Ring of Honor's promise to deliver a huge announcement on the company website on Sunday has led Newsday writer Alfonso Castillo to speculate that it could pertain to a television deal. Castillo recalls ROH owner Cary Silkin telling him a few weeks ago that he's optimistic regarding a new television deal. See, here's my take. The writing is on the wall. There is only so far you can go as a DVD-marketed company. The PPV experiment failed, from all accounts, and for many reasons.
Now, from my own standpoint. I do not watch ROH. Its a matter of time and convenience, pretty much. I watch way too much wrestling as is, and its all over the place. Free tv, and my tape collection. I dont feel like expanding, although I watch SHIMMER, which some will cite as a ROH offshoot. But where ROH puts out a dozen or more PPVs a year, SHIMMER puts out a small handful.
So, that said - if ROH goes to regular TV - guess what! I watch. I will check it out. At times I do want to check it out, I love all wrestling. But the way the product is presented now, no dice.
ROH should be able to find SOME TV. I mean, Hell, "Chickfight" is shown on MavTV almost daily. But its not first run, its old tapes. But ROH, if they can get product produced / together - well, the outlets are there.
And I bet there are a heap of folks like me who would give them a shot. I am not interested in doing so under the current format / setup, however.

Id end up watching both. Thing with ECW is - and there are a lot of detractors on this very board of that promotion who choose not to watch - at the least DVR it, and zip through and watch what you want. It may only take you 10 minutes to get through the whole hour. With these shows on free TV, and most of us having DVR or TIVO, no excuse not to just record and watch what you want out of it.

I would give it a try with TIVO...Geez between Raw, ECW, Smackdown, TNA and whatever ESPN Classic is offering, I hardly have time for 24/7 anymore......

My 24/7 viewing has taken a tumble, and I have a whole pile of videotapes of things like the PPVs and specials that I will end up taking years to watch. As to the ESPN Classic fare, that run is supposed to end in June.

LOL @ "the big announcement" being a "33% off sale" on their website. Considering ROH is running merch sales on the website 20 days out of every 30, its much ado about nothing, and the fanbase is apparently pretty pissed this time around at what is being considered a swerve to drive traffic to said site.
