Word on the street is that Jake "The Snake" Roberts will be backstage at this coming Mondays TNA tapings. There have long been rumors that Jake may be coming in for some sort of role. Also, a "legendary" manager is supposed to be there as well, to further the "Managers vying for the services of Bobby Roode" storyline.

The NewKerala.com website in India is reporting that Dalip Singh Rana, better known to WWE fans as The Great Khali, has been suspended by the Indian police after he failed to show up for work after his six-month leave expired in July this year. Khali is an assistant sub-inspector with the Punjab Armed Police. However hours after his suspension, the police reinstated him after the Director General intervened. The WWE Superstar has decided to stay in the US for the time being but at the same time he does not want to give up his duties as a police officer in his country. The police have now accepted his leave request till December. (Source: Wrestling-Online Newsletter #2311)

Road Warrior Animal's son James Laurinaitis is a linebacker for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Buckeye Bits: Lettered in 2005 as a true freshman ... gradually worked his way up the depth chart to the No. 2 spot behind senior Bobby Carpenter on the strong side ... played almost the entire Michigan game after Carpenter suffered a broken ankle on the first play of that contest ... started the bowl game against Notre Dame and heads into the fall as the projected starter at Carpenter's vacated spot ... has added 10 pounds and has significantly increased his strength since last year ... is a smart football player with excellent speed and has a very bright future with the Buckeyes ... is the first scholarship player from the state of Minnesota to play for the Buckeyes since the legendary Sid Gillman (1930-33, captain in 1933)

High School: Named Minnesota's Defensive Mr. Football as a senior ... collected 193 tackles, including 28 tackles-for-loss and five sacks as a senior after racking up 160 tackles as a junior ... led Wayzata to the Minnesota 5A state championship game as a senior ... also a hockey standout and was elected team captain of the squad as a senior.

New jack at it again Pulled this from Deathvallleydriver.com' board
ew Jack has left the building but there are currently 25 PA police officers at the building looking for him. Jack showed drunk and was in rare form challenging every to fights before the event, He then disappreared and all was well until I kid you not he went and ordered a Sprite from the stand. He was given a 7up as they didn't have sprite and he threw it in the womans face that runs the snack stand. The Atlas security head Ronnie then confronted him and he challenged Ronnie to a fight. Ronnie refused to back down and cooler heads went to the back and they talked it out. Until 3 cops showed up as the building manager ordered him arrested and he begain to challenge the PA cops to a fight. With in minutes it turned out ok as Jack agreed to leave but a fan called the cops and said that jack hit a cop and no less then 25 officers are here now
Cryme Tyme 's got nothing on him

Here is what looks like a more detailed account of last nights New Jack hoopla, thanks to the wrestlingobserver.
New Jack was booked for last night's Pro Wrestling Xplosion debut show at the New Alhambra Arena (former ECW Arena) in Philadelphia, PA last night, but was pulled from the show following an incident at the arena.
According to reports, New Jack had been drinking and then ordered a Sprite at the concession stand. When Jack was given a 7-UP, he started yelling at the woman who worked at the stand. A guy working on the ring crew walked up, knowing the girl, and stood up to New Jack. New Jack ended up punching the man, which then brought out Ronnie Long, the head of Atlas Security and the promotor of the show.
There was reportedly an altercation between New Jack and the promoter and both had to be separated. Police were called and at one point, New Jack locked himself in a room. He was eventually taken away by police, but was not arrested as the man part of the ring crew who was punched decided not to press charges. Following this incident, it doesn't appear New Jack will be invited or booked for future Pro Wrestling Xplosion events. It actually distracted many fans from the show as numerous amounts of police officers showing up could be seen off to the side of the arena.

I recieved a free autographed postcard from Jim Ross, simply for being one of the first 1000 people to sign up to recieve the free newsletter offered on his new barbecue sauce website. www.jrsbarbq.com is his site, which interestingly enough has some cool old-school wrestling pics, and a wrestling related blog by the man.

If anyone gets the chance you have to go over to PWTorch.com and read the specialist guest editorial entitled The Birth of Aurora Rose. Funny shit there, well worth the quick 5 minute read.

