Fantastic quote from Ronnie Garvin, after cementing down a challenge to Champion Ric Flair...."See you next week....we got a date....but we ain't going to be making love, we're going to be wrestling."

Interesting addendum to this latest World Class offering. Its the show the week following the infamous Freebirds turn. After the show, while doing the end wrap, Michael Hayes introduces a guest.....BUDDY ROBERTS! Roberts had a nasty bout of throat cancer, and speaks through a voicebox now. He looked quite frail, and has been for some time.
But to see Roberts and Hayes together again was a hoot, and Buddy was his normal jolly prankster self, if you know the stories. You could see the genuine affection the two men had for each other. I know WWE.COM did a "where are they now" on Buddy, so while he was bought in for this World Class stuff they probably knocked that down as well. For you wrestling historians, its worth a watch, this show.

What a treat The Shadow # 1 & 2 on the same show but both in singles competition. LOL at Gorilla saying he saw one of The Shadows at the airport and he still had the mask on and than Lord Alfred chimes in that he thinks they are from Japan....

Ah, that must have just come up. I have not seen this latest offering from Florida. Got to love Mike Graham hanging out at the waterside, with his little laptop and loud shirts, introducing all the matches and capers.
Speaking of Florida, I just got Battle of the Belts II (featuring Ric Flair vs Lex Luger in a 40 minute battle) and Battle of the Belts III (featuring Flair and Barry Windham in what is said to be one of the classic Flair/Windham battles) for a dollar each on DVD from one of the traders i dabble with.

Anyone checking out this Philly Spectrum 5/87 card? I watched the first half last night. Highlight was King Harley taking on the incredible Hulk Hogan. I have a King Harley in WWE 3-DVD comp coming, so before watching I checked if this was on it, and it wasnt. So I watched.
Fun battle, Hogan won clean in the end. But the thing was Harley was flipping over the top rope to the floor - like 3 times. He was taking crazy bumps for a chubby old man. He also did that drop from the ropes, going for the headbutt, only to have Hogan move and Harley to crash facefirst to the mat. Twice Harley took headers into the mat.
After the pin Hercules ran in and the two started putting the boots to Hulk, who battled his way out of that. Fun stuff, Harley was holding up his end well.

Sometimes it's amazing watching really old people take bumps. Mae Young still is the most shocking.

So Balls, you would have got a kick out of the Primetime Wrestling episode on last night, which first aired in August of 87. Not one, but two matches where both competitors are dead. First off was Ravishing Rick Rude vs the savagely underrated Jerry Allen, who came and went with such little fanfare he does not even have a profile on Obsessed With Wrestling. It was Rude's MSG debut. The other battle, and it was a long match, was Dino Bravo vs Brady Boone, who was killed in a car wreck a decade later while working as a ref in WCW. Boone, a cousin of Billy Jack, also played the short-lived role of Battle Kat.

That's outstanding. Nothing like a good battle of dead wrestlers. Was Joey Morella the referee?
Did Moolah ever battle Sensational Sherri?

Not only did Moolah battle Sherri, Sherri ended one of her title runs. Ironically, a clip of this match was shown on this same Primetime episode! I have seen the match in full on another offering, it was a horrible match, and Sherri even bungled the ending. That may be why it was not shown in full on Primetime, and only a clip of it was.

Was Joey Morella the referee? I think that's the ultimate--a match with 2 dead wrestlers, with a dead referee.

Too bad. There has to be some matches out there that have 2 dead wrestlers and a dead referee. Then again, Dick Kroll and Dick Whorley are due to die soon enough, so that should free up some matches.
It's not like anyone would care if they died anyway. They're just a couple of Dicks.

I bet if 90% of the wrestling world died you'd finally watch a match because you'd think it was funny.

How many of Undertaker's opponents, that were in casket matches, are dead?
THAT is kind of funny too.
