Sometimes you need an asshole to talk sense to bigger assholes. Still doesn't make the guy less of an asshole. And it still doesn't change the offensiveness of putting a mosque in the shadow of ground zero.
And notice the difference in the two cultures.
Some moron wants to build a mosque at ground zero and those with common sense ask him to move it slightly. Others call them racists and Islamophobes because they can't see how it's reasonable to be offended by a mosque in that particular spot.
Some jackass wants to burn the Koran and Muslims around the world start burning flags, chanting death to America, and Americans overseas have to be put on special alert while people are talking about how this endangers US soldiers.
And people wonder why Muslims are hated so much.

Why shouldn't he build a community center with a prayer space NEAR Ground Zero?
It's not even a Mosque. I can post a cross up by my garbage cans and say it's a church, but it's really not a church.
There's been a Mosque by ground zero FOR DECADES. No one cares.
There's a prayer space AT THE FUCKING PENTAGON, the same Pentagon which was also hit in 9/11, and no one cared.
It's not the Park51 that's being targeted, it's pretty much EVERY Mosque planned on being built as of late. It's a problem across the country, and it's a racist agenda being spread by the RIGHT.
Why? Because ALL REPUBLICANS ARE FAGGOTS AND RACISTS!!!
Islam is the new Communism, and Republicans are playing it up because they have no plan to fix the country. They are a racist party full of racists and pussies.
Fucking scum of the Earth. Look who you people are electing? Some shitbird in Deleware who rthinks sex and masturbation is bad. LOLLOLOLOOL !!! FUCKING LOSERS!!! NO ONE LIKES YOU AND YOU KNOW IT, AND IT BOTHERS YOU ALL AND YOU JUST PRETEND NOT TO CARE, BUT YOU DO!!!! IM GOING TO GO TAKE DRUGS AND HAVE SEX, AND YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO SIT HOME LIKE LOSERS AND WHITE ABOUT TAXES!!! FAGGOTS!!!! PUSSIES!!! GET YOUR GUN READY SOME MUSLIM MIGHT BLOW YOU UP!!!LOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLO!!!!!
HEY LET'S MAKE THE BUSH TAX CUTS PERMANENT SO THEY CAN ADD TRILLIONS TO THE DEFICIT, BECAUSE THEY WORKED SO WELL OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS!!! CAN'T YOU TELL??? LOOK HOW GOOD EVERYONE IS DOING!!! LOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLO!!!

That's like building a Japanese memorial near Pearl Harbor. If you really don't get why this is so fucked up, I don't know what to tell you.
Who gives a fuck if there was a mosque before? The World Trade Center stood for decades before 9/11 too.
You can't compare the WTC to the Pentagon. Although it's pretty bad to have that there too. 3000 civilian lives murdered by these scumbags.
Scum of the earth?
FUCKING CHARLIE RANGEL IS GETTING RE-ELECTED. The only racists are democrats, who have to perpetrate race warfare and fear because they have no ability to run the country.
You talk so much shit about Republicans. But Obama is the one setting record deficits. You don't fix the economy by raising taxes. You want to cut the deficit? Stop with the record spending.
And yes, the BUSH TAX CUTS WORKED. What you tend to forget is that the economy was actually damn good before the democrats took control of Congress in 2006. Even then, things truly didn't tank until 2008. The Bush economy kicks the shit out of the Obama economy.
The economy when Republicans controlled Congress kicks the shit out of the economy when democrats controlled Congress.
The government is not the solution--it's the problem.

never forget. the recession in 2001 was Clinton's recession. the mortgage crisis of the last few years was Clinton's & Carter's fault. And the recession of January 2009 was immediately Obama's fault. if you change a Republican baby's diaper, there's a good chance the baby will say "That's not my shit in the diaper Daddy. A democrat put it there

You can ignore the truth all you want, but the bottom line is that the recession of 2001 was shortened by TAX CUTS. It's been 2 years, and the economy has got worse, in part because Obama is spending us into record deficits.
It's out of control and needs to be stopped.

so your answer is to spend $3 trillion on more tax cuts for the rich? Tax cuts that account for the 30% of the deficit you hate so much?

