I'm not bashging you went to a ceremony, that's fine, if I had time to stop over at ground zero there I would have yesterday. All my point was this shit gets exploited and turned into this big money making, fear inducing day. I think it's great you went to a ceremony, and if you read my post again I said that. In my mind I don't need to look at a calendar just to remember what happened. So I'm not going to do anythign differently on any 9/11. I've said this time and time again, but you and everyione else has subjective reading and just looks to jump down my throat. It's one thign to never forget, but why be reminded by centering an entire day just to relive what happened 5 years ago. You don't want to move on, that's great your call. I was merely pointing out how I don't understand anyone saying that, cause you aren't the first. you like feeling sad, hey yesterday was fucking christmas for you. Me, I get angry on 9/11, I don't want to feel all mournful, I fel hatred towardfs what happened, I don't need the day to be september 11 just to feel remorce and sadness. That's all my point was, sorry you didn't get it. So if you think I attacked you, re read it aagin, mahbe three times, cause I'm not apologizing for shit.

James, I am biting my tongue here, as too not tarnish this thread. This is by far your most offensive post, which is really saying something, because you post lots of comments that offend.
You may have been impacted by the events of 9-11-01, but you were a school kid, 50 miles east of what was going on. You weren't in the city that day and you didn't live it. You can live the day as if it is any other day, because you have no physical, tactile memories of your own experience.
Please cease your prattlings about people forgetting Katrina, because in case you were too drunk/stoned to notice, there was a great deal of hoopla 2 weeks ago, for the 1st anniversary of the largest natural disaster on American soil.
AND FINALLY, please, please, please keep the anti-American rhetoric of Rage Against the Machine away from non-music discussions with the adults. If you need to quote someone left of center regarding freedom, try John F. Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ghandi, Thoreau, Jesse Jackson, Nelson Mandella, Noam Chomsky or anyone who has more claim to fame than simply hating on the establishment.

Don't blame me for hating you when every other word out of your mouth to me is hatred, even if i didnt say a thing to you. Also when you put word in my mouth like abve, I never said I lived it, not once. But keep thinking you got me pegged.

True or false, New Yorkers/Americans care more about what happened here than elsewhere?
And I'm not saying it should be different, but there are bigger more disatrious situations that heppen all over the world that get no attention, maybe for a day, anywhere else. You say 9/11 didn;t affect me like poeple in the city, granted, but that's different than you and New Orleans? And by the way, in 6 months New York was cleaned up, how ling has it been for New Orleans? Americans care about ne thng, America, after something happens to it. When the west coast and eastern seaboard get nailed with tsunamis, and no one else, no country gives a fuck to help us, then you'll understnd my point. And yes, a tsunami will happen, it's actually over due. And it's not stoned or drunk thinking, it's watching the discovery channel.

When I was your age, I thought I knew it all, but you know what? I didn't know fucking shit. Same with you, but you are a natural born retard, so it's even worse.
Someday you'll realize there is more to life than going to concerts & rolling fatties. loser

After all that shit I talked about the stupid fuck...I do agree about Katrina.
It's basically racist. If Katrina hit NYC, they would have that city built back. I can't say I blame the US 100% however. That n!gger mayor of NO is a fucking piece of shit. If he's the "voice" of that city, then just flatten the whole fucking thing. It's unfortunate that New Orleans was basically a wasteland for uneducated, 5th generation welfare blackies that expect the government to dress them, feed them, support them, heal them, etc etc etc, but this is the USA & New O welfare nigs & NYC rich white people should be treated equally. That's what makes it the USA.

Sorry but I'm not uneducated in this shit. If some of you took what I said offensivly I apologize, but thta's my anger on the situation wheather you all agree or not. Maybe instead of shitting on me you could enlighten me so I wouldn't have to lash out.

Comparing the cleanup of NOLA to the cleanup of Ground Zero is apples and oranges...
On 9-11, essentially 16 acres imploded upon itself in a relatively self-contained area. The reason that the cleanup and new construction took as long as it did was the long rescue and recover phase, where the rubble was systematically sifted through in order to find anything to give people closure.
Over 80% of New Orleans was under water... New Orleans — Area: 468 SQ KM 1 square kilometer = 247.105381 acres Over 92,516 acres were flooded by Katrina, in New Orleans alone, and this does not take into account the damage to the levees themselves that needs to be repaired, or other storm damage, such as wind, which impacted areas that were not flooded. I think it is pretty amazing that people are back in the 9th Ward, a year later.
I'd not discount how much the rest of the country cares about the Gulf Coast, as we [collectively referring to anyone outside the affected region] sent and are STILL sending billions of dollars of aid, tons of goods and volunteers to New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

Some FACTS:
-If New Orleans was populated by mostly white collar white people, the cleanup & recovery would be further along.
-If mostly white people had died, we would have a similar tribute as 9/11. Does anyone even know how many people died? On the reverse side - EVERYONE knows around 3000 people died in NYC. Hell, some know the EXACT #.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but those are facts. Hell, I value the life of a hard working NYer over a fucking 5th generation piece of smelly shit New Orleans native. Sad but true.

Also, a lot of people abandoned New Orleans, and have gone on record as saying they will never return. There is legit question if certain areas should be repopulated to any great extent at all. James, if its such an issue with you, grab a hammer and some sanding equipment, and head on down there. All I know is the American public has been VERY generous with donations towards that devestated area.

OK, I admit it, I'm a "bandwagon patriot," supporting the capitalist pigs. I shelled out a whole $4.50 for a new enamel lapel flag pin, when I got up to the Bronx on the night of the first game back after 9-11, and I realized that I left my other pin on my jacket, at home. I've only been proudly wearing such a pin for certain occasions for well over 25 years, daily during the first Desert Storm, and daily for the first year following 9-11. I must be a fake, because I moved in July and didn't unpack my pins (or most of my other jewelry) until this week.

Laura I never said you, I said other people. You think it's right that people were selling bootleg shirts and getting money that never went anywere but in their pocket on the street afterwards? But don't answer that, just think it's always about you.
Wheather you want to be different or not, you can't igonre the fact that after 9/11 a lot more flags were on the front lawns, more and more mini flags were on cars. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it always takes a tragedy for people to think as one and want to make change. People are to content not doing anything untill it 's too late.

The difference is NOT that they were black, it is that we knew exactly who was missing, immediately after the towers fell. We will not and can not get a completely accurate count of casualties from Katrina because there are unidentified bodies, as well as people who are unaccounted for... six months ago, the dealth toll was reported as "likely higher than 1,300" but how can we ever count the people who were simply washed away, and not reported missing? www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11281267/

So they deserve less help the NYC because bodisd are unidentified for? There were firefighters only determined because of finger prints, they only found a finger and found out by that. Probably never be found, their bodeis were either incinerated then or decomposed now. Bottom line is because NY is one of the biggest financial capitals of the US they get the special treatment where other parts of the country are deemed unimportant and not worthy of the help say a NY, LA or Chicago would get.

The lives of the welfare scum down there is valued less than the NYC white collar population. I'm not saying I don't view it the same, but that's how it is. I'd rather $ went to NYC cleanup, than supporting the welfare scum in New O & it is. It's racist & wrong, but I see why it's done. My only issue with it is that it goes against everything the United States stands for.

I really don't see how it's not American.
One site of a disaster is populated by poor people who don't have the means to rebuild.
The other site is owned by a billionaire who does have the means (and financial backing) to rebuild.
And wait a minute - didn't the cleanup of the WTC take like 8 months or so anyway???
