People are just using this as an excuse not to go to work, especially in the schools..

That was one of Dave's whiny reasons that we shouldn't go... swine flu at the stadium. I told him to stop being a pussy & we drove in so I wouldn't hear his paranoid bitching about swine flu on the trains... (so, yes, we were there.) He wouldn't approach the beachers, because I think swine flu flourishes in the rain...

I sometimes tell wrong numbers that the person they are calling is dead. Anybody remember Danny DeVito in "Ruthless People" when somebody called looking for Debbie and he said that she's busy giving him a BJ & can't come to the phone?

Well, I'm getting angry about the rental ads again... "reduced! won't last!" Are you kidding? If the place is so great, then why'd you have to lower the price??? OK, who's going to pay $2500/mo to live in Wyandanch??? I don't care how shiny new the place is... newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/abo/1159125587.htmlYou people are smoking WHAT? (and clearly are seeking a tenant to finance the habit...) $3000/mo for an APARTMENT in a house... it's not even the whole house, only 1 bath, no washer/dryer... who would want this place for $1500??? newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/abo/1158931765.htmlAnd you toolboxes are seeking a "normal family" to rent your shithole in shitville? Maybe you haven't gotten someone "normal" to respond to your posting because you come across like an illiterate retard that a "normal" person would be afraid to do business with... or maybe your house is listed $400 over market value for what is CLEARLY a shitty area, if the only interest you are getting is from welfare recipients. newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/abo/1158672369.htmlI bet this is the same douche, reposting... it is SO damned annoying to wade through page after page of CRAP reposts... same shit, not being rented because it is way overpriced or not fit for rats & roaches to inhabit... newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/abo/1159702540.html

Not really... I was only in my last place for a year, but I was under a time crunch to move FAR out of my comfort zone. I was not planning to stay there, but I needed some time to test out this godforsaken island on my own before I could decide if I was OK with being stuck in Suffolk County, long term. [Verdict: Long Island sucks, but life is full of compromises. I'm just going to have to get 10 times more career motivated in order get myself that co-op in the city to stay sane.]
We have been here for 2 years, and we might have to stay another year if we don't find the right place. There are a bunch of reasons that we want to move, starting with the fact that our 4-legged children are not welcome here and I'm afraid we might get caught by the landlord.

UGH! My daughter now has the most popular little girl name in the country.
When we named her there were a few things behind it. It was a nice, old-fashioned name. It was rare, there were very few Emma's running around. While we were by no means trendsetters, we did not want to have our daughter sharing her name with every other girl walking around.
Disaster struck when Jennifer Aniston's dopey character on friends picked "Emma" as her daughters name. It spun out of control from there.
And now, bingo - # 1 name for newborn girls.
Emma overtakes Emily as top baby name for girls WASHINGTON – Move over, baby Emily. Emma is the new top name among baby girls, ending Emily's 12-year reign.
Jacob remained king among the boys in 2008, his 10th straight year at the top, the Social Security Administration said Friday.
Barack may have been the man of the year in 2008, as Obama won the presidency, but he's still behind Elvis. Barack didn't crack the top 1,000, though he did move up a record 10,126 spots, to No. 2,409. Elvis is still in the building, but he fell from 673 to 713.
Biblical names dominate the top choices for boys while popular culture appears to have influenced some of the girls' names.
Emma debuted in the top 10 in 2002, the same year that Jennifer Aniston's character on "Friends" gave the name to her TV show baby. In the latest lineup, Emma was followed by Isabella, Emily, Madison and Ava.
The top five boys names remained unchanged from 2007. Jacob was followed by Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel.
Little else changed among the top 10 for either sex. Alexander joined the top 10 at No. 6, while Andrew dropped out. Among the girls, Chloe inched her way up to No. 10 while Hannah dropped out.
"There's something about naming a child that's a very existential statement," said Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue. "As you read through this you see the influence of recent immigration, religion, popular culture. Sometimes, it's just people who are admired."
The Social Security Administration started compiling name lists in 1997. The agency offers lists of baby names dating to 1880.
New girl names in the top 1,000 included Isla (623), Mareli (718), Milagros (731), Dayami (750) and Nylah (821).
Debuting among the boys were Aaden (343), Chace (655), Marley (764) Kash (779) and Kymani (836). Beckham debuted at 893, perhaps a nod to the British soccer star, David Beckham, who now plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Jennifer Aniston picked the name Emma before you did. Emma on Friends was born May 2002. Emma Brown was born in February 2003.
That said, I think that the name Emma goes much better with the last name Brown than it does with Gellar.

Ok, revisiting this with Dana I now know what went on here. We came up with the name, congratulated ourselves, and were very excited, and found out that there was this stinking Emma on Friends. Being neither of us watched - no cared - for the show, we had no idea of this. At that point, we were not going to change the name.
I believe if we saw what was happening, history may have changed and my daughter may have had a different monicker.

I'm a total girl, complete with baby names I've been carrying around since I was a child.
it's ok though, my nephew was named after a character from Sex & The City.

STILL angry... why would you post your house for rent without stating where it is??? Don't make me click on "3 Br house for rent ($1600)" and make me read all of your useless words to get to Connetquot Schools... and still you have not identified the town on this 110 mile long island, but because *I* have some knowledge of the area, I can deduce that it's somewhere around Islip/Islip Terrace... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!~!!!!!