First of all, yes, tax cuts for EVERYONE is the beginning.
Second, "tax the rich" may be the liberal mantra, but it's absolutely moronic.
The answer to a 3 trillion deficit is to SLOW THE FUCKING SPENDING DOWN.
You don't take on a multi trillion dollar health plan against the wishes of the American people.
The money belongs to the people. They earned it. A 39.6 percent tax rate is exorbitant. Plus, the definition of rich is relative. A dollar in NYC is like $10 in North Carolina.
Tax cuts can actually increase what the government takes in because more people make money when there is more money to spend.
But stop wasting our tax dollars on useless programs. Obama is the most fiscally irresponsible president we have ever had.
Raising taxes is only going to stifle the economy more.
In the last 15 years, the government has passed 2 major tax cuts. Immediately following, the economy got better.
Realize that capitalism is what makes the economy move--not government spending. The government is inept.

Says the supporter of two losing wars, one of which has no justification of being waged to begin with. Nearly 50 Billion spent on training people who's best quality is desertion. Balls you are just making things up. Show me where health care reform is against the majority of the people? Show me how it's going to cost us more? If these tax cuts are so important how come we stood in a shithole economic crisis during Bush's tax cuts? Sorry, but extending to small businesses and middle class is a fine idea, but to the CEO's? Suck a dick. It's not even near Reagan's tax mark and you guys would suck his decomposing cock if I rolled his corpse in front of you. Face it, Republicans are fags and hecklehouse sucks. Two losing wars? Seems that Iraq wasn't exactly a losing war--thanks to Bush. And $50 billion is a drop in the hat compared to the garbage health plan that will worsen the health system in this country while costing TRILLIONS. AND 61 PERCENT STILL WANT IT REPEALED. www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/health_care_lawNow you can type LOL and ignore that poll, which has been going on since Obama passed it against the will of the people. Fact is, despite Obama's lies to the contrary, most people are going to lose their current health plans because insurance companies are going to be driven out of the market. Show me one spot where the majority think the health care plan is a good thing. centristnetblog.com/daily-news/cbo-obamacare-at-least-109-billion-in-deficit-spending-over-10-years/Just one article on the increasing costs. The fact that this jerkoff has fucked up our health care unconstitutionally is unbelievable. But the constitution means little to socialists. And please don't try to use Reagan as an example of someone who would tax more. That's retarded. When Reagan started the highest tax rate was 70%. He cut that to 35%. Cutting the highest tax rates stimulates growth. The 1980s proved that this is more than just common sense. The more taxes were cut, the more the economy grew. Same thing happened in the Clinton era when the Republican Congress cut taxes in the mid 1990s. Bush Sr. was dumb enough to let the democrats raise taxes in 1990, and the economy tanked. You can call Republicans fags all you want. But democrats don't know a damn thing about how to manage an economy. There has never been a thriving economy when there was a democrat president and democrat Congress since liberals took over the party. Their naive socialist spending habits and big government attitude has brought nothing but failure. Only when they start reducing spending and letting the people have their money does anything begin to happen. You can blast Republicans all you want, but the democrats have turned the economy into a train wreck. They threw oil on a fire, and make the Bush economy look like the 1980s/1990s.

Um--you know how you add to the deficit? BY OVERSPENDING.
The government needs to control itself. Stealing from the people who are already overtaxed is not going to control the deficit.
Obama has added more to the deficit than every president from Washington through Reagan combined. In 2 years, he's tripled it.
Taxing the rich will only make it worse because they won't invest.
It's a fact that tax cuts stimulate the economy. See the 1980s, the 1990s, and 2001. It's not a coincidence that the economy has done better with more tax cuts.
Want to help with the deficit? Repeal the health care bill. That would be a hell of a good start. Not stealing more money from the people.

Regarding that dumb poll that some are arguing that shows Obama is more popular in Alaska than Palin. It's malarky. First, it's by an organization called Daily Kos (no relation to the bleacher stalwart). www.dailykos.comIf you look over their site, it's obviously a left skewed website. But if you actually look up the poll, the question about Obama and the question about Palin were two different questions. Here's the poll: Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Sarah Palin? v. Do you approve or disapprove of Barack Obama's job performance? People can like a guy's job performance but hate the guy. Or vice versa. The point is that even if you bought into this website's propaganda, the questions of the poll itself are not the same, and the claim that Obama is more popular than Palin in Alaska, is about as full of shit as the claim that Obamacare will cut the deficit.

Well, I hope the polls hold true and the GOP takes back the house while cutting into the Senate. If so, I wonder if Obama will change and move away from the extremist style he's had since he became the premier.
The problem is that the damage is done. To undo it, we need to unseat Obama in 2012, which I don't think is happening.

