let's face it, his family was not the normal nuclear family. He fought his own son on PPV. On more than one occasion, he feuded with and humiliated his daughter. And let's face it--how many divas did Mr. McMahon have sex with? He publicly flaunted his adultery?
All three of them had a score to settle with Mr. McMahon. And who would benefit more from the death of Mr. McMahon than Shane, Stephanie and Linda?
Sure they seemed to have put their differences behind them and seemed like a happy family, but appearances can be deceiving. Let's not forget the genetics involved here.
The McMahons have the resources to fool investigators. They have the resources to make an explosion look like an accident. They even have the resources to make sure no traces of Mr. McMahon's body was found.
Stephanie's tears were touching, but give that woman an academy award. OJ cried too.
What better way to get revenge on Vincent Kennedy McMahon than to take away the most important things to him--his company, his money, and his life?
There is no question in my mind that Federal Investigator Daniel Beck will uncover the truth.

You need to start collecting coins or stamps or something.
As for the angle, I think it's funny but also think it shits on past wrestlers that have died, and like Tom said, when he actually does die. Which is fine if he wants to shit on himself, But that's low to the guys who break their necks so he can fill his pockets. Everything else I laugh at, like what the fuck is the federl investigations center? LOL. It's so fucking insane, it's funny to an extent.

Why so offended James? Could it be that YOU had something to do with the death of Vincent Kennedy McMahon? The McMahon family would need someone to do their dirty work, and you certainly do not have an allergy to money. Be careful, because for all you know, this board is read by Federal Investigator Daniel Beck.

I do hope that Sheik Productions gets a spot on Raw as a result of Coach being temporarily in charge....
