You can use this thread to try to stump people, or just to find out stuff you don't know.
Tom and I were talking about this the other day.
It seems like the Undertaker has a history of going away for a long time, and coming back--usually to take on the guy that put him out of action.
He'll be gone, someone will then talk about him and/or brag about being the guy to end his career, and then you'll eventually start getting teaser promos of him.
I think the first instance was with the fake Undertaker (Brian Leak), but I'm not 100 percent sure.
I'd be curious if someone can come up with the complete list of these things.

If I remember, the first time he "went away" it was at the hands off the entire WWF heel roster at a pay per view, where they all ganged up on him, only to watch him descend above the Titantron.
They then brought in the fake Undertaker who was supposed to tease the fans into thinling he was back. If I recall, this is one of the first angles that blew up because of the internet explosion, as pretty much people were chanting hes a fake from the moment he hit TV, while the announcers would ask, "Why is the Undertaker acting funny?" ignoring the Under-faker chants.

I think I was at the card where the fake Undertaker debuted.

I was in white Plains back when they did the marathon RAW tapings (three shows) Fake Undertaker came out, walked around, ignored paul Bearers urn and left.
I loved when RAW used to tape in small venues like the Manhattan Center and White Plains, they used some trick camera angles to make the joints look much bigger on TV. The most amazing thing about those tapings is WWF didn't even sell them out, used to just show up that night (in White Plains at least). And this place held 3,000 tops. I think Vince taped there just because it was close to Stamford and he was bleeding money at that point. (This was right ebfore the "attitude era")

It was in White Plains. That was around the time I'd get to the front row, and you would see me throwing my hands in the air when Men on a Mission came out. That was also when the WWF gave me a free Ico Pro shirt and put the camera on me for their ad.

No wonder Ico Pro went out of business.

If I had known you back then, I would have encouraged them to involve you in one of their campaigns. You would be known as Mr. Before.

It was also in white Plains that Bobby Hennan made his last appearance when Gorilla Monsoon "threw him off" RAW, and also the site of one of the memorable Michaels-Janetty battles. For such a dump it saw some pretty big events in the mid 90's WWF

Wow...of all the wrestling fans on here, I didn't figure on being the first one to throw out Marty Jannetty as the answer to Sancho's trivia question. Then again, Tom is at the Islander game.
And no, James, it was the Royal Rumble where Luger and Bret Hart tied. I remember it well, because it was my senior year of high school and it was like the second time I ever ate pussy.

Thats actually an answer I had known, and forgot. I would have had to "research" that one. For all the arcane stuff I do know, its sorta easy to trip me up in trivia matters.

You've forgotten more about wrestling than I'll ever know, so no foul there.
Sure, I'll throw one out there, inspired somewhat by the aforementioned Brian Lee. He was the first heavyweight champion in Jim Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling promotion.
SMW had your usual cast of those who ran around indy circuits in the early 90s. Chris Jericho and Lance Storm were part of the Thrillseekers tag team in SMW. They had another member of that tag team.
Name him.

Holy crap, I just read Jericho's book and he did not even mention that. That is another one I would need to research.
Smoky Mountain is solid stuff. WWE owns all the footage, and use clips on the 24/7 offering, but have not started showing the TV shows with any regularity, or in full.
WWE actually rekicked up the Thrillseekers team / name in the OVW proving ground, with the team of Johnny Jeter (who had a stint in the Spirit Squad) and Matt Capatelli (who sadly now is battling a brain tumor)

You're probably the only one who would get it without looking it up if you really thought about it, and not because you know wrestling, per se.

He didn't wrestle with them for very long. In fact, I'm sure it wasn't for more than a couple of matches.
He was more well known in wrestling as a commentator, particularly with WCW.
He was unceremoniously fired by WCW just a month or so before it was bought out by WWE. However, he is still pretty active in wrestling forums, writing guest columns and such. And one of his bigger achievements was as editor of the best-selling book "To Be The Man," the biography of The Nature Boy, Ric Flair.
He is the host of a highly-rated sports talk program right here in Pittsburgh.
He is Pittsburgh native......Mark Madden.
