I used to love when Sheik Adnan Al Kaisse aka Billy Whitewolf used to yell at Resnick during his interviews.....

OK I am watching this now and the first two matches included a young Shawn Michaels getting the duke followed up with an equally as young Scott Hall (at that time babyface tag champs with Curt Henning) getting a win.....Nice Larry legend and Janetty interview segment....I believe Crusher Blackwell is in the main event vs. Boris Zukov....

What a great match/brawl on the Monday show I watched last night. Stan "The Lariet" Hansen defending his AWA crown against Curt Hennig. Around this time Hennig was right up there as a favorite of mine, which shot through the roof in the coming couple of years when he went heel. Those two put on a Hell of an exhibition here, battling all around the ring. Hansen was a cyclone of intensity, and Hennig was always gold before his back woes.
The good old "time limit expired' which was their out. I am looking forward to more Hennig, and more Hansen as well. Read in this weeks Observer the AWA tapes are slated to run through the middle of June.

I have been having a lot of fun with these. If any of you old-school fans are not running the DVR, you are missing out on some darn good wrestling. I am a big mark for, believe it or not, the tag team of Buddy Rose and Doug "Pretty Boy" Somers. They have had some exciting tilts with a variety of teams, especially the Michaels and Jannetty faction. I am also enjoying all this Curt Hennig action. Taping all the Hennig, Rose, Somers matches. A lot of good brawls with the likes of Jerry Blackwell, Bruiser Brody, Nord the Barbarian, and the like.
Just saw a great brawl with - how bout this matchup - Brody vs Leon White. The future Vader. Its cool those two were in the ring way back when mixing it up. One corny spot was Shiek Adnan grabbing Vaders leg from ringside after Vader was nursing it due to some chair shots...Vader - or I should say Baby Bull White, was writhing like a little girl in pain while Adnan twisted his ankle from the floor.
Right now watching a classic Nick Bockwinkel - Col Debeers battle! Heading for a time-limit draw.

Another funny thing, at the very end of the show, just before the closing credits ran. Debeers is in the ring, and he hops onto the ropes and points at a painted lady out in the crowd and snarls, "you must be a transvestite!"
Earlier in the show, during a cutaway interview, he called Wahoo McDaniel a "savage, a plains savage."

Man it seems like these late night AWA and UWF shows are really the Col. DeBeers show......

Oh, he's been out and about on there. Always good to see "The Milkman." Dont forget, he won the infamous "turkey on a pole" match during the AWA's closing days.

I had to laugh. Watching some classic AWA over the weekend, and they had an interview with "Garden Hose" Greg Gagne, promoting an upcoming cage battle where he was to team with Jimmy Snuka against the evildoers Brusier Brody and Sheik Adnan.
Gagne did the interview behind a fence, for effect. He was very angry.
Where I had to chuckle was, while describing a heinous attack on Jerry Blackwell at the hands of Adnan and his men, he talked of Blackwell's condition being "touch and go for a while...he almost died."
Then, later in the interview he described a call from Blackwell's wife as one of the hardest he ever had to take, cause at the time "his chances of survival were only 50-50"
I mean, good gosh. Talk about overamping things.

Some fun matches the last couple of offerings featuring Mike Rotundo, who I had forgotten wrestled any AWA TV matches at all. A very competitive and hard-hitting battle with Doug Somers, and in the next episode a tag battle, working with Curt Hennig, against Larry Z and the Asian Mr Go.
One funny note - during his match with Somers the announcers were going on about how Barry Windham was injured the night before in St Petersburg, Florida, and would be out for a good while. They made it sound like he was nearly dead. So after the match Larry The Beard Nelson is interviewing Rotundo, and he asks how long Windham may be out. So Rotundo goes, "like 3, 4 days."
Yes, DAYS. Friggin' AWA taped monthly back then. Way to sell the injury!

Watching last nights offering. They are in 1990 now, and Sgt Slaughter just referenced Bart Simpson. He said, "everyone knows Bart Simpson....and you, Johnny Stewart, I am going to call you Bart WIMPson!"
LOL @ the 18 year old Bart Simpson reference.