I just got my DX DVD in the mail, I loved it when I had in on VHS and love it now. One big plus and one big negative, the negative thing is the curses are taken out, have no clue why it's edited on DVD. The positive thing is the DVd comes with 8 matches from the DX era. I was laughing my ass off at Michaels and HHH, it almost makes me sad to se DX now compared to 10 years ago, it's fucking gold.

I'm glum. Have never looked forward to a wrestling DVD as much as the Pillman one that hit the streets today. I decided to get cute a couple of weeks ago and preorder it, figuring it would come promptly and I may even save a couple of coins. Well...went to FYE this afternoon for something, and there is the Pillman DVD staring me in the face, for a couple of dollars cheaper than I paid to preorder it. More importantly, I could have had it in my hands then and there, but instead I am looking at another 3-4 days as it just shipped today.
Sigh.

I'll let you know tomorrow how that is. I plan on either getting that or the History of the WWE Championship. Probably Flyin Brian.

Be careful on the History of the Championship DVD. The matches there in full are all over other DVDs, and most title changes are shown in seconds-long clips. The reviews on that disc are not all that good. Give me the Pillman discs anytime over that reworking of history. Check out the match listing on the Pillman DVD - blows even a bunch of World Title matches out of the water.

Just got my Pillman. Time to kick back a few beers and watch some good wrestling. There's even special commentary by Stone Cold as a bonus material. This should be good.

Got it in the mail today. Will be watching the 90 minute documentary portion tonight at 11, after Celeb Duets and Supernatural. Then its on to the matches tomorrow, when I have one last day home from work. But I did dip into the Disc 1 extras. The "Meeting with JR" story is HILARIOUS.

On Saturday's Ohio State game, near the end, the announcers were talking about James Laurinaitis, saying if he didn't make it in the NFL he'd go into pro wrestling. One of the announcers said he wasn't big enough for pro wrestling. The other responded, "You don't think those guys bulk up in a month?" And another said sarcastically, "No, there's not any supplements used there."

Still in TNA, mixing it up in hardcore style brawls. Currently engaged in a 3-way tussle with Abyss and Brother Runt (Spike Dudley) - he looks fat and gets a lot of grief from the internet community for hanging around, but I like him still. He's older than most people think, he is in his mid-40s.

The thing that ALWAYS bothered about Wrestling as "sports entertainment" is that theoretically we are being asked to entertain this spectacle as a sporting event. Having said that, the wrestlers I've always disliked watching most, to the point of tuning out, are the wrestlers who have wrestled in clothing other than typical wrestling athletic wear: from Konnan in his gang-banger clothes with his boxer shorts haning out of his baggy jeans, to the countless "redneck" characters who come to the ring in overalls. You can still pull off those personas in regulation wrestling gear. Hacksaw Jim Duggan played the redneck role to perfection and he wore trunks.

I agree with you. You can throw IRS and his suspenders into the mix there too.
Going on redneck persona, the guy I like today (and he wrestles in trunks and boots to boot) is Trevor Murdoch.

Who was the HUGE redneck character that was introduced in the 80s, allied with Hogan, and wore overalls? They played him up as this confused inexperienced hayseed who came into the ring and cleaned house on sheer will and brute strength...and after he'd clean someone's clock....he'd look around the ring, shrug his shoulders as if to say, "What do I do next?" People loved him, but even as a kid, it annoyed me that he wore the overalls.
If I'm willing to forego the soap opera aspect of Pro Wrestling, suspend reality and view this as a legit sporting contest, I want them to at least make it somewhat believable. That's probably why I always liked Goldberg, and going back further, Bruiser Brody. They came to the ring very Mike Tyson-ish....black trunks black boots, no frills, didn't talk all that much, and just kicked the piss out of everyone, and they were very ATHLETIC. And to an extent the Road Warriors had the same appeal...they had the make up and funny hair...but even they removed the costumes and wrestled in tights and boots.

IRS? He was the accountant character...slicked back hair...looked like he was from the movie Wall Street?