Yesterday's election was nice, and a huge win for Republicans, but unfortunately, the damage is done. It's going to be virtually impossible to fix the damage Obama did in his first 2 years in office, without getting rid of Obama and retaking the Senate. The best this does is put a halt to the premier's further hopes to socialize the country.
It'll be interesting to see if Obama pulls a Clinton, and moves to the right to keep his power.

Well, one good thing is that idiot Nancy Pelosi has been fired. Good riddance. Let's compare the differences between her classless sore loser remarks, and Dennis Hastert's statement in 2006. First Hastert: www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2006/11/hastert_wont_run_for_gop_leade.html#more(cut to get to the point) Statement from House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (Washington, D.C.) Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today issued the following statement: "As a former wrestling coach, I know what it is like when your team takes second place in the state tournament. It hurts. And so it is with politics. " This morning I called Nancy Pelosi to congratulate her. At the beginning of the next Congress she will make history as the first female Speaker of the House. Her achievement follows from a lot of hard work and determination, and I respect that."Many pundits will analyze why the Democrats won and why the Republicans lost-obviously I wish my party had won. I take some comfort in the fact that a majority of the winning candidates ran on a platform of common sense conservatism, be they Republican or Democrat. That bodes well for the future of our nation. "Finally, I want to thank all of my colleagues, friends, and constituents for all the support they have given me over the years. It has been an honor and a great personal privilege for this old wrestling coach to be able to serve the American people as their Speaker."The men and women of the Republican Conference in the House are dedicated public servants. I can think of no higher honor than to have been entrusted by them with the Speaker's gavel in four consecutive Congresses. Together we accomplished many good things for the American people and together we will always be proud of those accomplishments. "The Republican leader in the 110th Congress will have the responsibility to emphasize conservative values and reform principles. I will not seek this role, but will support our leader to the best of my ability as I return to the full-time task of representing the people of the 14PthP district of Illinois who have honored me 11 times with the privilege of serving them in the House of Representatives." ================ And now Pelosi: politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/11/03/pelosi-statement-midterms-nothing-future-plans-no-congratulations-gop"Over the last four years, the Democratic Majority in the House took courageous action on behalf of America's middle class to create jobs and save the country from the worst economic catastrophe since the Great Depression. "Our Members and candidates ran remarkable campaigns led by the superb leadership of DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen. "The outcome of the election does not diminish the work we have done for the American people. We must all strive to find common ground to support the middle class, create jobs, reduce the deficit and move our nation forward." Wow. No class at all. She didn't congratulate the GOP for the accomplishment, didn't wish them luck, and basically lied about accomplishments that didn't happen. Since 2006, unemployment is on the rise, jobs disappeared, the housing market collapsed, and we ARE in the worst economic times since the Great Depression. She came off like a total sore loser, and it is a great day that her power has been cut severely.

I'll say this. I'm surprised Republicans aren't more worried about the Tea Party.
The Tea Party pulled a Ross Perot and basically denied the GOP the Senate by splitting up the available votes three ways. And frankly, I think the lopsided win in Congress would have been even greater if not for the Tea Party.
The Tea Party has clearly fired a warning shot across the bow of the GOP with their post-election remarks, telling Republicans not to simply expect them to fall in line with GOP S.O.P.

There is a little catch 22 with the Tea Party. In many of the Senate races, the Republican candidate wouldn't have even been a factor without the Tea Party type dissatisfaction and funding. Just like there are people on the fringes who don't serve the Democrats that well, the same is true of some of the Tea Party members. I feel like the Tea Party is more Libertarian in bent. Conservative on economics but not into all the social issues. I find myself agreeing with them as I find that the modern Republican party has gotten away from this and focused on things that are to me less important like gay marriage and the like.
I share the concern about Palin and others. They have the problem of being quite polarizing. They are beneficial for rallying the base, but harder on the general election. This has been happening in some ways to the Republicans for at least the last decade as the social conservative wing has become more influential pushing the candidates to the right while overall the electorate is more Central.

