I am starting to get a little grumpy, I am having technical glitches with 24/7, as in freezing pic early in a showing. I watch on the DVR TV, and it wont even let me rewind or FF out of there. I change the channel, go to resume program, and it freezes again. Its happening on multiple shows all of a sudden. I have not been able to watch this weeks Prime Time offering, for example.
Last time I had 24/7 glitches, I had to unplug the cable box and all this other hoopla. I would rather not have to do that all over again. I am going to wait until the programming switches over, and try again. I really did want to see Butch Reed vs Ricky Steamboat, though...

So, coming down from my trip and logging a lot of couch time this weekend, I dipped pretty deep into the 24/7 offerings. Here is a bit of a recap.
Started with an NWA offering, on the tv side, from Sep 86. Highlight on this for me was a spirited tag team battle between the Andersons and Terry Taylor (always a favorite of mine) and Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer. And it goes without saying that another highlight for me was the promos, especially a ranting Black Bart, along with his manager at the time, JJ Dillon.
Watched Prime Time on USA, from 87. I could listen to Gorilla and Bobby banter all day and night. And capping the show off with Hulk Hogan vs Cowboy Bob is a good thing.
And topped it off by watching half of the Boston 11/1/86 card, which I will finish off tonight. I am a fan of a lot of guys who were "lost in the shuffle" and also a fan of the long match, so I am probably one of the few who was whooping it up during a Billy Jack Haynes vs Cowboy Bob Orton TWENTY MINUTE DRAW. Taped it, enjoyed it, will watch it again. It follows another 20 minute draw on that tape, that I watched a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed to the fullest, my man Butch Reed vs Tito Santana.

Watching Samoan Sika vs the Scottsman Scotty McGhee (who once pinned Ric Flair on Florida TV!) last night after Raw, and Gorilla and Lord Alfred were bandying back and forth like they can do. Well, Gorilla went into one of his schpiels about McGhee getting hit in the "octuberal protuberance of the metacarpal cranium" or some such thing, and Lord Alfred replies, "your knowledge of the body never ceases to amaze me."
So Gorilla goes, "it was always an interest of mine...my favorite subject in school, along with Kinseology"
The definition of Gorilla's other favorite subject is...
the science dealing with the interrelationship of the physiological processes and anatomy of the human body with respect to movement.

Due to moving and summer (yes and I know it is not "officially" summer") I have been very lax in my 24/7 viewing..I hope I have not missed too many gems..I have to start catching up at some point....

I hope you saw the PrimeTime that was on last week and is now gone...it featured Craig DeGeorge going out to visit a rehabbing from injury Superstar Graham. Graham was trying to climb a hill using his walker, and down he went. I could play that all day, and laugh harder all the time. It gave Graham the excuse to do the, "I will beat this! I will come back stronger than ever!" gag.
Also, right now the NWA show revolving around the timing of Dusty Rhodes saving Flair in the cage from the Russians, only to be beaten down by the betraying Flair and the Andersons is being played out, including clips of the heinous offense.

Watching Nitro, man, you can really start to see where WCW went wrong. Some of it is downright boring.
LOL @ the pic of Lee Marshall on the phone during his on the road calls. What a stupid segment. Let's have a guy call in from a city thy are not in and say that there are wrestling fans there.

OK I took in the Gino Monsoon Hall of Fame bio.....Very good...I remember as a kid watching when he gave Ali the air plane spin.....Also I just laughed for no reason as Gorilla was announced as the Asiatic Champion prior to his match up with Baron Miguel Scicluna...from the Isle of Malta of course.....Also LOL at the Gorilla trademark "He doesn't know a wristlock from a wrist watch"...
Now I just hope that the Primetime Episode stays up there til Saturday morning so I can catch that.....

By the way, the Supe Graham fall on the mountain takes place on this Primetime as well, so watch it! I am pretty sure it will last through the weekend, as the month ends next week and that is probably when the programming is going to swap out.
Taped the Gorilla thing. Tape all the profiles, for watching later at my leisure.

I'm going to watch that Primetime in a bit to see if it's on there.
Watched some of the WCW segment, and Billy Graham was on that one also, with Crockett giving Ooooohs and Aaaaahs in a very homosexual manner each time he posed. It was quite disturbing hearing him go "aahhhh, look at him! what a man!"
The clips of Dusty running in to help Flair getting pounded by the Russians, only to get turned on by Flair and the Horsemen as soon as the ring was clear, was fantastic. I watched that bit twice and laughed hard both times. That was a classic moment.

Did the WWE change Outback Jack's theme due to copyrights? I hate when they do that.

