Hey, wanna feel old? I still remember when DAD was drafted - by the Yankees!
Report: Elway's son commits to playing for Arizona State
DENVER (AP) -- Jack Elway, Hall of Famer John Elway's quarterback son, has verbally committed to play for Arizona State, the Rocky Mountain News reported Saturday.
The younger Elway has thrown for 1,677 yards and 21 touchdowns this season at Cherry Creek High School in Denver. He visited Arizona State last weekend, watching the unbeaten Sun Devils beat Washington.
John Elway, who was an All-American at Stanford before helping the Denver Broncos to two Super Bowl titles, is serving as Cherry Creek's quarterbacks coach.
Cherry Creek coach Greg Critchett said he hasn't spoken with his quarterback about his college commitment, but had heard from players and coaches that he had chosen Arizona State.
"He'll be great there," Critchett said. "His style is perfect for them. He can run and move around in the pocket. He's one of those kids where, even if you didn't know his last name, you'd say, 'That's a kid I want on my team."'
Arizona State coach Dennis Erickson was offensive coordinator for Jack Elway Sr., John's father, at San Jose State from 1979 to 1981.

Lloyd Carr has announced his retirement from the head coaching position at the University of Michigan, effective at season's end.

Thanks for producing my favorite college football moment thus far. Happy trails. Ok, who thinks Les Miles will be a distraction for LSU?

I just learned that when Paul Hornig won the Heisman, the Irish were 2-8. What the fuck? How do you win a Heisman on a 2-8 team?

Major carnage in the BCS.
At this point, I have to believe, of the big 3 talked about all pre-season (OSU, USC, FLA), Ohio State should feel good about their chances to play for a title at the end of the season....after all they DIDN'T lose to an unranked opponent.

I figured that it was easier to edit the title of this thread than to start a new one.
So Florida is now #4 on the BCS. Alabama is #1 and Texas Tech and Texas are 2 and 3, with Oklahoma coming in at 5.
My question is--does Florida control its own destiny yet? They finally have their shot at Alabama on December 6.
Let's say Alabama and Florida don't lose until they play each other.
First--Texas Tech plays Oklahoma this week. 2 v. 5. That's a pretty big match up. Would an Oklahoma victory allow them to jump over Texas and Florida?
Second--let's say Texas Tech wins that match up and Texas and Texas Tech win out. If Florida beats Alabama, would Florida jump over Texas?
Would the BCS have a national championship game that would be a rematch when you would have a team that just beat a #1 team, and only lost a game due to a missed extra point, waiting?

Tom usually does the other sports, but I agree a Florida Gators tribute is in order.
