I'm really enjoying this new show thus far.
For those who don't know...it's another reality/competition show. This time it's amateur, budding film makers competing for a contract with Dreamworks.
The judges are Carrie Fisher, Brett Ratner, and Gary Marshall. The contestants compete in various filmaking challenges each episode, their efforts are judged, and some eliminations are made. So far they've had to pitch a movie idea given a "log line", film and edit a 2.5 minute movie in 24 hours given a log line, and the current challenge is to direct a scene, provided with a script, full set and camera crew, in one hour.
Check it out...good show.

We had mulled this show over for a little while, and ended up giving it a pass. I feel sort of ashamed to say part of the reason is plans to watch the "Pirate" reality show, where 16 contestants live the life of pirates while sailing in a barque looking for a heap of "treasure." That starts this Thursday.
We only have so much patience for these shows.

You should re-consider Tom.
The one thing I've noticed about this show is that the emphasis is clearly on the movie making process and the end product. There have been bits of "filler" drama regarding strife between contestants, but overall this is a very good show and it's fun to sit and critique something we are ALL qualified to critique - FILM!

Check out Sam Friedlander's contribution to this week's show. His 1 minute film is titled "Replication Theory." Funniest of the bunch in my opinion - it's pretty hard to set up a good joke in a minute, but this was pretty good...the replication theory is something we can all relate to. www.thelot.com/contestants/view/?id=13

not a bad show, though that host is horrible. the first time we watched it, i dubbed her the "poor man's eva longoria"
and the elimination episode moved way too slow and has no business being an hour long.....

That's funny Vinny, because I asked my wife if that was "Tony Parker's wife?" I'm not too hip too the latest and greatest in pop-culture, but I thought that was her for sure.
That host seems to have some sort of tourrette's like problem with her hands.

Tom: Did you watch the Pirate show? I watched and I'll continue to do so. I got a big kick out of it, and did you catch that Christian Okoye is one of the contestants? Too funny.

This show is starting to pick up...the movies are getting better and the contestants are starting to show real characteristics that will either endear themselves or make you hate them. There's one douche named Marty Martin who brags that he sets himself apart from the other contestants in that he isn't some aspiring indie film-maker...he wants to make "Spielberg size films"...and his offerings thus far have been nothing but derivative schlock! Here's his latest -- Dance With The Devil (yeah, I haven't seen THAT style and THAT premise a million other times) www.thelot.com/episodes/?ep=8&vd=91

Marty Martin was sent home - apparently America doesn't like smug douchebag film-makers either.
