Rush at the PNC Bank Center in New Jersey Sunday night, on an absolutely sweltering, brutal night to be outside. The sound was infinitely better than the last time I saw Rush there four summers ago. Excellent show, but definitely one for the die-hards, with a lot of songs they rarely play.
Set list: Set 1: Limelight Digital Man Entre Nous Mission Freewill The Main Monkey Business The Larger Bowl Secret Touch Circumstances Between The Wheels Dreamline
Intermission
Set 2: Far Cry Workin' Them Angels Armor And Sword Spindrift The Way The Wind Blows Subdivisions Natural Science Witch Hunt Malignant Narcissism Drum Solo Hope Distant Early Warning The Spirit Of Radio Tom Sawyer

I've seen this on message boards before - people come back from concerts and post the set list. How do you remember all of that?

Usually a source throws it up on a music board or website after the show, and you cop it from there. The source is usually a reviewer, or someone with cause to keep the info. Some people simply call it in to their own voice mails every 4 songs or so, while they remember the order. 9 can tell us his story, though.

Dead-on, Tom. There's no way I'd have remembered the entire set list. Internet review.

I guess in my steady concert-going days I was always too preoccupied with getting fucked up! HAHAHA However I'm guessing the typical Rush concert (as I've never been) would be more conducive to remembering a set list: ....while some of the "concerts" I'd typically attend are not...

I'd say that's a pretty fair guess. I don't think I saw a single fight, which is rare for any gathering of 8,000 or so (or whatever PNC Bank Arts Center holds).

I like how, in the set list, "drum solo" is lost in that lengthy list of songs, while in actuality a Neil Pert drum solo is what.....3/5ths of the entire concert?

I saw The Police at Wrigley Field last week. Solid show. Glad I got to see them, and in a cool setting to boot.

I guess they found their footing, cause after the first show on the tour Andy Summers ripped the band and their performance, implying it was a mistake. Of course, it stemmed from the longtime acrimony from the bands members, and reviews of that show were not THAT bad (although they were shaky)

Yeah, they were really good. Sting had to drop a couple of keys to sing "Every Breath You Take," but that didn't bother me, since that is maybe the most overrated song in history.

The Police with Kanye West? Christ, didn't Sting learn his lesson from that Puff Daddy Biggie Smalls tribute/debacle?

Kanye rhymed some shit about the only Police he wanted in his hood was 'Sting's Police' - sounded really wack, you could feel Giant's Stadium cringe.

How bout the invention of the phone asshole, who still puts letters in a bottle? Fucking fool. Anyone who goes to the ren fair sees Sting, he's the cockstain playing that stupid fucking flute.

Right and one metephor can be interpreted anyway the listener wants, which is more a metaphor than I wrote a letter, put it in a bottle. If you think I'm put in my place cause you showed Cobain can sound dumb in his lyrics compared to fucking Sting, you wasted your time man. No shit Cobain wrote some corny what the fuck does that mean lyrics, but it has more depth than fucking using morse code and using a bottle to mail your letters. And you used a bad example cause in most cases Cobain wrote whatever to sound loike the note or chord he was playing. In essence, he NEVER wrote in lineary terms. His songs never started at point A, gets to B and then ends at C. Sting is a douche. At least he realized he's not some visionary and said fuck it, stick to the niche he made so guys like Justin and John, people who like them can go see them. Other wise he'd still be playing that shit flute no one fucking cared about. One metaphor, decent, the other just silly, just like Sting.

Live Earth at Giants stadium was overall, the worst concert i have ever worked or seen, ever. Stupid fuckin hippy crowd, and the strangest lineup ever. Akon followed by dave matthews and bon jovi? no thanks. and the police sounded like shit that night.

Yep, he's writing words that match the music, okay. There is no meaning behind this, huh. NO A, to B, to C? (....awaiting long-winded, incoherent, illogical come back.) By the way do you know what key he's singing in, and what 'notes' the band is playing, here? Do you anything about music? Is there only one 'note' per word?
You know, I don't even really like the police that much, but you are such a monumental imbecile it is a wonder you walk upright. You actually believe Sting is singing about Morse Code?? Putting letters in bottles??
You name the band, I'll find a stupid lyric to match. Zep? Hendrix? Lennon? who else do you like?
Your single stupidest post since your Penn Station encounter. Are you really this dumb?
Curt Nobrain had such vision he fixed himself a Buckshot Breakfast.....you should have such vision, Little-brain James.
And watch what you say, the feds are monitoring your keystrokes!

Holy shit, you're going by one single verse. I was talking about an entire song. And seeing as I play guitar and write my own shit I think I know enough about music. Sorry you love Sting and I offended you're precious Police. That's cool if you think Nirvana sucks, and I'm not saying they're the best, there are better bands, but my feeling is the Police is not one of those bands. But don't come at me like I don't shit, or at the very least like I don't know what i'm talking about when it comes to fucking Nirvana songs. I'm proud of you that you can figure out a fucking rhyme scheme, I learned that in pre school. I was referring to an actual entire song, but I can't expect you to know what I mean when you don't read my post, much like I did with your last one. I'm talking music and you're talking feds, um what? Arguing with you is as redundant as bashing my head into a wall. Good day sir.

Look, if you two are gonna argue about "deep" "intelligent" "genius" lyrycists...look no further than the first-ballot Rock N Roll HOFer songwriting team of Leonard Phillips, Stan Lee, and Chuck Wagon of The Dickies. Listen for yourselves: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PQucFxC2W8

Nah, man, let's get things straight for the final time...I didn't come on here praising the Police - I said they sucked at the Live Earth show, others talked about liking the band and buying tickets to see them, but you wouldn't have that, you found a way to try to diss by saying: LA LA LA sending out an sos.....blech. Who still uses morse code? Douchebag sting. He has a message in a bottle, does he? How bout the invention of the phone asshole, who still puts letters in a bottle? Fucking fool. Anyone who goes to the ren fair sees Sting, he's the cockstain playing that stupid fucking flute. You decided to show open anger at A SINGLE SONG, and hostility to the Police. You singled out lyrics and somehow totally failed to understand their meaning. That's not coming from me, your unedited words above prove that. In defense of me pointing out your idiocy, you showed a marked lack of knowledge about lyricism, music theory, and simple songwriting and for some reason assumed I shared your ignorance. You also responded by taking a couple more pot shots at John and Justin for even liking the band; No shit Cobain wrote some corny what the fuck does that mean lyrics, but it has more depth than fucking using morse code and using a bottle to mail your letters. You were AGAIN exposed as an imbecile with no musical skills or knowledge over this retarded assertion; ...in most cases Cobain wrote whatever to sound loike the note or chord he was playing. In essence, he NEVER wrote in lineary terms. His songs never started at point A, gets to B and then ends at C. Cobain's own words disprove your point. Finally you could only offer an utterly moronic, non sensical final response in which you flail about trying attack me while attempting to retract your original rant by saying; ...there are better bands, but my feeling is the Police is not one of those bands. Which you could have said in the first place instead of trying to be a bigshot and dissing a band other people on this thread expressed a like for, and you don't. It's quite clear by my words I don't believe the Police are 'prescious.' It's also clear you have a latent homosexual crush on Kurt Cobain judging by the way you became unglued when I dissed him. It's one thing to be young and stupid, but you're not so young anymore, so your running out of excuses. Please, you don't even want to get me started, you won't come out on top. You wanna start things by making stupid uninfomed comments, expect to be called on your own words. Good Night Junior.