SF Board of Supervisors have passed a law placing minimum nutritional requirements on any meal (i.e. meals w/ toys) marketed to children.
The McDonald's Happy Meal does not meet these requirements, thereby forbidding McD's from selling Happy Meals in SF either permanently or until the upgrade the nutritional value of these meals.
McDonald's claims this law threatens parent's "ability to make choices for their children." I say hogwash - it takes aways one blatantly bad choice until that choice can meet nutritional guidelines. By the way, bad parents are still free to buy and feed their kids CRAP, it just won't come in a little box with a toy in it.
Law was achieved with an 8-3 majority and is Mayor-veto-proof.

So the GOP managed to force Obama to extend the Bush tax cuts for 2 more years. It's a start. That's not a great compromise, but it's going to help. In addition to not being dumb enough to raise anyone's taxes, the deal cuts the social security payroll tax from 6.2% to 4.2%, which is a nice little pickup for businesses.
The bad is that they are bringing back the death tax, but at least it's not as bad as what was going to happen. That tax really needs to be eliminated.
Some think that this may make Obama one and done. I think it will help his re-election chances because a) it shows that he can compromise (even if it was because the people told him to fuck off), and b) it's the right thing to do.

Few things:
-In 30 years we'll be saying to ourselves, "Can you believe we didn't have universal health care back when we were young?". Kinda like we say "Can you believe there were black and white bathrooms?" or "Can you believe women couldn't vote?". -We already have a fucking universal health care system. It's the "unisured don't pay their overpriced, unreasonable bill, so it passes costs to the insured" plan. -It's obvious that a huge number of voters are clueless. Millions of people actually think Sara Palin would be a good president.

More like in 30 years--
Can you believe we had good doctors when we were young?
Remember before the government went bankrupt?
Can you believe that when we were young, we could actually get treatment when we needed it, and didn't need to wait 9 months for an MRI?
This is the single worst piece of legislation in our history. It's not a surprise that it goes beyond the bounds of our constitution.
A huge number of voters ARE clueless. They elected a socialist president.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a rising star in the Democratic Party, has played the blizzard for political gain in his New Jersey city. Using Twitter, he personally responded to distress calls, offering to shovel snow from the doorsteps of disabled people and delivering diapers to a snowed-in new mother.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, basking in national attention for balancing the state budget while emerging as a moderate voice within the Republican Party, has come under fire for staying on vacation after the storm.
Christie and Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno remained on holiday throughout the blizzard, leaving Senate President Stephen Sweeney as acting governor.
Democratic Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman said their absence left New Jersey "rudderless."
"In the future, I would hope the Governor and Lieutenant Governor will ... better coordinate their schedules in order to put the safety and welfare of our residents first," she said.

If this is the worst thing Christie does, he's going to have a good career.
NJ did not have as bad a time as NYC did. What's really disgusting, aside from the pathetic way Bloomberg handled the situation, is that the Sanitation Department slowed down intentionally to tell the mayor to fuck off.
At least 2 people died as a result, including a NEWBORN BABY.
If they can prove that these people really ordered the slowdown, they should be prosecuted for manslaughter.

MassYanks - my point (per our Twitter convo) was this...
If you plan to outlaw abortion, supposedly under the guise of making people responsible for their actions, you are explicitly choosing to accept the future socioeconomic ramifications of forcing unwanted pregnancies to continue to birth.
It's no stretch to assume that a large chunk of abortion patients are impoverished, urban/inner-city women who are completely ill-equipped in every way imaginable to raise a child. It's also no stretch to assume that if these unwanted pregnancies were forced all the way to birth, many of these children would grow up to be a burden on society: financially, criminally, etc..
If your answer to this is education and work for welfare programs...my question is, what are you gonna do with people who are unwilling to participate? You can only educate the willing. You can't FORCE someone to go to work. What are you gonna do when you have unwilling participants who just want to sit on their ass and collect govt handouts? The govt simply cannot to allow anyone to starve to death...at some point these people will become the burden of the tax payers.
It seems a harsh stance, but the only REAL way to combat these future drains on society is prevention from their existence at all.
Don't get me wrong...I am not talking about selective sterilization or murder...I am simply saying, let's not only allow, but accommodate (as in federal funding) women who recognize their deficiencies as potential parents and make their desire for an abortion that much easier.
Look, I'd much rather, as a tax payer, fund an early-term abortion now, than fund a welfare, more police, and long term prison housing later.
Conservatives are always griping about welfare, Medicaid, and other social programs...including prison housing and wanting tougher crime laws. All of these would be negatively impacted by outlawing abortion. Crime would skyrocket, welfare demands would skyrocket, Medicaid demands would skyrocket, prison population would skyrocket.
