Great thread idea, especially since, as a Cowboys fan, I've (deservedly) eaten nothing but crow for the past two weeks. I still don't know where I'm watching the game, but I expect MAD eats!

Ah, yes, we are looking forward to this.
Dana was leafing through cookbooks yesterday, poking about online. We have a heap of food sites saved to a fave folder online.
Looks like we are going with some sort of "Shipwreck Stew" - I dont recall the details - she can fill in the blanks - but I know there is some ground beef, potatoes, tomato paste, that sort of stuff. Its another slow cooker bonanza.
More to come in the next few days.

I am a big believer that you should not eat anything healthy at all during the Super Bowl.
Pizza is a must for me, more so on this day than others. If not pizza, a meatball hero is vital. But something Italian in nature.
Doritos are my chip of choice, though Cheetos and Fritos will also be acceptable forms of nourishment.
Why would I cook anything when there is a city filled with anything I want?

I will be honoring a Super Bowl tradition started by my step-mother back when I was a wee lad....Rumaki
wikipedia: Rumaki is an hors d'oeuvre of Hawaiian origin. Its ingredients and method of preparation vary, but usually it consists of water chestnuts and pieces of chicken liver wrapped in bacon and marinated in soy sauce and either ginger or brown sugar.

Stuff wrapped in bacon rocks. I also have a hankering to gobble up some liver, although Dana shuns the idea. I would enjoy some of this Rumaki you speak of, I believe.

It's PHENOMENAL stuff!!!!!! I'm a big liver fan as well - on sandwiches, by itself, stuffed in other meats, etc...

Rumaki is where it's at. As I live in the armpit of Mass., I will undoubtedly be watching the game with some lame ass Pat's bandwagon jumpers, I hope to be serving crow. If not it looks like the usual...wings, pizza, pigs in a blanket (Or any other Costco hors d'oeuvre) , etc.

Doritos are my chip of choice as well. I LOVE THEM!!!! I prefer Spicy Nacho to Cool Ranch. I don't like Fritos, too plain. Cheetos are okay but only if they are the crunchy kind - I don't do puffed.
And as for liver, I don't (knowingly) eat vital organs. Blech!

I'm hearing vicious rumors about one of my buddies in Hoboken deep-frying a turkey. I must investigate.

My brother in law does that. The skin gets burnt to a crisp, but the meat inside is delicious!

Deep fried turkey is great. I have a buddy that does 2 of them every year for Canada Day.
Last time I was there he injected them with tequila and lime. I've never seen a Turkey devoured so quickly.
I was thinking of doing some bacon wrapped scallops.
Have you guys seen the recipe for the deep fried cheeseburger made entirely out of bacon?

Oh my friggin' God.....sign me up! Me want.
Hey, what we did see was a dish concocted by a zany chubby chef on Food Net, it was burgers stuffed with bacon and the like. It was like a meat cake of dripping and oily goodness. He made em up with some sweet potato fries. Oh, and ketchup he whipped up himself. Oooga!

gotta love the guy who invented the deep fried burger....sittin' behind the dugout at the stadium....maybe at the new stadium they can have him open a stand out by the promanade(formerly known as the bleachers)

So not only did our Super Bowl meal come out tip-top, and not only did Dana get to celebrate the hefty Giants win, but we won $1000! The "reverse" on the big $100 a box pool we did out of the firehouse. Funniest part is we did not even realize there was a reverse on the pool....my Dad jingled us up right after the game, and bellowed "congratulations!" I was like, "eh, we had the score the other way around" and he was like, "no kidding...you won the reverse."
Yee ha!

Lost $10 in a pool, and was close to winning $75. Had the Patriots 7, but didn't have the 3. I did have the 0 for the Giants, so at 10-7, it was looking good for awhile, until they traded touchdowns. I actually don't give a crap. The Giants won.

Well, after paying the recommended 10% tithe, we collect $900, yes. But I dont buy into the fact that we won $900 cause we paid $100 to get in. That $100 was paid a few weeks ago, its spent money. We are being handed $900, I dont minus $100 in my head.
Same thing with the fantasy baseball league. People are busy subtracting what they paid for the year from their winnings. Its a sad way to live life. Money won is free money, in regards to a score. You want to diminish your winnings by nickel and diming what you paid in, feel free. We plan on spending $900 of free money here.

The deep-fried turkey kicked ass. The deep-fried Oreos did, as well, but that was something I definitely did NOT need.
