Fucking fantastic. Season 2 was fucking great as well, though not based off of the novel like seson one. It's just really hard to put into words how good this show is, acting, writing, monolouges/narrating, everything adds up into one crazy story. When the show is on, I really find myself breathing less, like I hold my breath most of each episode not to miss anything, it's one of the most suspensful, nerve racking shows ever. I loved both seasons, and hope to god the strike doesn't fuck with season 3.

Eh...it's ok. The only reason it could be better is if Deb got naked every once in a while.

We just started taping these on CBS, Sundays at 10 (yeah, I know...edited versions, blah blah)
I am cool with it, but its for Dana, who has been pestered to watch. If we like it enough, we will get the DVDs instead. If we dont like it, we stop watching.

This show bored me. I tapped out in Season One after about 4 episodes on Showtime.

This show bored me. I tapped out in Season One after about 4 episodes on Showtime. I'm with Jackass. Me and Vin tuned out after one or two episodes. It just wasn't compelling enough and what's his face annoys me. He annoyed me on Six Feet Under and it didn't get any better.

Its funny, we were not going in with tremendously high hopes (Dana was pretty much resigned to watching cause people were annoying her to do so) - reading your reviews has me figuring this wont last. We intentionally did not watch the first one till I had the second one also taped, so we could do a "doubleheader" - 2 episodes would be enough for us to make a call on it....just 1 would not really cut it.

Comeplete blasphemy. I understand most people are fans or the Wire and Brotherhood etc. but Dexter is one of the best shows out now. I'm with CBC guy, season two kicks ass way more than one(perhaps a reason for that being season one is based off the book while two is a different approach all together). There were parts of season one that did drag, especially early on, but it kicks into lightspeed around the 6th or 7th episode and is fucking awesome after that.
Season two was honetsly some of the best tv I've ever seen. From the first episode(which picks up hours after the season one finale)to the last it was mass insanity, in a good way. I would encourage anyone to seriously stick it out in season one just cause season two is so much better and without one, two makes little sense(duh).
I swear this is all just about Dexter and not my well known obsession with showtime shows like the Tudors. I can agree with all the Tudors reviewson here, I'm just a history fan even if hollywood adds more drama to it. But I'd have to put Dexter far and away better than mostly everything else on tv. This is from a guy whos day consists if 17 hours a day tv, cbs or not, Dexter is worth the hour(except for me I own the season).

That's odd....seems to be hit or miss with this crowd. I find the show outstanding. Although I was a captive audience, watching all of season 1 and 2 on the flights to and from Japan.
I'm on board for for season 3 although I have the last 3 episodes sitting on my Tivo because I won't watch them out of order and I need to somehow get my hands on the beginning episodes of Season 3.

The best shows on Showtime are, in order:
1) BROTHERHOOD
2) malarky!
3) Californication
Everything else blows.

Uh, Weeds is by far the best show on Showtime. Brotherhood is second!

I gotta put Califonrication up there too, I was a big fan of that show. I like weeds but I thought the earlier seasons were better. Love Brotherhood and malarky especially, but Dexter is the best show on TV, let alone showtime, in my opinion. But I totally forgot about Californication so now I'm torn between the two.

Ok....2 episodes in, and we are sold for now. We like the show, but we have a ways to go, sure. I know the "backstory" but I dont know how any of this unfolds, or where its going. So thats an added bonus for me. Dana read the book, was not sure how it would translate, but we are both satisfied with the show so far.