Didn't know where to stick this but Howard right now is playing clips of the Iron Sheik on Ferrell last night and it is the funniest stuff..I hope the Sheik gets a show on Raw that would be hyterical...He was crying when they mentioned Freddie Blassie saying how much he missed him and he was Blassie's #1 champion.... Great stuff...

I can't see Iron Sheik getting any more than a cameo once in awhile. It would be great though.

Sheik to this day is seriously drug-riddled. Do not expect to see him back in any form after this Benoit incident.
Anyhoo, back to 24/7 offerings...
On WWE 24/7 next month, they'll feature SummerSlam 1997 and 1989, have a feature on Junkyard Dog, Have Raw with Bret Hart vs. HHH and Rock vs. Vader as well as 1982 World Class featuring the week before the Freebirds-Von Erichs feud started Other matches airing this month include Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich at Texas Station, Road Warriors vs. Freebirds from Comiskey Park, Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith at Wembley Stadium and Hogan & Savage vs. Sting & Luger from Nitro.

Nice.
The NWA battle between Superstar Billy Graham and Abdullah the Butcher was a comedy mess. #1 Paul Jones added to the fun with his antics. T and I were talking about him the other day, and I don't think I gave him enough credit on the mic. He's got some funny bits.

Currently watching The Great American Bash from 1990, the Steiners vs. the Freebirds in particular. The Freebirds are really glammed out tonight. Sparkley pants and suspenders, eye liner, sparkles. Gavin goes to the other side of the ring to yell at the crowd, who then get the camera put on them, as they all stand in unison and chant "FAGGOTS! FAGGOTS! FAGGOTS!" over and over at them. Shockingly, the camera pans to get every single one of them, instead of going to another camera to avoid the obscenities.
Vader made his WCW debut tonight, and I loved it because he squashed Z-man, who I hate. I love old Vader with the old Vader mask. While watching I noticed how a good chunk of the front row on camera seemed unimpressed. Then it struck me as I looked closer at the crowd that the first few rows were filled with old people sitting there as if they couldn't wait for it to be over. LOL!! How the hell does the front row get filled with that many old people?
EDIT: Now they zoom in on the crowd as they chant "Michael is a bitch!" LLOL!

On 24/7 in September, they will have a feature on Iron Sheik, the Spectacular History of the AWA DVD; a 1991 show from Royal Albert Hall in London with a Battle Royal main event, WCW Collision in Korea PPV with the only Inoki vs. Flair match ever held before 170,000 fans, plus Monday Night Wars and a Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich NWA title match on World Class

Right now I'm watching the SNME with the Uncle Elmer wedding. That show is even funnier than I remember. Someone from the crowd hit Elmer's bride with trash and Ventura rolled with it, and made fun of Elmer's fumbling speech the whole time.

OK, buck up guys - they are starting the spark of the Von Erichs / Freebirds feud on the World Class shows now. This weeks offering is from 1/1/83, featuring part of the show where the war starts. Next week features the infamous cage match where all Hell broke loose, between Kerry and Flair, with Mike Hayes as a guest ref. The infamous Terry Gordy cage-door slam, which was never done with as much consequence.

Pawed around a bit with the remote last night to see whats on tap for this weeks worth of offerings, and here is a doozy. A WCW card from South Korea, featuring Ric Flair vs Antonio Inoki, in front of what is reputed to be around 150,000 people, in some Stadium or another. A legendary match on what has become a legendary card. I look forward to checking that out over the weekend.

Ok, a few of you had been waiting for this.
The main spark in the Freebird/Von Erich war, and one of the most memorable matches/moments in wrestling history. The spirited Christmas 1982 battle between Ric Flair and Kerry Von Erich in the cage, with Michael Hayes as one of the two refs, and Terry Gordy as the gatekeeper.
This match goes on for almost the whole show. Classic, I can not say that enough. Do NOT let this program go unwatched! Dont miss this!

Fun offering from Florida, circa March of 82, up right now. Lots of super-duperstars making an appearance on this one. Kicks off with a fun tag battle between the heel David Von Erich teaming with Dory Funk Jr vs the team of Brian Blair and Terry "Magnum TA" Allen.
Favorite moments on the show were clips of a spirited battle for the NWA strap between Ric Flair and Hacksaw Butch Reed (these two were clubbing one another) and a technical catch-as-catch-can scientific battle between legendary warriors long in the tooth but still capable in Mr Wrestling II and Hiro Matsuda. For historical purposes, this was a great watch.
These Florida shows are top notch, and if you have 24/7 and are passing on them, you are missing out.
