Well, today at 1:01 it becomes official, and after 2 years on haitus, oldies returns to NYC radio on 101.1 WCBS. Its hit the road JACK. They are teasing it right now with old year-by-year snippets and songbites. I am listening.
I am happy about this, cause at work I am a flipper, and oldies (well, actually its going to be the classic hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s now) is a good work listen. Relaxing, non-offensive to anyone, and they put me in a good mood. Good stuff!

I was glad to hear this. I was forced to listen to alot of CBS FM as a child and it gave me a really good appreciation for motown and shit like that, while most kids were listening to Debbie Gibson and New Kids on z-100 and power 95. I kinda missed 101.1.

This is truly the stuff you can "sing along to." I am having a grand time of it today at work. Been playing it all day. They mixed the 80s stuff in with ease, its not a bad fit. Seriously, this stuff just puts me in a good mood.

I was glad to hear this. I was forced to listen to alot of CBS FM as a child and it gave me a really good appreciation for motown and shit like that. I had my share of WCBS and Lite-FM listening in my youth. I find it to be a tad traumatic that music that I jammed to in high school and junior high can be found on the oldies station.

Brucie wont be back fulltime, but he has done promos for the station, along with a host of alum. They bought back a lot of regulars to man shifts, from Dan Taylor to Broadway Bill Lee and Joe Causi. As to Pat St John, heard a bit of him over the weekend - I once spent a morning in the studio with he and his morning team back in the WNEW days. I won a contest - 100 scratch-off lottery tickets which were to be scratched off on the air.
They put headphones on me at the beginning of the show, made me comfortable, and let me do my thing. I was even breaking into traffic reports to call winners. I ended up sharing banter about eateries, drinking, and all other kinds of things by the end of the show. What a fun time, and a nice guy he was to me.

Last I heard Pat St. John, he had a show on Sirius, just like a lot of those other jocks. I figured Dan Taylor would be a shoo-in to return. Wonder if Dandy Dan Daniel and Dan Ingram, or any other of the Good Guys will be back,

Dan Daniel, I had read, just got a gig on a Jersey station. Ingrams name I have not heard through all this. St John was doing weekends at the Q, while keeping his Sirius show. I always found him a good listen, although Dana hates him cause whenever she hears him he is busy thanking everyone for listening, and really kissing listener and New York as a whole, ass.
Dan Taylor has the coveted morning gig. Even Mr G is back on board, doing the weather reads and inane banter back and forth.

They stream. They constantly shout out people listening in Florida, Texas, etc.
No word on 50s specialty shows or anything - they call themselves the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s now....and I surely have not heard anything 50s. In fact, I hear the playlist actually starts from 1964 onward.
