Well, the rumors are rampant that he is going to wave the flag and do what he swore he would not, and return to terrestrial radio in addition to his satellite duties. Basically he has totally become yesterdays news, as just about anyone could have predicted.
If the numbers are to be believed, traffic to his own website is down 71%, and his search engine traffic dropped a staggering 90%.....add to this the embarrassment of his sidekick Artie Lange's movie bombing badly, and the thrill is gone.
Radio wheeling and dealing could see him land back on either WPLJ, or AM-WABC. We shall see.
On the other side of the fence, after amazing advances in the timeslot after David Lee Roth was jettisoned, Opie and Anthony are on a downward trend in NY mornings. A Stern return will be very interesting.

O&A are also getting new stations all over america, NYs aren't bad, they could be better but the boys are fine.
As for Stern, bring it on. I can't wait to see OnA fucking slam him in mornings. They've been wanting this head to head battle and Stern has been to afraid to go to battle.I hope it happens and Stern can finally go into obscurity.

I am more an O&A guy than a Stern guy, but I would not be surprised to see Stern win a head-to-head. In fact, i would be willing to bet on it. My guess is Stern will be back on regular radio sooner rather than later, and we can revisit that idea.
I would hazard to say if Stern returned to radio next week, it would be like he did not even skip a beat. I dont see the appeal - Stern stopped being funny to me 20 years ago, but the man had his fans. And I still to this day hear a ton of them moaning that he left them behind to go to satellite, which is a horrible option these days. Hell, it did not necessarily work for O and A either, except to pad their pockets. Satellite is NOT the way to go at this point.

Artie Lange's movie was Beer League, right? I saw that over the weekend, and really liked it.

I want to see Beer League in the worst way, especially since I'm currently playing in one.
In other Howard Stern related news, in a lot of markets Adam Corolla took over Stern's slot. He's been on the air for some time now, and I just caught my first listen a week ago - it's a blatant carbon copy of Stern.

I actually heard really good things about Beer League, but the public is not buying into it, and the critics are shredding it to pieces. I heard it was a tremendous dissapointment, as there was a lot of promotion put into it, including wall-to-wall yapping about it on Stern's satellite venue. Before any of the O&A marks rip him for that, realize that O&A did the same exact thing in regards to the "O&A Travelling Virus" which is another venture that did not do nearly as well as they thought it would.

Actually, I can't say there was a lot of promotion--at least not the traditional kind with trailers and commercials. I thought it was a low key advertising.
Obviously, I can relate to the softball stuff in the movie, but I found it very funny. I definitely recommend it.

Understood, and got ya. But it was in heavy play during football, which was the most watched thing on the tube all weekend. And it still bombed.
