See, this is why I cant go away...how did you guys miss this one?
Posted Monday by the Observer, the first in a series of tributes to this great man.
RIP! He added a lot to the two recent World Class Wrestling documentaries that are out there. I really enjoyed his work, although he had a rep of "no-selling" when he was supposed to "bump."
Gary Hart passed away yesterday afternoon at his home in Euless, TX, after returning from an autograph session in Allentown, PA. He was 66.
Hart would have been among the top wrestling managers of all-time and was a fixture in the Dallas area working for Fritz Von Erich. He was best known for managing people like Bruiser Brody, The Spoiler, Great Kabuki, Chris Adams and the Great Muta.
Hart was the heel manager used when Eddie Graham and booker Bill Watts turned Dusty Rhodes babyface in Florida in 1974. As a booker, he was the mastermind of the building of Kerry Von Erich in Dallas in the early 80s, and booked the famous Christmas 1982 cage match with Ric Flair that ignited the territory.
Please share your Gary Hart memories here.

Sad to see the apathy towards the passing of Mr Gary Hart. Here is a great video of Freebird Michael Hayes, giving a final salute to the man. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw5J8YQiFc4

One of the odder aspects of this story is his last days. He did one of those wrestling conversations, and in the course of them he also did a couple of "shoot interviews" and a "World Class Roundtable" which will be available for purchase later. I'm on board, I enjoy me some Gary Hart, but it will be cryptic watching him within a couple of days of his death. From all accounts he was in good spirits, and seemed in good health.
He also has an autobiography coming out next week, another must-buy for me. I really did like the man and thought he did fine work.

Well, read in this weeks Observer that the book may not be imminent after all, and who knows if it will ever make it out. I hope so. Another thing I will keep an eye for is the two shoot interviews he did the weekend he died. From all accounts he was feeling good and happy that last weekend, making the convention circuit.
A funny note I read in his Observer obit is he was a big Jay Z fan, and a total pothead. Pot "mellowed him out."
Listened to a 60 minute audio chat about Hart on the train ride in today. And I had got to thinking how many big angles he was involved in. From his relationship with Roddy Piper in Georgia while managing Kabuki, to bringing in the Freebirds behind the scenes to kick off the Birds/Von Erich wars, to being the catalyst behind the face turn of Dusty Rhodes, to all the stuff he did with Chris Adams and Gino, to the matches where his "hair" was on the line, to being at ringside for the epic Flair / Terry Funk "I Quit" battle. Man, I had a lot of respect for this guy, and I will miss him. He was a highlight of these recent World Class releases, and if you guys dont have those in your collection, get them already.
