I received an email message from a buddy about a reunion show in Echo Park this weekend to celebrate one of the places that I used to haunt on a semi-regular basis (a few nights a week): The Masque Here is a link to an article in the L.A. Weekly. www.laweekly.com/music/music/the-basement-photos/17621/BTW: The article was written by Falling James, of the band Leaving Trains. He was briefly married to Courtney Love years before there was such a thing as Curt Cobain. I could start an entirely new thread about the interesting and completely unexpected times that I have crossed paths with Falling James out side of punk rock venues. Here's one: A gas station in the middle of the desert. I was gassing up when a white club van rolls in filled with people. Falling James gets out of the drivers seat, wearing a filty, dirty, wedding dress. There was a three day growth of beard poking through his pancake makeup. I said, "Hey James, what's up?" He says, "Not much. On the way to work."

Speaking of......Did you get a chance to see the biopic about Darby with Shane West? And I hear West is touring with a semi-reunited Germs ?!?
Also, this month's SPIN (I think) is a 'Class of '77' issue with reunions of the London/NY/ and LA scenes. Don Bolles says some funny shit in it too. Look for it. It's got Johnny Rotten picking his nose on the cover.

I'm pretty sure that movie still has yet to be released.

Is it one of yours?
IMDB said 7/07.

I'm very glad it's not one of ours. Quick research indicates that the film doesn't have any distribution and never was released in July (it did premiere at the L.A. Film Festival in June).

From what I saw of the extended trailers, it looks horrible. That Philips chick as Lorna? Puh-leeeze.
I'm one of the few people that thought that Darby was an asshole, so I'm hardly the one to go see a movie about him. I like(d) his band, and liked the scene around his band, but he was an asshole in my opinion.
I was Southbay (The Last, Descendents, Black Flag, Red Kross, etc...) and thought the Valley Punks were mostly ass cocks anyway.
He was for real, but I just wasn't a fan.

I always thought Darby Crash was a douchebag. I was a Weirdos, Screamers guy more than a Germs guy....although Richie Dagger is one of the coolest songs EVER and one of the most fun to sing along in the car too.
