I just found out the Iggy Pop (And The Stooges) released a new album on March 7th. That's right, new music from Iggy Pop and the original Stooges.
I don't know about any of you but, this is big news to me. I mean, if you're any kind of fan of punk rock....hell if you're any kind of fan of "alternative" music, then this is really the guy who started it all, at least as we know it today. Sure alt-music has it's ancestry tied to bands who predate Iggy, like Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground...but in terms of hard-fast-loud-aggressive-punk-rock-n-roll, this is the MAN!
To this day, the best show I've ever seen in my life was Iggy at the El Rey in Los Angeles.
He's also touring. I hope to catch him in LA in late April.

There's just something wrong about a thread titled "The Stooges" that doesn't talk about these guys: Less acceptable, but a little acceptable would be these guys:

Balls, you are WAY too predictable. It didnt take Sherlock Holmes to see the title of this thread, know who exactly it was about, and predict that you would be in here with a corny Three Stooges reference.
So I click to confirm, and wa-la. Exactly as planned. A shame, really.

Actually, I thought it WAS about the real Stooges, and was deeply saddened to find it about something unrelated to the comedic genius of Larry, Moe and Curly. I would have even been somewhat amused if Shemp, Joe, or Curly Joe were mentioned. But then I clicked and to my dismay there was no mention of these legend. This of course plunged me into a state of depression, cured only when I found the pictures above.
And you mock my pain.
For shame.

Jackass, that is SO funny that you mention that show. Even though it was a nickelodeon show, that show was FUNNY as hell!!!!!

The Stooges and the Dolls touring together. Imagine. That would be fun.
PS After Balls' post I got the picture in my mind of Moe Howard rolling around on broken glass singing I Wanna Be Your Dog as Curley barked the chorus. - That, my friends is entertainment.

In the early to middle 1990s Iggy Pop would make several guest appearances on the Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete and Pete. He played James Mecklenberg, Nona Mecklenberg's father. He also appeared as a Vorta in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Magnificent Ferengi".

Forgot completely about the Poques shows. Shane was vintage...apparently he fell off of the stage two nights before and fucked up his leg and his face. They had to roll his drunk ass onto the stage in a wheelchair. He attempted crutches at one point, but was shaky. The show was fun, except that I was reminded that St. Paddy's day + Drunken Irishmen = Mayhem!