With Jose Reyes status up in the air, i needed a SS for next week, as I don't carry a backup for SS. So I traded my #9 starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey (that's not a joke, I really do have 8 pitchers I rank ahead of Pelfrey) for a SS I hope to never use, Rafael Furcal. Furcal is hitting .245. 2 people have voted on this trade so far, and both have objected to it. I think if I traded someone a quarter in this league, and got back 2 dimes and a nickel, people would object to it

I have some inside knowledge that some members of the league don't believe in trades, no matter what the proposal is... and to make you feel a little better, the trades that HAVE gone through in your league would NEVER have made it through in TJ's league... and NO way would Pelfry for Furcal go though (WITHOUT it being known that it is a last place team giving up a starting-quality SS for a guy YOU proclaimed is a #8 SP)...
Speaking of baseball, what a shit-ass day. I can't even get 5 points out of 3 SP AND the Yankees lost. Very gay.

guys I have ranked ahead of pelfrey:
Jake Peavy, Chad Billingsly, Eric Bedard, Javy Vazquez, AJ Burnett, Matt Cain, Jordan Zimmerman (who strikes out twice as many guys per IP) and David Price. When tommy hanson gets the call up, he too will be ranked ahead of Pelfrey.
As for Dave, i'm well aware of his contempt for the trade process. I could offer him hanley ramirez for ramiro pena, and he would reject it citing Pena as a breakout candidate, and Hanley might get hurt...Just cause you don't like to (read..afraid to) make trades doesnt mean you should object to every trade that comes up for a vote

You are not making a good case here... you are STATING that you want to dump a shit-ass pitcher to steal a 2nd tier SS off a last place team. People SHOULD block that. Contenders should not be allowed to take advantage of people whose teams suck.
Personally, I don't like these pitcher-for-hitter deals in your league, because they are not equitable. Despite Dave's assertion that pitching rules your league, seems to me that a good hitter seems to score more points than great pitchers, in most weeks.

The point is that he's a decent pitcher, but i don't need him. So I traded him for a need: a healthy SS. I have Reyes, hopefully I never need Furcal. It's moot now anyway, as I claimed the resurgent Alexei Ramirez to be my starter while Reyes is questionable. And Dave is right. A good batter can get 500 points or moe on a year, while a great pitcher can get only 250. However, a bad pitcher can hit you with a -11, while a very good pitcher can get you 5 or 6 even in a loss. If a batter goes 0-30 on the week, he gets a 0. But if a pitcher gets torched twice, he can hang a -20 on your team. But Dave, he overdoes it with the pitching. Take sit to the extreme

Last Friday, I was informed that there would be an addition to my department. This change can be considered a demotion on my end.
I've lost the autonomy and various decision making that came with my job because this person came along. There is an extra layer of reporting that I simply detest. The directive is that "everything" goes through her; if I need a write-up from somebody, that person has to through her. Hell, I needed to scan somebody's professional license for a submission that I'm preparing; he had to leave his office, walk past my desk and go to hers to pass his license on for me to scan. C'mon, WTF? What's next...asking permission to use the can?
I could go on but internet use is being monitored.
I'm not getting the warm and fuzzies about it due to the timing with my return from maternity leave. It's obvious that they decided to make this move before I went back to work.

Check this out, folks. This is the age of short-attention spans and inattentiveness that we are living in. This is a correspondence between ME and a HIGH LEVEL I.T. manager:
Chris,
Can you send me the TFS presentation you gave at the GADS Quarterly Meeting?
*****************
I didn’t have anything other than speaking notes (which I believe are gone, from when my hard-drive conked out) and then I demo’d a TFS deployment.
I had no power point presentation.
Henry had a power point presentation when we were still in the POC phase of the TFS project.
Chris
*****************
I’m pretty sure there was a PPT. Henry-can you look for it? I need it before tomorrow – sorry for the urgency.
Chris-for Jeff did you just use notes and if so, can you send those over?
*****************
Are you kidding me? Are people really this dense?

One of the rules I live by is that teams that I play for take priority over teams I watch. So when I had a softball game tonight, I got rid of my Yankee tickets.
The bastards on the other team forfeited today. Dickheads.

Serves you right. You should hold on to tickets on days you have a match, in case. At worst, you eat a 12 dollar ticket. Now you're shut out with no game to go to.

Couple of things that got my goat today.
I never realized how anal I am about what seat I get on the morning train, until I dont get it. I get on an empty train, Westbury is first stop. Train pulls in and Im usually first in the door, and I head to the 3rd row in to the right, seat by the window, 3-seater.
So today the train has lesser cars or some crap, and the door is not by me when it stops. Some jerk who just showed up when the train rolled in beats me to the door, and with like 60 rows to choose from on both sides he takes my exact row and exact seat. I audibly cursed, Im sure he and others had no idea what that was about. i stewed the entire ride in, ruined my whole morning. Then I get here, and I got this cool new NASCAR desk calendar, which promised daily pics of full-fledged NASCAR action in color. First couple of days had some nice track panoramas with cool cars zipping around. So today I pull January 5th, and there is a headshot of freakin' Kasey Kahne, which looks like it came out of an issue of GQ. You cant even tell he's a racecar driver, all it is is his cutesy head. So anyone comes by thinks I got some sort of BlueBoy calander or something.
It took all of the first week for them to stiff me with this desk calander!

I'm with you on the train. When I take the PATH, I always want either an end seat (so I'm only next to one dill hole and not two) or, if I'm standing, the spot between the door and the seats (perfect for reading the paper). It always got the morning off to a bad start if I got neither.

It's funny how little things make you mad. When you have a routine, it's your routine. Part of my routine is going to the subway, and being in the same spot. I like to be next to one of the metal beams, so I don't get bumped when the train going the other direction comes, and assholes have to get by.
Anyway, I've stood in the same spot for several years now, and about a month or so ago, some indian dude starts showing up. He doesn't quite steal my spot, but comes fairly close--like 3-5 feet away, so when I go there, I'm closer than I want to be to this guy, and don't have the space I once enjoyed.
Worse, he has an Ipod, that blasts that stereotypical indian music that can't really be done justice in a wall post.
I hate this guy, but I haven't seen him yet in 2010.
