We don't get together to watch the playoffs anymore, because (as was alluded to in another thread) we're all lazy, jaded assholes. So I'm not expecting much positive to come out of this thread, but it would be nice if the lot of you joined me for the Yankees road games. I'll be watching at:
Manitoba's
99 Ave. B (at 7th Street)
New York, NY 10009
The reasons for this venue are fourfold:
1) They have HDTV.
*Every bar and restaurant in this city has speant thousands of dollars on beautiful, big flat-screen televisions. And %99 of these bars, as a result of (I assume) a complete lack of knowledge about how high-definition works, still show a standard-definition picture, stretched into an incorrect and ugly aspect ratio. I'm not going to a bar where the picture will be less than pristine. (That Time Warner Cable still doesn't have TBSHD is a whole 'nother issue that will hopefully be resolved in time.)
2) The drinks are cheap.
*There really isn't ever a reason to pay more than $5 for well drinks. Nor reason to ever go to a place that doesn't give buybacks.
3) The bar isn't populated by douchebags.
*I don't need Joe Date Rapist trying to relive his glory days, singing along to Bon Jovi and spilling beer on me whilst I'm trying to enjoy some baseball.
4) Handsom Dick Manitoba is a huge Yankees fan.
*Thus, I'd rather give him my money.

Here's my endorsement. If I was to watch the playoff games with the group anywhere, it would be this shindig.
As it stands, though, I'll be on the couch. Something about playoff games ending close to midnight and living in Long Island and not in the city near these bars that puts this stuff out of the question, but thanks for the invite!

Manitoba's, huh i was just listing to some dictators last night. sounds good i've been thinkin bout checking out that joint never made it down there it being way the fuck down there but i'd be down to watch the games there. Handsome Dick is a big wrestling fan, i might be able to get him to throw on some classic NWA after the games

Unfortunately, I will not be in attendance at 'Tobas on Thursday as the Yankees kick off their postseason campaign. I hope you will all manage to carry on without me.
I will be in the house, as the kids say, for all other nighttime 2007 Yankees road playoff games.

Not Tuesday, Domi, THURSDAY ... remember the "new and improved" MLB playoff schedule takes effect this year... games times have yet to be announced, but see below for the division series dates as announced on MLB.com
(Although, I am confused, because Michael Kay just said game 1 would be 8pm Tuesday on YES???)
Thursday the Yankees should be primetime for the east coast, but we could get the 4pm shaft because there's 2 NL games...
TBS has all the games, so I'm guessing that on Wed, the Arizona game will be primetime for the west, the Red Sox will get the 8pm EST and the lesser NL game will be at 4pm... Friday either the Yankees or the Red Sox get the 4pm shaft & I'm guessing that Sunday will be a 4pm start at the stadium, unless it is an elimination game, with Giants v Jets being at 1pm...
